Quote from logitekg25 :ok i will remember that, and try to get a friend to do it with me.

Well its not like religion to have someone with you, it just really makes life alot easier.

I get to the track (mind you i have a ute, holden rodeo). I park up, and start unpacking. i have to pull everything off before i take out the gokart. to remove the gokart (which has no body, no front wheels to fit in the tray) i have to slide the ass end all the way out and place it on the ground with the front end still on the ute. I then have to put my trolley together lift up the front almost vertically, place the trolley inline with the kart and lift the kart on the trolley on my own. i then have to put it all back together, unpack my tools and get everything prepared. Ive spent close to 20-30mins on doing everything all ready when i could have been doing something abit more usefull. Mind you the lifting back and forth does get annoying especially at 6am in the morning. Ill then roll my kart all the way to get it scretineered a good 100m away max sign in and roll back and setup my kart. Whatever i need to do next ive got to wait because of drivers breifing and practice follows straight away.

Thats just before practice. I can manage fine but by the time i get to the out grid, run my trolley to the in grid, get back to the out grid, sit in my kart, im ready to sleep. With someone else it just makes it easier. When i was young id help my brother with this kinda stuff and even though i didnt do much lifting etc, id play a big part and make things easier for him.

On track to be honest, im not effected at all. WHen im behind the wheel, im fine, full of energy and fully focused. But when i have a mate with me, i tend to be abit more alert and slightly more focused, and thats what you want.

One helpful tip

Have a friend with you! full stop. Life on the track becomes so much easier when its easier off the track, trust me on that. I do it all on my own and its a bloody headache by the time i do my practice session.

logitekg25, a great point about karting is the low low costs compared to other competitive motorsports. Karting being a real competitive sport and perhaps ALOT.. no.. a sh*t load more competitive than most motorsports, the low cost factor is great.

But you have to realise something mate, eventually you will realise that you wont be able to keep cutting costs. Sure, cutting costs on gear, spares, 2nd had parts etc is good and all, but if you want your 'racing career' to progress, your going to have to keep putting money into what they call 'a black hole'.

You may not like it, but thats the reality. Understand that you need a good satisfying budget.

I thought i could continue cutting costs. Id get to a race with new tyres, new this and that and do a great racing meet. Next race ill stick with my current tyres and cut costs in many ways. Starts turning out that the guys in first place just get new tyres. New parts. New this and that and even though your talented, your disadvantaged.

It all depends mate, if you want to compete and compete full stop, keep cutting costs. If you want first place, your going to have to spend.

...and spend... and spend... and spend..

oh and with gear. You can cut costs and get away with it. Your gear dont make your kart faster. But at the same time, when i first started, i bought el-cheapo suit, big fat cheap racing boots, uncomfortable gloves and a $100 helmet that was shocking. Oh and my rib protector was not a protector, it was more of a rag disguised and packaged as one. I think all up i spend $200-300AUD and it did the job. Eventually, my suit would suffocate me and id be better off in 4 jumpers and jeans. My boots were too fat and couldnt really feel the throttle well, i was better off with space boots. My helmet would shake so much, i could hardly see the track (i thought it was ment to be that bumpy). I would boil, overheat and be fustrated with my gear, yet again, i thought it was ment to be like that. To also add, i eventually fractured my left side ribs due to not enough protection and too much track time. I thought id buy better gear for 'style' only. I bought a $600 CRG MIR racing suit and $200 CRG MIR racing shoes, better gloves and a $800 helmet with venting 100x better. Oh, and a 350$ top end rib protector. I now keep cool, feel the pedals more, see better, and dont feel a single nudge around my ribs. I spent a shit load of money and believe it or not, it made me much quicker and made me able to focus more on my driving rather than getting thrown around. It made me much more consistent.

Good luck though!

Actually just afew days ago i was with my friend driving with his family and all his young kids. I was in the passenger seat and his wife and kids all in the back jumping around being silly.

Going through an intersection with the green lights for us roughly at about 60kph out of no where we get t-boned in the intersection. The impact was really big and for a 4wd ford territory 2005 model, it absorbed most of the impact. My friend walked away limping with a swollen knee and his 4 year old kid with a bump on the head.

The other guys car was totaled and his hand was busted, which he deserved.

Everyone was shooken up about it and in abit of shock. I suppose lucky me also to have been in uncountable accidents, it didnt faze me

Lucky that everyone walked away.

Not really sure whats harder to accomplish..

Winning a WDC in Formula 1 or winning an iPhone debate.. Each is full of robots, ignorant people, plenty of fans, plenty of haters and lots of technology at its pinnacle to discuss.

I kinda get it now. They are allowed to have rights for anything with the cars/drivers etc but dont have the rights to use the f1 name or service.. (name, logo, track titles etc.

Id assume Red Bull would be under Renault and IF Mclaren, under Mercedes etc.

Could someone explain how GT5 getting some F1 cars would work legally?

Dont codemasters own the rights or something? I just dont understand completely how it works.. :/

Chassis flex...

...ill donate $200AUD to LFS if the simulate chassis flex, lean/rich engines and being able to tune it.

If not, its pointless. IMO it woud be a kart with f1 physics in the size/shape of a gokart and have a steering of 90degrees.

Quote from G!NhO :It's no problem here in holland and it is legal.

Well that's fair enough. In Australia, it would be a probelm. Im sure in other countries it would be too.

Its illegal for a reason. What, people are trying to say because of its pros and being in the right hands that its OK? For medicinal uses? Yes that's clearly correct..

..but what about the high amount of people who abuse it..? Driving while high, coming into work high, doing things high etc..

So it should be legal because some people wont abuse it? Crime will increase, death rates will increase, everything will for the rest of people who abuse it. What about their lives? What, their choice?

Medicinal is fine, some doctors prescribe it..some people actually need it, but that's it.

Lets legalise cocaine and speed because they have pro's too. OH and lets not forget steroids because there are a shit load of pro's there. Guns should be completely legal without a licence etc because theres pro's there too and being in the right hands, it should be. Surely ill get flamed and hated for saying this, but cant help but think.. ...i thought this community was smarter than this...

So stupid..

I think consoles have completely lost it. Especially for "simulators".

Simulations especially, is all about feel. What the hell do you feel pushing air aorund as if its a steering wheel? a breeze? Unless they can somehow invent air to have force feedback, ill stand my ground saying its stupid.

Currently using Firefox and Chrome.

I didnt like Opera at all and happy that im using something other than IE.

Ill end up using one or the other most of the time.

I guess each browser is different in their own way. All have good features.

I like how Chrome has its downloads at the bottom of the screen and no pop up downloads.

After mostly ease and speed. I dont need no fancy plugins etc or cool stuff, just a fast browser that doesnt have many bugs and something with ease that remembers passwords etc best.
