Well, there's also the fact that those V8 cars are much heavier than an F1 car, and have much less grip. They need to be lugged around a bit, so a super smooth style just wouldn't work.
But you're right. I remember Button's onboard from the 2005 Turkish GP and it was strange. Everything looked so smooth it felt like the car was driving itself!
To be fair with Mark, he's always been driving... incomplete cars in incomplete teams, to put it somehow. The Minardi was obviously hopeless. The Jaguar always lacked grunt, was very unreliable, and the team was an absolute mess. The BMW Williams lacked development, and the Cossie Williams lacked grunt, development, aero efficiency, was incredibly unreliable... a true backmarker's car. Yet he almost put it in P2 at Monaco! And yes, the team was upside down with financial issues too.
Red Bull is probably the first truly competitive drive he'll land. Just like Massa went from Crash Bandicoot to a much stable racing driver, I think we might see the same with Mark Webber at RBR / Renault. Hopefully!
BTW, my tip goes to Kimi. And I don't even like Ferrari in the first place.
But hey, Alonso's gonna struggle with McLaren's issues (who have the unreliable (2005) and/or slow (2006) Mercs, and lost a few important people in the aero department, not to mention Adrian Newey!), Fisichella's just slow and unimpressive, Hamilton and Kovalainen won't put a blinder on their rookie seasons, and Massa might lose to Kimi if things go alright for him, and will be forced to play a #2 role.
And of course, Button will probably be right behind the leading team, as usual, and will continue to spank the living crap out of Barrichello. Will keep scoring assloads of podiums, and maybe another win. But he won't fight for the championship.
Are you having heavy hard disk activity during those lockups?
To me it sounds like a driver issue. What motherboard do you have? Maybe it's time to get a chipset driver update... not to mention a SATA-IDE driver upgrade too. Hadn't you installed any driver updates by those days when the lockups started?
Using the System Restore could help, too. I'm a bit short on ideas to be honest, but that's what I'd try if you already checked for virus.
Respect the yellow and blue flags, don't crash, bumpdraft or do other silly moves and you should be OK on most servers, keyword being most because there's some servers a bit rougher on their enforcement of rules.
Plus, racing with faster people WILL make you faster! It's a fact, so go online! If you don't go online, you're missing so much from the game.
Lesson learnt the hard way. I've been a demo user for months and I still can't control the XRT. Hell, even the XRG punches me back from time to time...
I think it's geeky, but does it matter anyway? I enjoy the game, and that's what matters. Not to mention it has improved my real-life driving quite a bit. I don't feel proud to tell girls or friends about it though. (I'm a part time musician, and that's much more fun to talk about... girls love guitar players!)
Unfortunately, I'm broke by now. HOWEVER... College will be over in around 2 months. Expect a S2 licensed Marty for South America's summer time!!
Seriously. I don't want LFS to mess with my college grades! But once it's done...
