Wouldn't it be more reasonable to suggest lowering the Gti's hp rather than raising the GT's? Especially since raising the Gti power was the cause of the new imbalance. Otherwise you get into inflation back and forth until they have as much power as the GTRs.
If you look at the population history http://www.lfsworld.net/?win=h ... icensed_history&t=182 you can see that since the first month or two after the release of S2 alpha, the max/min number of online racers has been slowly but fairly steadily decreasing(it's more apparent with the minimum numbers). Meanwhile the number of available servers has increased at about the same rate! So theoretically you have a smaller and smaller population getting more and more spread out.
From what I've seen on the server list though, people tend to congregate in a few "popular" servers. However, I do see a lot of all-car servers with groups of 2-5 tooling around. So maybe Scawen is right about that kind of server. I've never run a server myself, are all cars turned on by default? One thing I know about most people is that they're lazy, so maybe the default setting should be a class like TBO or GTR.
I was browsing the server list tonight and what did I spy? A Gti/GT only server, on Westhill! This kind of thing is what I've been desiring as of late, so I jumped in without hesitation. It was called fair play ...something, and run by this really nice guy, I think french. I arrived on the latter half of a 15-lapper, and tried to join in with a GT, but alas I could barely keep it on the road. I resigned myself to spectator and was treated to a great scrap for the lead between two GTs. The guy in second made a daring move into the last corner and had the door closed on him, but they managed to make it through without incident.
After that, we moved on to AS Historic for 7 laps, where I took a Gti and had a spirited round of position swapping with a fellow in a GT during qualifying. In the race, I was able to keep up in the middle of a pack of GTs. After a couple of laps I got more comfortable and was able to move ahead even streching the lead a bit, getting one quick lap 3-4 seconds faster than everyone else's. Some might think these cars are too slow, but on the long fast sweepers of the new tracks they're a ton of fun to slide around at the very limit. Too bad for me I miscalculated fuel and had to pit, dropping down to 3rd(with a 30 sec penalty for speeding too). After that the server started getting unstable and eventually everyone lost connections. Still, great racing all around!:auto::auto::auto::auto::auto:
I strongly agree with this. As it is, the "lag" built into the camera makes the cars look floaty on the video and makes it difficult to judge direction while driving. It should be locked to the car's longitudinal axis. Perhaps with options for look-steer like with the cockpit views.
As of the writing of this post, there are exactly four S1 specific servers online, all using the BL GP track, all private, and all empty. Meanwhile there are:
28 S2 Blackwood public servers with at least one S1 car enabled.
9 S2 South City public servers with at least one S1 car enabled.
15 S2 Fern Bay public servers with at least one S1 car enabled. Four of which have no S2 cars enabled.
2 S2 Autocross public servers with at least one S1 car enabled.
As far as online multiplayer goes, S1 users are getting shafted. Those who buy S1 as a way of testing the full product before committing to S2 will only see a paltry amount of empty servers. How is that supposed to encourage them to buy a multiplayer game? If they could race on the above servers with their S1 cars they would actually have a chance to race the cars they paid for against other people and they would help a lot in filling out the S2 servers, the majority of which are empty most of the time.
I have also observed a growing attitude of elitism and divisions into first-class and second-class citizens. Frankly, it disgusts me. To judge someone as being not worth racing against by how many tracks and cars they bought, regardless of how fast and clean they can drive is the most pathetic kind of discrimination I have seen.
