You can play from cockpit, with a FF wheel, three pedals, no aids right now. But you want to get some credit for that? So you can say I am HARDCORE simracer, I play only in HARDCORE mode? And everyone will know who these HARDCORE simracers are, as they play on their own HARDCORE servers, separated from the rest, non-hardcore simracers. Or what is it all about? For me it's about fun and clean racing, I couldn't care less how hardcore someone is.
Until everyone of us have peripheral 180° screen in front of us, it's too early to talk about forced cockpit view.
Anyway I copy/paste a part of my "discussion" on this matter from the old RSC thread:
Besides all that, there are so many other "unrealities" about the game and the way we play it. This is a game, which we play on our computers the way each one of us prefer.
Having a bigger monitor gives some advantage compared to 15", especially in cockpit view. Some have 15" monitor and play with a mouse, and other with a 40" screen, FF wheel and three pedals. Some use 60° fov and claim it represents the view realisticly, other uses 95° to see the side mirrors. I don't care how others play it.
And as for other options like forced TC or fuel amount, or no damage repair or whatever, that's a different story, I'm for it.
Join only with 107% or under of WR, or 110% or whatever. Something like that's been suggested numerous times, here and on RSC. There are a few arguments for, and of course there turn out to be a few of those who are against:
"We just can't shut away the noobs."
"Race in leagues if you want to have clean racing."
And other similiar blah blah blaaah.
In reality a noob whouldn't race a schumacher. Besided to all, they have to drive no slower than 107% of the fastest time to qualify for the race. They qualify with other racers on track, I know. This has already been practiced in leagues, so why not to have an option for public servers too?
Just get S2 and start enjoying it now! It's many years before we see S3 (S2 final is not yet out!). You'll probably have to pay £12 for S2->S2 upgrade then, but why worry about it now?
You have over a terabyte traffic and pay $0.90 per month? Sounds unbelievable! Maybe you are talking about some hosting site with add banners or something?
Ha! Those who don't have a credit card or paypal or young fellas who don't even have an account transfer him money to his bank account or send him cash and he delivers to them a voucher via e-mail
picotto, LFS 1 and LFS 2 sound like they are two different games. This is not the case, they are called LFS S1 and S2. S stands for stage. Currently it is LFS Stage 2 Alpha, version 0.5U. The difference between S1 and S2 is now in content.
Would it be possible to make sound volume adjustments right? I set it to 0, which would be no sound, still it is pretty loud. And there is no way to adjust messages and clicks volume.
That is very good you tested it thoroughly. Often people report bugs before proper testing, OC'ed, faulty hardware, bad connection and what not. This is not the case with you here, but one has to state these things from the beginning so Scawen knows what kind of fault he is dealing with. Or maybe you did it already and I missed it.
The only time I had similiar problems was when I had uploads running or heavy packet loss.
Try to ping the host IP when you have that kind of bug. Don't leave the server or track, minimize LFS and run command line. Then ping the host for example one hundred times. On windows it is ping -n 100 IP. Then you can go back to LFS and play and let the pinging run. Later see what ping is and how much there is packet loss, if any.
I know you said restarting helps, but you can still try that just to see what kind of ping you will be getting.
I use netlimiter to get host IP, and I can also see traffic graphs in it from LFS.
