Quote from -NightFly- :this:

I did the same thing with my van.

So now we need to install extra protective gear in fear of being robbed? Oh, how far will the moral decay of society go?!?!

OH THE INHUMANITY!!!

Well on a more serious note, can't really argue with that. Nevertheless sad.

Just one problem with that logic. Why would you put one way glass, which is obviously more expensive then normal one, on a van?

Best chance is that at one time, the original windows were broken so they replaced them with the cheaper panels.

Quote from logitekg25 :ok so christmas is coming up in a few months, and my mom wants my anual list, so she can..."get them to santa on time" :hide:

but all i can think of that wont ruin our finances for a while, is a mini fridge. so i put that on my list and im stumped..

so post what you want for christmas, or what you are getting someone else that you wanna share.

or just post some ideas for me

IMAGE OF MINI-FRIDGE

I'm sorry, but the fact that you're an american and your number one wish is a mini-fridge just makes me remember of a certain stereotype

Ok, leaving that aside, I think a mini-fridge goes completely against your "not ruin finances" policy. I mean it's pretty useless if you ask me. What's wrong with just walking to your normal fridge when you want something? There's no need for one. I suggest you rewrite your wish list

Pro-tip Franky.S - You're not gonna get any in your moms basement.

First of all, I'm East European and therefore I automatically qualify for sex five times a day with hot, steamy, under-aged blondes.

And secondly, either I am unable to see the irony in your post, which I doubt due to the seriousness of your affirmation, or you seem to have missed my irony. I thought the illiteracy would suffice in highlighting it.

I think we all learned an important lesson today, folks, especially about homosexuality. Truth be told, who are we to judge someone else's choice. I mean, deep down, there is a small homosexual inside all of us.........wait.......that metaphor just went somewhere horrible.

IGTC Season Finale - 8h of Aston Historic

After 7 rounds of intense endurance racing, the IGTC 2010 season would come to an exciting and eventful end on the 4th of September at Aston Historic, the same track on which the prestigious championship ended last year.

ineX racing would start in second place with Dennis Lind at the wheel. He quickly took the lead during the opening laps and started to put a gap between him and the rest of the field, with Heikki Jaakkola in the Spdo Racing #1 FZR being the only driver to maintain Lind's pace. This would equate to Lind being passed by Jaakkola at the end of his first stint. The ineX driver would encounter a couple of safety car deployments during his second stint, but halfway through, a mistake caused him to spin in the high speed chicane which lead to a hefty collision with the outside wall. Amazingly, the car escaped unharmed and a minimal amount of positions where lost. Bad luck would strike again however, as an incident with the Conquest Racing car would drop the #35 ineX Racing entry to tenth position. He would continue on to drive an amazing third and final stint, recovering lost time and putting the ineX Racing car into 4th position before handing it over to Teemu Iivonen.

Luck would ensue quickly after Iivonen got in the car, as a safety car deployment evened the grid and guaranteed the Finn an opportunity to pass the cars of Spdo Racing #2, and Simon Cattell of Meh Racing. After grabbing second place he would loose it to the Spdo Racing #1 entry while My3id Gaming were in close pursuit. Unfortunately this chase would come to an end when Iivonen lost control in turn one and collided with retaining wall. Yet again, the car would escape undamaged, only bearing body damage and the damper damage this track naturally causes. Going into his second stint, he decided not to repair the damaged dampers. This later proved to be a mistake as the the Finn would lose a half to a full second per lap based off his normal pace. This would equate to Rudy van Buren jumping in the car sooner than planned.

