Yup. Wear and reliability (as well as economy and expense) aren't an issue in LFS.

Might as well be able to change the frame and chassis materials in the garage to various kinds of unobtainium and choose the lightest one.

Or how about the ability to change the wheels' track width? :ices_rofl

Where'd that come from?

Well, that's what Hyperactive has so far. Maybe these should be put in the improvement suggestions log, or...?

Wait a second--how could paying someone else money (actually, the persons who made the cars you drive) make you feel less guilty about the pollution you're still making?

Quote from mrodgers :There use to be a team called FOG. They've since changed their team to something else that I don't recall, but I remember being on their server once and making a comment like "crap, this set is junk here.." or something. Just a random comment because I didn't have a set that worked and would have been needing many pitouts to tweak something to work. I never asked for a setup, it was just a random chat comment, but a few seconds later, I had a terrible time trying to decide which of the 9 teammate's set to try because they ALL sent me a set, LOL

Setup pushers!

Not invaluable? I'm sorry, but your post is inflammable. :flamed:

Way I see it is, S2 isn't exactly that expensive. Why shouldn't they just buy it themselves if it's worth spending x hours playing?

Quote from Hallen :Uh, yes. Racing is entertainment. All racing is. Even in Europe.

I thought it was about R&D to help mankind in their daily lives. Entertaining, of course, but not strictly entertainment.

I suppose it could be likened to something like the space program. Don't tell me that's not entertaining--in fact, those [launch] events draw large crowds. (Whether or not the space program is an utter waste is beside the point--it's not "entertainment.")

P.S. the guy who posted that video happens to have a slew of great rally vids.

Quote from de Souza :on topic: never heard anyone call oval racing NASCAR

off topic: sounds TO ME that car racing the way it is in USA - drag, NASCAR, IRL etc. - are more for the show, more for entertaining the public than anything else.. you don't care who's racing (even because there's a LOT of cars), as long as they stay close and crash eventually. European car racing seems to be more on the pilots/mechanics/skills side...
remember: there should be exceptions in both places

An excellent observation!

Quote from thisnameistaken :All american sports are dominated by stats. Even when they play sports the rest of us play, they are compelled to track all manner of stats. Watch coverage of an MLS football game one day - the commentators produce stats for things that don't even have names in the rest of the world!

They try to make it more interesting--otherwise there wouldn't be commentators at all. Boring all by itself doesn't make good ratings. :P

W/R/T the original post, it's 'cause NASCAR is a disparaging term. That's pretty much it.

Quote from skiingman :Its silly to claim that it is "easy" to stand with a bike in balance, unless you wave your hands around and have a thoroughly corrupt definition of easy.

Also, while gyroscopic effects aren't dominant in keeping the bike upright, they certainly create some large forces when the axis of the wheel is rapidly accelerated. I'm guessing without further knowledge that its a factor considered in the design of the axles and bearings of bikes, and I'm also guessing that particularly in motorbikes these effects alter handling qualities significantly.

Depends on which way one spins the CD.

Okay, it's really difficult. Feel better?

I've seen this suggested regularly since the fall of '02, and even then I thought it was insulting to Scawen's judgment.

Sorry for being bitter all the time
