Quote from flymike91 :***k you, fanboy

Seriously, though there is no reason for development to be this slow. If money is the issue, do the devs not realize that people would pay right now for any new content? I could round up at least 100 forum users who would be glad to pay $10 for the scirocco to be done, or for Rockingham to be completed, or...anything. Anything at all. Is time the issue? What else are they working on? Most people work from 9-5 and still manage to do some of the other things they want to do. Again, money is a great motivator for someone to get to work and they could have money flowing in by tonight if they wanted. I believe they are simply no longer interested in lfs and would like to stop working on it, but there is too much bitching on the forums to ignore. If we all just stopped expecting updates lfs could die a peaceful, quiet death. I stopped playing lfs and moved on to better, more modern sims. Shouldn't we all?

Who's the fanboy here? Crying over your fav game. Get a life If you moved on from LFS why are you still typing in the forums? You just need someone to blame, cause ur pissed off from the fact that there have been no serious updates for so long.

Ok, can we please not turn into another demo user-flame thread? At least take in mind that this thread doesn't deserve it.

In 10 years the community will completely lack spelling skills and everyone will laugh at newcomers in the forums when they type correctly.

Oh, and demo users will no longer register in the forum, because "fire-starters" (like the OP in this thread) will rule this place. Moderators will quit, because they will have to close 99% of the newly started threads and 99.99% of the old threads(unlike now - 90% of the newly started and 95% of the old ones), because everyone will flame at everyone for each word they say, unless they team-up to flame at a demo user or at the devs. This would all be the result from the addiction to LFS no matter what the development speed is.

ps: Don't you actually realize that the so-called fanboys are the ones that don't care about LFS as much as the ones that call them fanboys? That makes no sense... Whiners calling normal people fanboys... This community is making no progress at all, but yet, whining about the progress on the game and calling the ones getting annoyed of all that whining with names(most used of which is "fanboys"). Weird way of thinking if you ask me.

Now I just have to wait and see how much time will pass before someone picks up 1 word from what I said and starts to twist it around, trying to make me look bad.

Hello racers,

Today (23 Dec 2009) is -OsR-'s AutoX day.

If you want to suggest a layout you can reply to this thread or to the Layout suggestions thread in THC forums.
It is required that you upload the layout as an attachment or send it as a pm to me. Also you can tell us which cars you suggest to be allowed for best racing experience on your layout.

At the moment we are using Ales_M's kart layouts.

Have fun and good luck on the track.

Quote from PedraumF :Why wouldn't it work? Sometimes you need someone to overtake you, like in slow practice laps, and pressing just one key istead of two would be a good help.

Not really helpful that "9, no, aww 8, not, 9, sorry, I meant 0"...

Maybe it would be better for everyone if the indicators were included in the key options with an option to each indicator key to make the same key responsible for turning the indicators on as well as turning them off.

As for your first question: I didn't take in mind all the facts.

I will let you make the conclusions on your own.
By the way: My lil bro has one of the many smoke mods from there and it is working. I saw it with my very own eyes

Quote from dumbass0 :I think its more to do with the number of particles than their longetivity.

Just as people can overkill a map with barriers/cones/etc. they can abuse particles. With that said, its definitely an interesting idea. What makes you so sure that this will work and that people arent going to be able to circumvent the "hiding smoke" bit though?

People use speed hacks too now... You can't be sure of anything. Plus, I never said I'm sure they won't be doing it.

Also it would ruin the challenge for them which will mean that they lose even when they win(if you get what I mean).

And wouldn't work out pretty well in LFS. Anyway... +.5 because it is something that is not at all important but still realistic.

Quote from morpha :Let's just say there's a reason the default particle longevity (dust, smoke, grass spray, dirt, etc.) is only 2.4 seconds
Modded to 8 secs I occasionally fall below 60fps with enbseries when spectating 2 or 3 cars on hotties smoking it up.

I didn't take the ability to mod longevity in mind when replying to that... But I don't really know so much about LFS anyway, so I was just merging a bit of personal experience with the tiny part of what I have heard over the forums - which means that I'm prolly talking bs

So is mine, but I don't think that this will affect it that much... Still, we can't be sure unless some of the devs gives us a comment on it.

