Quote from iTzKevinK :Is this the server with this map; http://beta.xfire.com/videos/3cf308 ?
If yes, any chance you can put the map back on? I liked it.

Yes it used to be, but we won't be running one layout exclusively anymore.
If you're after the layout, it was made by Phil 'PMD9409' Diaz and is part of his Drift Layout Pack, we just ran a slightly modified version with a lower object count for performance reasons.

E: Also I'd like to make something clear: This is not a new incarnation, it's exactly the same thing that went offline a couple of months ago, except now running 6B obviously. The InSim is identical, aside from a few minor fixes and compatibility modifications to make it work with 6B. The web-accessible toplist is no longer operational either.

903 points on default terrain, very slow:

I'll let it evolve some more, above is the 148th generation.

Quote from Becky Rose :If you do not stand against oppression then you have sided with the oppressor.

No, not steering to the left just means going straight, it doesn't mean steering to the right... at least not if your car is mechanically sound.

Quote from Cornys :I am racest, I prefer NASCAR over all other racing series! That mean's I'm racest! Same for all you F1 fans! and IndyCar fans! and...

I've had my G25 for four years, never had any problems with the wheel or pedals, but the shifter had to have virtually all original wiring replaced to function reliably.

Always 100% ingame FFB and 100% in profiler, 101% before they had fixed the non-linear-scaling issue. Pedals filled to the brim with dirt, dust and doghair, no spiking at all.
I open the wheel up at least twice a year for routine inspection and maintenance (grease), never had to do any actual repairs until ~3 weeks ago. Optical encoder casing had shaken itself loose, which caused friction between the PCB and plastic encoder wheel, which fractured as a result of that. A dab of hotglue solved that problem
It's never lost alignment, never lost FFB, never caught fire, never had electrical issues of any kind, it has no play, it's no louder than it was back when it was new, all buttons are working, it doesn't overheat... Yeah, I'd call it reliable all in all.

Quote from col :I disagree. IMO, it's behaviour that defines you within society. So someone who exhibits racist behaviour is a racist, someone who does not, is not.

Nice approach to making the world seem a happier place than it is, but I'm not going to argue about definitions. As I said, I actually don't want this discussion to stretch out.

Quote from col :I'm also uneasy about the suggestion that verbal/written racism can be ignored. Ignoring it is the equivalent of passively condoning it.

No, ignoring it is being oblivious to it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Quote from col :Getting banned from LFS is exactly the right way for a kid to learn what's unacceptable.

I'd say actual parenting is exactly the right way, but what do I know
Actually, according to your point of view, aren't parents passively condoning everything their child does? Don't respond, I know full well you don't mean that, just pointing it out.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Would you be offended if I said you're an idiot? What if I said Hungarians are a sub-race of humans and that's why you're not as smart as me? What if other people agreed or thought what I said was OK and you shouldn't make a fuss about it?

I'll pick this up even though it wasn't directed at me. No, I wouldn't be offended (substituting "Austrians" for "Hungarians" of course), because I partly agree () and because, quite clearly, you and all the other people are idiots. I'd be one if I cared what you have to say.

Quote from col :One of those laws is that we must not attack individuals or groups based on their race - or incite others to do so.

Is this in reference to racist activist groups / hate groups? Do you think those are the only racists? I assure you, of all the racists on this planet, very few are member of any racism-related groups. Fewer still are publicly attacking ethnic groups or hatemongering, and the "public" part is the important thing.

Quote from col :In your naive version of freedom (true freedom), Someone would be 'free' to murder your family - when you called the police, they would say "So he's a murderer, deal with it. Freedom works that way..." etc.

They wouldn't because they wouldn't exist, at least not as law enforcers since there wouldn't be any laws to enforce. However, I was in fact referring to what the current western society considers freedom. Unlike a murderer - who to be called that must have murdered someone -, a racist does no harm just by being. You could be a racist for all we know, just an introverted one so to speak. A racist is defined not through actions but thoughts, and those needn't be expressed to exist.

Quote from farcar :In my country (and many others), people don't have this right, which is a good thing.

Don't be silly, of course you have the right to be a racist. You even have the right to express that racism to some extent, though it is true that that's where some governments (and community managers, moderators, server admins, etc. for that matter) draw the line, particularly when - as col correctly states - you express it in a manner where it might incite others to adopt - and perhaps act on - your views.

Obviously this discussion has a lot of potential of growing long and windy, potential I'd like to see unutilised to be quite frank. My point was: Unlike physical attacks, verbal ones (at least written ones, oral ones depend upon method of communication) can be ignored. You're certainly not going to turn a racist by banning him from an LFS host.

So he's a racist, deal with it.
Freedom works that way, people have the right to be racists.

Quote from danthebangerboy :And as for the performance thing, god only knows, theres no fault codes stored anymore so its nothing MAF or EGR related as it would surely throw a code if it was?

It's a bit difficult to tell from the low res shaky video, but isn't that yellow light in the bottom left the MIL? If so, it has to have fault codes stored, it wouldn't light up otherwise.

Guys, this is Germany you're talking about, being German they obviously keep statistics (as do we, Austrians that is).

65.4% of all registered passenger cars are German-made (or at least wear a German brand's badge) and of 42.9 million passenger cars total, 9.1 million are VAGs, so about every fourth. This is straight from the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (Federal Motor Transport Authority) dated 01.01.2012, no bullshit made up statistics.

Quote from ACCAkut :but how did that guy find the similarity of Silverstone and that eagle? Who looks at some landscape pic and goes "hey, it looks like a racetrack"

Upside down at that O_o

€: Actually they could have just used some sort of "similar images" algorithm to find those.

I didn't know Joe, I only read a few posts of his, but that was enough to respect him. Not even necessarily for their content, but simply the eloquent and witty way in which they were written.
His family and friends won't have much use for my thoughts, but they might take comfort in knowing he was respected by complete strangers, so particularly his parents must have done something quite right
Useless or not, for tradition's sake, my thoughts go out to them.

Quote from The Very End :Also, are there som local flower delivery service there?

Don't know about "local", but Fleurop (link goes straight to Sympathy/Funeral selection) do world wide same day delivery

Did sold my wheels for a good price, now i have the orginal RC wheels.

Even though I generally like - if not prefer - OEM, I can't help but think yours was a massive downgrade.

Doesn't really matter whether you put them on a Prius or a 500hp Civic, because they almost certainly warp under braking, not acceleration

You muppets, cars are exactly where LEDs play out their advantages best!
They last virtually forever, consume little electricity, emit barely any heat and allow for much more compact designs. Besides, LEDs aren't necessarily brighter or colder.

My 5510 suffered a display failure from just dropping it on the kitchen table from no more than 30cm. Had it replaced, never had any issues afterwards.
My 3310 was very good, but not indestructible; my dog ate it.
My 6230i lasted 6 years before it developed the first issue that required soldering, but nothing I couldn't fix myself. It still works like new, though it doesn't look the part.
Current HTC Mozart survived a few drops as well, most of them I was sure would kill it. Few scratches and bruises but could still sell as new on ebay
