I would have installed Gentoo on it, and used it for web developing stuff/samba file server/torrent client or something else useful. And then putted it away somewhere and just used SSH to admin it.

If it's a HD mediaplayer, it's quite strange it doesn't support mkv. See if there's a newer firmware for your player. Could be a bug that causes the problem.
There's lots of things that needs to be ironed out for hotlapping. Scawen himself admitted a while ago that the hotlapping part has been neglected far too long, and that he was meaning to work more on it.

What if when you start LFS, then switch to window mode (shift-f4), and back to fullscreen again? Does the framerate go normal again then?

Of course you can't hear how it sounds when you speak, cause it's the normal way of speaking for you. So the danish don't hear that they have a potato in their throat, and the Norwegians/Swedes don't hear that they are singing the words. Although the singing stuff is mostly coming from the people living in the south of Norway. Up in the northern part we have a different dialect, and doesn't sound like that at all - I think... Kinda like it is between English and Scottish I guess.

Good idea. You can learn a lot from just observing and listening to whats going on. Most of the die hard simmers do have airport and landing/takeoff maps though, which they use when planning their flights according to what kind of weather/winds it is.
Headset and communicating with text commands kinda works.
Wouldn't surprise me if they know each other then. Especially if your uncle is also flying online on Vatsim.

Nah, lot's of people build their own flight sim cockpits. My uncle has been interested in airplanes his whole life, and if it hadn't been for a car accident in his youth, where he lost an eye, he probably would have been a real pilot now.
