White flag means slow-moving vehicle on track in other sports... but good suggestion.

A speed trap would be... cool. Just to display at the end of the race next to fastest lap.

Dragging in LFS is boring enough. You want it to be even less dependent on driver skill?

see (rather, anticipate) a green light. push a button. exciting.

probably a lot of coding to make a realistic slushy just for that.

Also, allow me to open up a can of worms:
If all cars were identical (as they are in LFS), no one would drag in real life!

Quote from Shel Silverstein :
Thanksgiving dinner's sad and thankless
Christmas dinner's dark and blue
When you stop and try to see it
From the turkey's point of view.

Sunday dinner isn't sunny
Easter feasts are just bad luck
When you see it from the viewpoint
Of a chicken or a duck.

Oh how I once loved tuna salad
Pork and lobsters, lamb chops too
'Til I stopped and looked at dinner
From the dinner's point of view.

Quote from Dajmin :Idaho's mountains would totally kick Cali's flat ass.

ID:
highest point: 12,662 ft (3,862 m)
lowest point: 710 ft (217 m)
11952 ft (3645 m) from being flat

CA:
highest point: 14,505 ft (4,421 m)
lowest point: -282 ft (-86 m)
14787 ft (4507 m) from being flat

On topic, CA is filthy rich (GDP larger than all but seven countries), has 13 naval bases, and outnumbers ID by 32,577,695 personnel.

Idaho has guns and isn't afraid of using them.

Idaho wins.

Heck, they should go for it.

I've been skating occasionally for about 8 years. Used to skate all over Hollywood with my friends. Never even bothered jumping over crap, really... biggest thing I ever did was ol'e up a curb.

Best thing I ever did was not eat it trying.

Now it's just an alternate mode of secondary transportation when a bicycle is too big (I drive a Mini).

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :I don't think I've ever seen that, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure they "could' glow, but I think if you're causing a steel disc to glow than you have some other issues to worry about... I've seen red hot pad dust coming off of brakes, but never seen a steel disc glow

Wow. Where have you been?

It has more to do with the thickness of the disc than material. It's just that those who need light (thin) brakes (that would be prone to glow) are intrinsically in the market for carbon/ceramic brakes.

But, yeah... I've seen (videos and pictures and forum posts) from plenty of people taking their stock cars (Audi TTs) out and making the brakes glow.

Quote from Crashgate3 :It depends how they are linked together - surely four 1-cylinder engines running at exactly the same speed would just be a normal 4-cylinder engine?

With a lot of redundant parts and extra weight and tranny friction and no scavenging and, and... four single cylinder engines are probably just going to be four times as rough, too, instead of much smoother.

If you spent a lot of money, maybe it could be done well, if impractically, but this is just...

Quote from tonyonparas :I just hate those dum americans who just hate japanese cars cos they sell more, last longer and arent shaped with an axe.
most of americans, i guess, dont know why to hate japs... they just do.

I don't like Japanese cars because they remind me of American cars. (Probably because they are trying to sell to an American market.)

They're only in it for the money. The cars ... are not art.

what would sprinkling anthrax on a parking lot accomplish anyway?

sounds like a huge, ineffective waste if you went through the trouble of actually acquiring some.

they weren't wearing any protection, either, were they?

What kinda paranoia inducing drugs was the witness on to actually think a scene like that was remotely suspicious?

Quote from The Very End :^_^

I got the point. It`s not fun to be behind people that drivers 10 km/h.
But when we speak about it? Does the Americans get trained in slippery roads when they are taking the lisence? Are they not trained in what to do if the road is slippery? The last thing you ever wants to do is to just slam the brakes and turn hard when it`s slippery, but it seems that most of them doesn`t know this :/

Well back topic, sorry just had to free my thoughts.

There are plenty of drivers (auto autodidacts ), but it's safe to say the vast majority are only trying to get from point A to point B and couldn't care less about technique. All you need to do to pass the test (in CA) is look around you like someone with ADD (intrinsically dangerous). Don't even need to go on the freeway...

Videos like that make me laugh. My first instinct in those cars would be more like steering the front wheels in the right direction (not beyond) and giving it a little gas... and I've never driven on ice!
