Quote from JTbo :That reminded me from modern Audis, but today even crap looking car will sell

That's due to some silly new German law about pedestrian safety and blunt bumpers... (then I guess they just had to do something with all that flat space)

I'd rather get hit by a good-looking car tbh

It's hard to believe those were actually real...

Advertising aside, watching this makes me think: It's mind-boggling to consider how they actually could go so far out of their way to design cars that poorly w/r/t F1 cars, LM cars and European sports cars of the time--and then I remember it still hasn't changed a bit...

"+1 Ian" (maybe I should make that my sig). btw, how is it possible to not know what direction your wheels are pointed unless the car is at a complete standstill or the wheels are locked anyway? You have a steering wheel... you just turned it... in fact, FF is trying to re-center it. And, well, if you honestly still don't know, you should know how the car's moving and what steering inputs should be executed for whatever your desired outcome.

Besides, there's a steering position indicator already built into LFS for mouse users with the wheel turned off using the cockpit view or chase cam or something... or you?

Quote from LFSn00b :dude, you're a moron. i said nothing to you, besides he said it's patch U, and there is no tweak for Patch U. Now i've said nothing to you, except now, so gtfo.

Um... he was merely addressing you by your forum handle.

But then, if he wasn't (by the lack of quote) he was addressing the OP.

And I didn't think you could adjust track like that with Lfs tweak, anyway...

Quote from Racer Y :Yeah, California does have nice roads. Our roads mostly suck here.
Nice flat and square. But that's a good thing I guess cause with the idiots we have driving here if we was to have something like the PCH, it would replace heart disease as the leading cause of death.

Idiots... they come in all packages, and the PCH does have it's share--remember this guy?

Quote from Forbin :Who's going to have their head tilted at 45 degrees (relative to the car) when the car's up on 2 wheels?

You sound like someone who isn't used to being on two wheels, which I know is not the case...

http://images.acclaimimages.co ... 024-0408-0321-3249_SM.jpg

You can see the driver (RH drive) is perpendicular to the road.

And some head angles you're more familiar with:

I think it would be a good option. Maybe not that extreme, but yes... currently it's like looking out of a camera that's on a wobbly mount but attached to the car. Makes it look like a video or TV feed in general, which isn't that bad per se, but...

Quote from Racer Y :Yeah, now if they can only figure out how to drive on them, they'll do ok

Haha so true...

Nevertheless, there are a lot of flawlessly paved (mostly obscure) roads here that seem like they were designed by race/rally car drivers (as opposed to track designers!).

To take the focus away from socal (or midcal ), the best roads I have ever driven on were through the redwood forest with banked hairpins going around the trees... with the top down and nobody else on the road... in a truly great machine--beyond beautiful. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/1594775

PCH through Big Sur (south of Monterey) is fabulous as well.

But when it comes to inner-city streets (the ones a lot of us probably spend the most time on), and aside from the occasional cobblestone, Europe has the US obliterated.

You poor people! This is an example of what many nice roads lie in my back yard, like the infamous Decker Canyon Road, and most of the Mulholland Hwy.

At least I make the most of my pushbike.

Well, slicks are sticky.

I imagine eventually we will see different grip levels on certain parts of tracks (more slippery off the racing line, and also this type of thing).

Agreed--their chocolate beer is to die for.

Oh snap! I wasn't entirely off topic with that one...

Quote from ajp71 :IIRC going from 140-70 will take you nearly four times as long as it does to stop from 70-0.

I wouldn't think so with all that extra wind resistance helping you from 140-70... then again, it might also depend a lot on how much lift your car is producing at those speeds, though I doubt as much--worth checking into, I guess. I agree with the rest of your post.

Just tried it in the XRT to give me a really rough idea. Took almost 4 seconds to go from 140 to 70, and just a wee bit longer actually to go from 70-0.

Quote from Ilpav :He probably means the water put on so you can do a burnout because the water makes it slippery and therefore makes it easier to do a burnout.

It's actually a kind of rubber solvent, isn't it? But that has nothing to do with a "fixed" starting line, i.e. one that doesn't move... but we have that already, anyway!

Methinks something was lost in translation...

Ah, running... the workout as old as legs. If I didn't have my bicycles, that's what I'd do.

All you need is a good pair of shoes and shorts or sweats. After a little while, the shirt becomes optional.

I think the death penalty should be an option to those with life sentences. At least I'd rather be put down than spend my life in one of these prisons. I think it's often the merciful thing to do--unless it's against their will (rather, more against their will than staying in prison for life). When you'd rather die, the life sentence is inhumane and cruel.

The other issue is: people sit around in prison for years waiting for their death penalties to be served.
