If you don't have a decent setup for a track car combo just ask but not while everyone is racing most give out sets so there should be no problem there
I for one am thankfull they didn't wait till S3 until they released LFS to the public, I would have missed all the fun I've had over the last year and a half
I own about 80% or more of racing games and sims released on PC, and LFS is the only one to keep me playing for longer than three weeks
imagine if LFS still wasn't released at all, I'd be alot further along in my house renovations that's one thing for sure LOL
Good to see some more Americans getting S2, the more the merrier cause it means I might be able to race more than 2 people at once soon I mainly race in the am here in Aus which is your pm i guess
Your right you know all the females use male names to stop from getting harassed on the internet and alot of guys like to masquerade as females for.. well stuffed if I know why guys wanna be females, but you get my point
Normal/Hybrid setup for 15 laps is good haven't tried it much longer than that but I think I could go much further on normal/hybrid config (after 15 laps there is no red only green..)
Sounds like a good format to me but alas I'm in a difficult time zone and without a good internet connection at the moment so not possible for me..
But hope u go well with it, I think it would make for some great racing.. If I could do it I would choose the xfr just for the pure fun of overtaking a few stray GTR's
I think the hybrids need to heat up and wear even more than they do at the moment on tarmac.. I can do 4-5 laps no problem with Hybrid/Hybrid setup at race pace (for me thats mid 132xx to low 133xx) and can easily do 12-15 maybe more with Normal/Hybrid setups... (this is with xf gti on blgp)
Hi m8, good to see u out and about in lfs again I've seen ur svr up and have wanted to join it but alas i'm still stuck on a less than average connection and your server's ping is way bad for me but its good to hear that there's more activity in South Africa now
Sounds great just hope that there's more than two on at a time though.. as for track/car combos i like them all fo8 and gtr's aren't my favourite though but for longer races i could even be convinced to give them ago
I too prefer longer races and aren't able to join a league due to RL commitments, am 37 years old and race as fairly as possiblebut never can plan when I will be online from week to week, so its mostly 5 lappers for me also with the occasional 8 - 12 laps and once every blue moon a 20 lapper when there's a server running that config I have my own svr which I normally run at 12 laps but struggle to get much interest
Wouldn't it be true as in real life that even with the same oportunities and knowledge we all wont be the same as we dont all have the same mental and physical atributes so we can only hope to be the best we can be
I dont compare myself to wr holders, sure i study their hotlaps in great detail to improve myself but the difference is im happy when i can see progress ie new pb's or better consistency there's always enough racers around to find some at your level and have a good battle or two..
A unique nickname is a good idea atleast it will stop innocent peeps getting bad reps because of deliberate copying.. they have had registered nicks in chat progams and TS forever..
Setup a private server for you and your friends on demo.. then you will have no problems.. if you want others to come and join also, post the password on the forum or pm to intersted individuals. Thought that's what CRC was doing though but doesn't seem to have happened
Demo servers are full most times Im online anyway (and I'm mostly online when LFS is at its lowest activity), so dont think it will have any impact on sales by running 1 or 2 private servers on demo for those who want clean races.. and besides there will always be some of us that just enjoy going onto demo to meet new people and encourage them in this great world of virtual racing even though at times it seems like the demo servers are full of wreckers I still often find newbie's that want to learn..
Well i taught myself with pc's so there no reason u cant but just make sure you read the manual carefully and understand it before u make any changes.. im sure if u have questions we can answer them as we go along..
Mm first i must warn you, its not a good place for people that don't know what they are doing to start poking around in.. bit like the system registry in windows OS, if you get it worng it can make it quite difficult to get the computer back up and running for the uninitiated, also the same symptoms may not be caused by the same thing on your PC necissarily..
anyway if your still game.. when you first turn your computer on, you will see a message flash up temporarily in the bottom left or right corner saying "press del to enter setup"
or on some pc's it might be F2..
setup is where you change BIOS settings.. if you are new to it as u say u are id suggest u find a manual for ur specific motherboard (the name of the motherboard often is displayed momentarily at initial startup also..) if you dont have a printed copy of your motherboard manual, you can normally find a PDF version on the drivers CD that came with it - and if you cant find your drivers CD then go to the manufacturers website and you should be able to download it under there support section.. whew
In the manual youll find a section listing all the menu options for your bios setup screens, look through it for memormy timing and that will point u in the right direction.. just remember dont change anything unless ur absolutely sure of what your doing and you should be right.. the reason why im giving such strong warnings about this is because if you set the memory speed to a setting too fast for the computer to handle.. some pc's will just keep crashing even before u can even get into the bios (its rare but ive seen it) and the only way to get back it to bios to rectify it is to clear the cmos chip via a hardware jumper on the motherboard.. so while it is easy to do there can be many pitfuls..
Yes its a bios setting and the higher the number the slower it is, like ping times.. generally from previous experience i've found its normally only 1 or 2 of the settings that need to be slowed (when there is memory probs) but unfortunately it requires a bit of experimentation to find out which ones need changing..
I suggest putting them all at the slowest setting first to see if it fixes the problem, and if it does, change one setting at a time till u have got the best perfomance while still being stable..
