Aye, I think the eye position in the single-seaters is too high. I especially get that feeling in the MRT. If it's lined up with the helmet, then LFS-Man just needs to sit lower I guess.

Ever stop and wonder if they bothered making the windscreens on F1 and F3000 cars transparent for a reason? Uh, yeah.

Why ever not? It's been proven that it could be useful. The imaginary LFS mechanics can already do just about everything else...

Only con is it'll give everyone OCD when it comes to making their cars true & level with the driver in.

Quote from LFSn00b :Umm... Actally watch this: http://shin.bit.ac/ The creator of pixel/mangacars. First pixelcar was made in 06/08/01. All hail to the king Shin!:bowdown: And, the aa thing came in 2003?

Oops. You can make drifters. With tuning them a little bit and adding stickers.

Broheim, he was talking about why people started making cars using pixel art. That shin duder may have been the first to make that style of 'toon cars using the medium, but he sure didn't create pixel art. :nol2:

Quote from wikipedia :The term pixel art was first published by Adele Goldbert and Robert Flegal of Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in 1982[1]. The concept, however goes back about 10 years before that, for example in Richard Shoup's SuperPaint system in 1972, also at Xerox PARC.

P.S. sorry to quote something so old (november), but I had to...

Thanks all.

@ajp71: It's more frustrating to hear TC come on when it doesn't need to.
TC and speed limiter issue

When I try to turn my traction control or speed limiter on or off it takes usually anywhere from three to eight tries (regardless of where they are bound) before they switch. Does anyone else have this problem or know what might be causing it? It's only the TC and SL... very annoying as I try to turn TC off whenever the wheel's straight! Don't remember this happening before the last patch.

Quote from KanseiDneova :And, about that Jabroc plank on the bottom of the F1 cars, I think they should be fastened to the car with giant titanium bolts, so they will sprace all over the place, and make some pretty sparks.

Cheers,
Matt.

Wouldn't wear very well, would it?

Stop the press! It's not any old wood--it's Jabroc.

Quote from Another forum :It isn't just a block of wood though. It's called Jabroc. It's made of Beech wood and built in a composite process. Veneers are layered and a high strength resin is used in each layer, then they are pressurized and pressed, and brought to a certain and very consistent material density, so each Jabroc skid plank is essentially identical in terms of wear rate and material density, mere wood would not be even close to that consistent. So it may be a wooden product in nature, but the technology and process that goes into building it is right in place with most other objects on an F1 car.

Quote from AtomAnt :Trivia, why is there a center board (WOOD) on the bottom of the F1's

I don't see how that is the least bit trivial.

But I don't know about the sealant--if any--or species of wood (this would make a big difference in weight and water resistence (you would want to have the densest wood possible and take away what ballast you must, as the plank is lower than the ballast, and it would wear better (then that's only if you had a choice)))

If you don't want to bother with that you could just make the color of it blend into the skin.

However, I'd still like the option of taking number plates off completely for all cars (it has been suggested before IIRC).

+1 for putting flags on cars and next to names. +1 for hex colors and/or 0-256 RBG (for cars and wheels too).

Quote from duke_toaster :Where is the source of ignition in that case actually (ok, it might cause an electical problem near the fuel tank but flames coming out of the car are generally caused by engine/gear box/fuel tank faliure),

Well, realistically, it should be quite possible for (at least the BF1's) carbon brake discs to burst into spitting flames (the which being very hard to extinguish) with no petrol involved.

Also exhaust pipes, I imagine, are quite capable of setting many things ablaze: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GifqpYyo48Y as you can clearly see.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I think the early '70s 911s are some of the most attractive bits of design on the roads, but since then it seems the design has been diluted a bit too often, and I definitely wouldn't want a new one. I'd have difficulty choosing between a good vintage 911 and an E-type though, the old ones are lovely.

I'd take one of these http://www.racingsportscars.co ... 74/Spa-1974-05-05-014.jpg over the FZR any day.

Quote from wheel4hummer :Well, it is technically not possible to have negative force. Lift is not negative down force. Lift is an opposite force of downforce.

If you're a computer, lift is negative downforce (or vice versa)

Quote from Shotglass :where does my post disagree with that ? all i said was that dysfunctional forms dont look good

So you're saying a car is made ugly by a bad design, but not necessarily made attractive by a good design. Notwithstanding, unless you agree that it's made more attractive, your reasoning is fallacious. Still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Obviously some people think those "rubbish" aero designs like 911s and Lotus 7s look fabulous.

Well, obviously we know that real road cars have some lift forces and downforces going on, so I guess it's my little two cents improvement suggestion that we get to see those in the forces view--especially if it involves finally effecting them in the sim.

Well, does the suspension stand up a little going down a straight? Maybe this effect could be amplified in LFStweak if it exists?

And yeah, there are numbers for the wings and undertray which change but body's always 0... you'd think the FZR would be getting a little lift from its body, right?

Quote from Breizh :Wark, you can see lift force in the garage, in the downforce tab, furthest right.
Cars without aerodynamics work (all but the formulas) don't have the numbers.

Downforce is negative lift. Those are all negative numbers...

And I'm saying the cars without wings need the numbers.

Maybe if LFS modeled lift our minds would change about a lot of things.

And Shotglass, it doesn't always work like that... there's still a deal of art involved in function-over-form design. The Suzuki Hayabusa is supposedly a very aerodynamic bike. IMO It's the ugliest thing on two wheels.