So... an intriguing picture I recently saw in lfs.net gave me this idea: Wouldn't it be cool if we had the ability to put smoke generators on the road?

The current layout size function can help us determinate how much smoke we want to generate.

There already is smoke; there already is a layout builder; there already is a resizing function for marshals. What is needed is to combine them and voila: We get a nice smoke effect that can hide obstacles in the course and make the racing more exciting. Don't you think?

Quote from morpha :Develop your InSim app(s) on a host in /usemaster=no or /usemaster=hidden mode

What if you want to show it to a friend? With /usemaster=hidden people can still see you're online, and may find it rude. With /usemaster=no others can't connect, and if you want to show it to a friend the simple logic tells me, that you would like to be in the server to see their reaction and tell them what the commands are and how to use them, etc..

@Flame CZE : As I said, include them in the number of connections but hide their usernames, wherever a username is needed to be shown, except the connection list that you see while racing/spectating in the server.

Ok, sorry if this has been suggested already, but I couldn't find anything like it.

So, I'm suggesting a mode in LFS, that allows LFS users to hide their online status, so noone can find where they are racing. Just make it so lfsworld reports you as offline(presuming lfsworld is the right place to talk about here... if not, then please correct me :shy. Also it would be great if this has a 2nd options - not to show you even in the server list when somebody is searching the hosts list(maybe just display ----- or simply "hidden").. In almost every instant messanger/website/forum or whatever more online you want there is an option to hide your online status.

It all comes from this: From time to time there is a period when we don't want to see or talk to someone, but want to be able to contact with other people, so we need to make the right people think we are offline, while the others know your real status.

And to remind you: I already apologized, because I am not sure if there is a suggestion like this(at least, I, couldn't find any), so any flaming would be inappropriate, imo.

Thanks.

Also, logically, the first post will also be updated. So just watch the thread.

Quote from jto93 :Hello!

im trying to learn some C# while making this, so dont shoot me

i have managed to copy/paste the code below:
InSim.Send_BTN_CreateButton("^7Drift Angle: " + Convert.ToInt16((MCI.Info[i].Heading * (180f / 16384f)) - (MCI.Info[i].Direction * (180f / 16384f))), Flags.ButtonStyles.ISB_DARK, 5, 30, 0, 64, 171, (Connections[GetConnIdx(Players[GetPlyIdx(MCI.Info[i].PLID)].UniqueID)].UniqueID), 2, false);

what im trying to do is to show drift angle of car. i think its working a bit, but weird numbers suddenly appear. sorry to bother you guys

EDIT: found the problem... stupid me it wasnt 180f / 16384f but 180f / 32768f

Good work there.. thinking learners are a rare situation here. Especially ones that re-check their code while waiting for replies instead of making someone else do it for them.

Actually, you're the first one that I, personally see. Good luck with your application and keep it up like this.

I'm just so impressed...

I don't care so much if he did a WR or not. You are all just jealous, because someone you don't like is getting a little fame, but guess what - you are contributing to this by posting more in this thread, even if it's with the only purpose to flame. As I said - Pathetic.

Let me tell you something more: If I didn't see so much unfair flaming I wouldn't comment here at all... buuut, since some of you think they look cool by flaming at someone, just because he is a little bit faster than them, then I don't really know where this forum will go to(actually - I know - to hell).

Quote from blackbird04217 :Mmm that is a really good point morpha.

I was thinking, what if it was a restriction that the host can run only 1 InSim app. (Or at least only 1 'main' app.) And the main app is the one that gets priority over things like this. However, this adds a limit that I don't think is good for the InSim protocol since it already supports multiple connections it could be that there are already host-side systems that require this feature.

I think the "Main App" idea would work. The first insim connection will get that slot, which allows special controls over MSO, and anything else that would have a conflict.

