Add AI Error

I was starting up a Single Player game and when clicking on the "add AI player" LFS reports that A Race is in Progress (see screenshot).

Nice one, you managed to get that sync'd well.

Here's an rF Stig which is not bad.....ish

Quote from Hallen :I think a set of graphics and very simple, step by step instructions written for the computing challenged on the main LFS site would be the best way to go for now. Avoid comments like "Create a target directory". Just show the steps. Open My Computer by double clicking on this icon...

Agree

In which case this needs updating...

I keep considering rF but there STILL isn't a demo that gives you at least a try in one car and one track. OK, I could just go and purchase and get a refund if I don't like it, but to be honest why go through all that hassle?

The thing that pulls me towards rF is the sounds (ok, I know they're canned), but this is what is making me consider it. But, really without a demo how can you evaluate a product?

No, I was in full screen, got the error, took the screen shot, Shift+F4, pasted screen into paint and saved it, Shift+F4'd LFS window, took 2nd screen shot and pasted that into paint.

Reconnecting back to the same server a 2nd time didn't give the me error again. That's why it maybe a red herring because it's the first time I've had the error and the only change to LFS was the T3 patch. Also, no one else has reported this error (it could have been a comms problem with my internet connection).

Quote from duke_toaster :None. I tried the spotter, but it couldn't get it to work/ Probably the wrong port or something, but it might have been that it needs online or something.

What was the error, because it does work offline and it is very useful if you've got a low FOV and can't see the car beside you (without looking left/right of course). IIRC there was something to do with having a password in a multiplayer server set-up - search the add-ons section for the release of pitspotter, there's some help in there.

Quote from duke_toaster :Judging by the video, it would do a great job of getting me to swear at the screen. The voice would drive me NUTS. I'd consider trying to get it to work if, and only if, a non-US voice pack for it is available. Also, other languages might be liked by some. If a French, German or Non-US English pitspotter sound set was launched, I would use that

You get used to the voice and even on non-oval tracks it really helps when you're side-by-side going round a corner. You get the message "clear" when both cars aren't going to collide. I'd seriously suggest you try it and see if it helps.

As for non-US accent and other languages, yes that would be cool. Fairly easy to make as well as they are only wav files.

Not sure if this is a red herring, but when I was trying T3 and connecting to a T3 server I got the error in the screenshot, then the "did not receive track info"? When I reconnected to the same server again, I didn't get the error.

I haven't had much time to try T4 online yet, so can't be sure if I'll get it again...

Quote from Funnybear :Mate. Sometimes, with kids; an unsympathetic missus and counting pennies, a wheel just ain't the way is gunna be.

Man, I feel for you and I know where you're coming from. Mind you, £15 for Logitech Wingman FF off a mate aint bad and boxed when the missus is around was my solution You never know, you might get your kids to like LFS.....on second thoughts maybe not otherwise you'll never get to play!

Quote from MrGrumpy :And bloody 'auto update' on McAfee! (and probably other software too, but McAfee as far as I know doesn't allow you to specify what times auto-updates are permitted)

You can be happily racing around then all hell kicks loose (my PC stutters like mad as well as causing lag to others), just because an update is being downloaded.

Yes, I've had that same problem with AVG Free and just recently I had Spyware Doctor kick in and start a scan of my entire machine. I'd just installed Patch S and suddenly the frame rate went through the floor - I thought hmmm then realised that my anti-spyware was running in the background

You know the solution - easy, do a manual update of AV and turn off AS.

Quote from Becky Rose :The problem with WiFi is that the issue isn't apparent to the player themselves, which is why I made the post in the first place albiet with all the empathy of a falling elephant .

As for wireless, I've run LFS on a wireless laptop and never had anyone report that I was lagging, but then again I never asked so can't be sure for certain, but I'm sure if I was lagging and warping all over the place I'd soon know about it from others.

Quote from mrfell :i've been trying to download the new T patch this morning, and i keep getting an error whilst unzipping.

Anyone any ideas!!

Thanks

Andrew

EDIT

I've tried numerous different downloads and different unzipping software

EDIT

Just tried downloading the full download and still not working?!?

I noticed that the file size is incorrect on your screenshot (23,145) and it should be 28,426.

Try this (my hosted version) : http://www.ppcsystems.co.uk/LFS/LFS_S2_ALPHA_PATCH_T.zip

I just want to say thanks to the devs for releasing a polished physics update. All the cars I've driven so far feel so much more realistic now and the BF1, well what can you say that hasn't already.

When I took this baby onto South City Long Reversed I thought the car was going to literally take off (up the slip road towards to gas cylinder). I felt myself lift off the chair it was that exhilerating! Fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

Well, I'm sure we'll be in for more treats soon enough, but there's enough there to keep us occupied for a long time to come. Great work and keep it up!

Well done and we're all glad that you've seen the error of your ways! Paying for a license is the ONLY way we are all sure to see continued development of this sim and it's progression onto S3 (and beyond, hopefully). Nice one

About 1 to 2 hours a week. Browse the forums about an hour a day (on and off). Skinning maybe 2-3 hours a week. Still, feels like a lot and always seem to have "LFS on the brain!!", especially with this daily update and the impending patch

Anyone considered that this patch might turn LFS into Beta? I mean we all assume it's going to be Patch R, when the things the devs are working on might justify a beta tag. Dunno, just wondering, not that it makes a blind bit of difference though - Patch R or Beta 1 (for example), I don't think we all care, but it would mean that much closer to LFS S2 Final though.