After taking the time to repair the body and damper damage done to the car, van Buren would leave the pits in 12th position with the engine slightly damage. This would leave the ineX Racing car a handicap of -1 km/h on the long straights. It seemed a small price to pay, but it would be enough to frustrate the dutch driver. All hope would be lost when Rudy spun in turn one. Lucky a safety car deployment would quickly turn the situation around and a now very motivated Rudy van Buren would embark on a breathless drive, passing two and three cars at a time on the long straights. This would eventually put the team up to second position, behind My3id Gaming. With equal pace the battle for first position would be decided by a driver change made by My3id Gaming, which allowed Rudy to take the lead. My3id would follow in hot pursuit but eventually went off the track and allowed the "Flying Dutchman" to bring the ineX Racing car to victory lane 22 seconds ahead of second place finishers, Sonicrealms.

Even so, Sonicrealms would end up winning the championship with ineX Racing taking a very respectable 4th place. Especially when taken into consideration that ineX only finished five of the seven races, and only Sonicrealms's, Conquest's, and My3id's ten bonus points for completing every race separated ineX Racing from first place in the championship. We have greatly enjoyed the challenge presented to us in this IGTC season. We look forward to this and other upcoming endurance racing events and championships in the very near future.

The actions themselves have explanations in psychology if not in other sciences as well. The way we interact with our environment is strongly related to the way we perceive it which is in turn related to the way we have evolved.

As said above, we are programmed by nature to have a sense of self preservation and a desire to perpetuate. Pretty logical so far. Wouldn't have survived so far if we didn't had the will to live. Going back in time when predators where a constant danger to let's say a tribe, members of said tribe would be presented with deadly scenarios. When faced with such scenarios, they would automatically start to put in balance all the factors and then take a decision. Let's leave all the factors but two alone: the instinct to survive as an individual and as a group. They will move on to measure and balance these two instincts. Those that put individual survival above will flee and those that considered group survival to be of more significance will sacrifice themselves to allow the rest of the tribe to escape to safety. What's remarkable is that those that choose to sacrifice themselves will rarely be at peace with the decision. This is due to the fact that the instinct to survive as a group will be in direct conflict with the instinct to survive as an individual. So effectively if we choose to buy time for the rest of the group, we will be nevertheless reprimanded by our mind for going against our most basic rule.

A couple millenniums until the present day, not much has changed in the way we think. If those religious fanatics consider that by committing suicide, they greatly help the survival of their group, then they will do it. You could also say that there is a loophole when it comes to religious fanatics. If they have a strong believe in afterlife then they don't see suicide as ending their existence. They see it as a gate through which they just simply continue to exist in another form, in another realm so basically not going against the basic rule of survival. And even if it does, the inner conflict between instincts mentioned above applies to this situation as well.

Quote from spacedskunk :And what if the person accepted death as a matter of honour to their culture?

Clearly a change in reasoning due to the culture seeing as we're all normally programmed by nature to run and preserve ourselves if all else is lost. But perhaps it's a loophole. What if the culture's stance on death rose up from the fact that the respective people looked highly upon those who gave their lives for the rest to survive.

Although you have given a very brief definition. There are quite a few scenarios in which one would be given the option of "accepting death" so what specific case are we talking about?

Quote from zeugnimod :Remove religion = remove the possibility of mis-interpretation and misuse of it

Remove technology = remove the possibility of mis-interpretation and misuse of it

I am in no way religious, in fact I could call myself an atheist or at least a blend of atheism with borrowed teachings from mainstream and not so mainstream religions but that's another discussion so let's leave it at that. The thing is that by adopting such a point, you are no better then the religious zealots. Religion could offer us so much if we would actually use it towards what it should represent. Studying the possible existence of a creator force, trying to define life and existence, searching for meaning and many other. I know you could just simply deny such an assumption from the very beginning but that's such a shallow way of thinking. We like to consider ourselves as beings of reason, yet we blindly hang on to one idea and completely disregard anything else. Why not study every possibility without starting from predetermined opinions?

Religion as is the case with biology, chemistry and just about anything has the power to do as much good as it can do bad. The problem here is us. The way we use it. It is such a "do this and you'll be rewarded, do that and there will be consequences and never question" now as it has been for millenniums.

Religion could rightfully take a place next to the other sciences towards bettering humanity but only if we would learn to use it properly.
