Quote from Gnomie :I guess what he meant was that Jay's LFS experience made him more likely to win the competition. I don't think the non-LFSers stood much of a chance really.

Too bad I wasn't there to challenge him. I'm usually quite good on SO2. But then, if I did win, it would probably cost twice the price of the car to get it into this car hating country.
Anyway, congrats with the win Jay. Awesome prize you got there!

Cockpit view, FTW!! Chase view is for NFS and arcade games, and has no place in a real racing simulator!

Someone once posted a great and funny picture about all the "realistic" driver positions that LFS provided. It's buried somewhere else in this forum, but I can't find it.

You can also rename the thread title and add [SOLVED], or something like that to it. vBulletin does have a option for thread prefixes, but it's not activated here.

If you don't get it sold, you could maybe use it as a file server. Or convert it to a media center box. And since it already has Ubuntu on it, then boxee is perfect for it.

Quote from The Very End :I'm sure that Norway don't win a shit..
Well maybe in rowing, but that's the only thing that there is a chance for us to win in.

Football, handball, javelin and maybe the sexy walk contest.

Quote from (FIN)Eza :If your monitor can show 60Hz, 75Hz or 100Hz.. You just don't simply need the higher fps. My screen (LCD television) can't show more than 60Hz and I have vsync enabled + fps limited to 60. And pc has enough raw power to keep it there no matter what happens on screen. That's how, no matter what I do on track, I always have same driving environment.

Same here. 1680x1050@60Hz, vsync and fps limited to 62. Gives less stress to the cpu too.

And from Wikipedia:

Quote from RocksGt :Do you think Mateusz's WR's are not fair?

I have used mouse longer than I have used a wheel, so I certainly don't have any disrespect against mouse users.

Waiting for arrechee to beat it with 0.4s (using AC).... :eclipseeh

Quote from Glenn67 :Go back to when S2 was first released and at that time there was no clear advantage of using a macro because the button clutch and autoclutch worked in much the same way. Between then and now something has changed in the way the autoclutch operates to give it a distinct disadvantage.

Exactly.

Quote from MaKaKaZo :I totally agree with you. It's like using automatic gears. If you use automatic gears, how can you say "it's not fair that the people using manual gear shifts are faster than me"?

There are automatic gears in real life that's faster than manual gearing. Anyway, to keep hotlapping fair, each method should be equally fast. Or we need separate hotlap lists for each method.

But the point is, you can't say that macro/button really isn't any faster, when in fact yourself and a few others of us have proven that it is. No matter how flawed the autoclutch may be, the fact still remains that for the time being it is slower than the other methods. Imagine in hotlapping, two equally fast drivers are doing the same combo. Both are using autoclutch, and have done a lap at the very edge of what is possible. The time difference between their laps is, lets say, 0.08s. Now the one that is 0.08s behind switches to macro/button clutch and instantly do a lap 0.3s-0.4s better. How is that not a huge advantage? And there is also the issue of more clutch wear when using autoclutch.

Zip the patch and then upload it? Or just name the file .patch.txt and let those who download it remove the .txt by renaming the file. Takes 5 seconds.

Quote from Jakg :If your interested - most of the work the "tech guys" seem to do is install Norton and fix overheated PC's (i.e. the P4 that idled at 90° C and I watched as he spraid compressed air in (while it was on - oddly!) and the CPU temp dropped...)

I'm a "tech guy", and I mostly find myself uninstalling Norton, because of all the problems it causes. We sell HP and Fujitsu-Siemens computers, and a 60-day version of the crap is preloaded on every one. On the pr0n/warez issue, I just ignore it.

Quote from chanoman315 :i think it works just the same as the macro... i'd guess that .3 slower than the macro... human reaction against pc reaction.
PC FTW?

Yes they both accomplish the same thing, while still being faster than autoclutch. If it's true they intentionally made autoclutch slower than manual clutching, then it's a real shame. I would think that the majority of drivers don't have a clutch axis available.
