Quote from jibber :Ouch! Hope it'll be ok in the end, best of luck!

Cheers. They'll probably have built new bridges in Cumbria before this one gets sorted out.

@Bob - may be a solution if anyone can find him...

Flooded out? Yeah. I'm homeless, but its got nothing to do with the weather... Someone blocked up the sinks in the flat above mine, then left the taps running. All day. Idiot was trying to make a point, but was too stupid to understand that water flows with gravity. That means it goes downwards...

Pretty much destroyed everything in my flat. And guess who doesn't have any insurance.....

Quote from dougie-lampkin :Yes, there's loads of road legal ones around here, all you need (for Ireland + England anyway) is a rear number plate, brake light, headlight and tail light.

Get a 'Daylight MOT' and you won't even need the lights, though trying to find exact requirements for this test is a bit of a nightmare. Lots of test centres don't even know that you can apply for such a thing.

Quote from Becky Rose :

I'll goto Scotland, but I want the highland weather too

Agree entirely, and I'd be more than happy to make the journey into the highlands (though I'd love to see if the Manchester track Bob mentioned lives up to the three storey labyrinth that I have as an image in my head!)

Does that sound OK to everyone? And also have I missed anyone out who needs picking up?

OK? Really, it sounds amazing. Thanks for organising this so completely!

Just to let you know, I'll be one of those driving up on Friday - I'll probably leave late afternoon sometime. Is there anyone still needing a lift from London (or from anywhere along the M4)?

Quote from dawesdust_12 :That's why I don't get why people get annoyed when I'm doing bang on what the limit is, in any lane?

Its incredibly irritating for two reasons: firstly because those that indulge this moronic practice are so incredibly smug about it; and secondly, since overtaking on the inside is illegal and dangerous, by sitting in the middle lane you reducing a three lane carriageway down to two lanes.

You are the reason that traffic is tailing back for three miles.

Hunger

Very graphic, and occasionally a bit romanticised, but the conversation between Bobby Sands and Father Dominic, is a riveting bit of acting, even though the camera is utterly immobile for a 17 minute single take.

Like Gomorrah there's very little attempt to manipulate your emotions into identifying positively with anyone. This is something rare and beautiful in film these days. To look at a very brutal time and to so nearly never flinch once is worth at least an hour or two of your time.

Quote from lizardfolk :Basically someone argued that "racing is not important or relevant to society" and is "wasteful".

Whose society? The argument is one in which you are set up to lose no matter how much evidence you dig up. The questioner has an ideal society in mind, which he has not defined, so there is no way you can create a hierarchy of importance. Such hierarchies are stupid anyway; ultimately, the question attempts to relate various interests that have little in common and putting them in competition against each other is the cheap trick of a moralist and an idiot. Life is about chaos and variety. Enjoy it and ignore questions that have no answers.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :I think it's the coolest car chase, but the best has to be Ronin.

...which tips its hat a few times to "The French Connection"

Saw "Let the Right One In" the other night. Can't recommend it too highly. Beautiful and fascinating.

You're in a hurry and expect the world to be in synch with that neurotic impulse that has you believing its so important to be on time. In actual fact, if you never turned up for work at all, you'd soon be replaced and after a day or two, there wouldn't even be a ripple to signify your disappearance.

Take a sickie.

Quote from gezmoor :The fact that you, your boss and collegues can't tell the difference is actually irrelevant.

That is precisely what IS relevant, but since your argument uses some basic chemistry to prove social 'facts' I don't think its even worth discussing until you can untangle that mess of pseudo-logic.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :See the difference?

I see that you you wish to maintain some kind of moral difference, but I don't really see the point in doing so. Albert Camus once wrote that revolt is a matter of the heart ie: it is impulsive and doesn't yield to a rational, moralistic analysis.

However, he went on to say: "But there comes a time when it passes into the mind, where feeling becomes idea, and spontaneous outbursts end up in concerted action. That is the moment of revolution."

Call them what you will, but these people are pissed off. Some will remain what you call "criminals", some may yet become revolutionaries. Whatever, its not for you or I to name them.