It's good that you guys thought about this. Maybe it could work just like messages with special symbol on front - If one app is blocking it, then block it for the host and make it visible for all apps. From here: The first application connected, could decide if it would grant permission to the others or not to send the message. Also while on this topic, there could be a limit to the amount of insim apps connected to the host(would be good if this could be set with both - host's config. file(but not as a command to the host, to avoid parasite apps) and a setting, available only for the 1st connected app.

Quote from Krammeh :
// NOTE 4) Prefix field, if set when initialising InSim on a host :

// Messages typed with this prefix will be sent to your InSim program
// on the host (in IS_MSO) and not displayed on anyone's screen.

Is there anything that I can put in this value to make ALL messages not shown on the clients screens?

I don't think there is..

I was experimenting with this once. I tried ' '(space), '^' and some other characters, but the normal messages were always displayed.

A little offtopic: If this is going to be supported, I think that it would be better if a delay can be added(specified from the insim app. when connecting - like all the other, before a message is sent and allow the insim to block it, before it's out. And maybe a possibility to have an index of all current messages on the screen and allow us to delete them at any time.
It would also be cool if we could send these messages only to users, that we specify(like you can send priv messages now, specifying the PLID/UCID).

Quote from Danke :The dedicated host has no "S" mode and no license check. You just set the car/track combo. Hosts are visible to players only if they have the required content. Sorry if I shot you.

edit: I should say, the dedicated server is the same program, whether it's demo, S1, or S2.

No, you didn't shoot me at all. You know, in the settings file there is a line for the host's license. If it's set to demo, it would not allow the host to change the track or allow some other car, different than demo ones. Then, take the situation: You have S1+S3 license, and people who have S1 or S2, can't play, but in the same time hosts with S2 license cars, will not let people with S1+S3 play on these hosts, which brings an awfully confusing situation.

PS: Sorry, but it's the 3rd time im defeating my point now and I have said everything. If you just keep on picking up separate words from what I said, please first put some logical thinking and read the whole post again, because it's kind of annoying to explain the same situation to everyone in person(while, weirdly, it says the same thing, but in a different way a few posts up). Thank you !

Quote from Danke :IMO it would be logical for the devs to allow people to get S3 without S2 content, or even without S1. A user with the "S3 only" license would have demo content + Rockingham + the new mystery car. Most would opt for everything, but there are some who would want to pick and choose.

That's not to say it will be that way, but it makes sense to me.

So, before you shoot us with something like that why don't you think? The hosts should also include S2 only mode, S3 only mode, S2+S3 only mode, etc... That's not just like to give them that content... A lot of other changes will be needed. S3 hosts will allow S1, S2 and S3 cars, so every time more cars get allowed (in case you are on demo+s3 license) you will get disconnected/kicked out, and that would also bring lots of pointless threads in the forums.... I just find no sense in putting so much effort in having licenses like that, because it would bring multi-license combinations.

To repeat again: If you want "S3 only" licenses, there will also have to be "S2 only" licenses, "S1 + S3" licenses and "S2 + S3" licenses, which will bring us on a place, where we have so many combinations in upgrading licenses, that new people will get lost in lfs.net, wouldn't know what to click, get scared and leave the site(typical&normal user reaction).

Thanks ..It's not a problem for people with fast connection, but let me tell you about this monster: It needs to (down)load 1.5mb... So it's an issue in some countries, especially where the regular speed is around 512-1024kbit/s.

Plus - vector images increase quality, and decrease size(as long as you don't forget to delete the raster ones tho )... What more better than that

Anyway: No one wants to help?

Quote from Scorpio12344 :i think there should be an upgrade discount to whoever has S2 as of - now. (any later, no discount) and the new TRACK is Rockingham - the 5 LAYOUTS are what you are talking about

There will be... You won't pay full S3 price, but only the upgrade one, so what's the problem?

If there is a discount for S2 players, then what if people buy S2 first and upgrade to S3 right after?

And on the other side - if you mean people who have S2 and have played for longer period, then it wouldn't be fair for demo users, who have been playing so long either. But if we have a discount for demo users, playing from a long time, licensed people will start to make new threads in every possible section of the forum, just to start a fight about that. So, imo, keep it as it is.

From what I have seen, 99% of the people are happy with the current situation, so why change it.
