I haven't seen it before, but i saw the Other one with a Impreza.
GRID is the title of the movie, not one i choose, i was just speculating the reason
Even so, it still rocks.
Got my vote, good luck!
Funny thing i saw a video about catching a drift in brands hatch by 2 different ways...Before entering this thread... it was you driving one of the cars right?=D
Mercado Livre sells it for 1000~, Six months ago i was about to buy one =/
But i think ill start low, maybe with the DFP. Or i can wait for the G25 prices to go down, since they released the G27, and it is only 10% better (six buttons but no more sequentian shifter... What they had in mind??)
@Velociround: Great post. LFS is made simple and versatile, hence all the languages it can be translated, all the device it can comunicate, and Scawen's pursuit of a stable sim on ANY OS.
@PjFerreira: Well, i can't really say much about it, i've never run a trackday, the nearest i got to real racing was some kart (RD 135) racing i did with some friends. I think i meant racing that,You're pushing whatever 4 wheeled vehicle to it's limits, despise it's specs.
But damn, more than R$1000 for a day... may be worth, but not at the moment for me
So in a motorcycle sim (like GP Bikes) who can afford, drive with a 360 controller. That means it's not a sim? or realistic? BAN THE CONTROLLER USERS! i would like to see a small and realistic bike controller.
LFS is not perfect. Crash physics, the tire physics. and some other things.
Well i guess if you're looking for the perfect simulator, well why don't just buy a car and go drive somewhere? there aren't mouse drivers there. Some people drive with mouse not because they like, but because the can't afford/use a wheel at that time. You can bet that soon enough ill buy my DFP, and yes i'd rather drive LFS with a wheel than with a mouse...
Whell, why don't you create your own sim racing game and do better? Ban the mouse users!
Hell why do i even bother, you're just another annoying person.
Just because LFS is very versatile you think it feels like NFS?
That's bs. My wheel is broken and at the moment i dont have money to buy another, so im mousing. It's not bad. And by seeing that there is cruising and drifting show this is a very open game, due to the physics. So thats actually a good thing.
Unless there is also written what they do, i think he meant, how much the beta-testers know to be able to judge the new physics. I bet Scawen didn't picked up any person who volunteered (is it right?) to be. I think he picked people with a background (physics related, racing related).
I never (and maybe wont ever) drove in iRacing, but i just drove a few laps in GPL and i noticed the tires loose traction in a more smooth way. So from what i read, people say that GPL was one of the most realistic sims out there (some say it still is), and i can't say anything about Iracing, but what i'm understanding is that this tire physics rework will make the load/traction curve of the tire more smooth?
I hope i made any sense, its 4a.m. here and i'm with a small headache... gotta go to bed.
PS: when i think about all the equations and variables involved in it... I don't know how Scawen's head hasn't already exploded by the amount of stuff he has to research/write/look at. =D
I don't know if you guys want a physics oriented book, or a driving technique oriented book, so heres one i found some months ago, its kind of old, but its very good...
I hope im not breaking any rule attaching it:
Amazing news, this actually puts the sirocco in second place on the priority for us (since new tyre physics means almost different cars)
But as someone posted before, can't wait for some kind of side by side comparisson between the old and new tyre physics... damn us physics freaks.
I second that. Same thing with me here, and i found LFS in a lan house while waiting for some friends... (Result: i spend half the time playing lfs and listening "Comeon dude, lets play DotA")
Back on topic, i don't know why they still keep with this 1/4 turning shit. Grid makes me think that the steering wheel actually represents the gamepad angle while turning, other that the real wheel direction... But still i like grid, its fun and you can blow stuff up.
As someone pointed out, yes it was a Brazilian driver Rafael Sperafico that tragically died in Interlagos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F22ZuPzogxU
After going out of the track on the last turn, he hit the wall and was launched back spinning at the track, thats when Renato Russo's car hit him at about 200km/h at the driver's side.
That is the strongest crash ever in that category...
What i see when i watch both videos (Carlos Pardo and Rafael Sperafico) is that both cars disintegrate almost the same way.
PS: Rafael Sperafico died instantly, while i belive Carlos Pardo died minutes after.
And about the FIA, i know that they can't ban the circuits, but they can NOT allow the circuit to host a specific racing category. Every year (or every 6 months i think) they send engineers to the tracks to check for security and other things, after the review, they will determine if the track is able to host any kind of race. (correct me if im wrong)
