No one is forcing you to do it
You can earn credits and buy the car from the UCD

BTW I test drove a Cizeta 16T, looks bad ass, and is beast to drive
Completely different to GT4! The engine has so much torque, you'll spin out in 3rd gear even with partial throttle of Hard sports tyres!
Try Shuffle races, some of them had comfort softs and sports hards. You can't pick the car or the tyres, but the cars are fairly close to each other.
The game pics cars for you and they tend to be low to moderate powered.
And if you win 1 race, the next one, you get a weaker car etc. If people stay on for mulitple races, it gets pretty cool
From some guys testing at GTplanet, fuel weight is to blame and tyres are a lot colder online. It seems fuel weight isn't accounted for when in offline practise, plus your tyres are at optimum temperature and don't wear out
Another race against Japanese folks. Yes I do like racing against them even despite the lag.
I love low horse power races, just more fun to me. And a pretty interesting collection of cars in this race. Both premium and standards mingling in harmony
I didn't have any cars that fit the race specs of 800kg minimum weight and 200HP max, that also had soft racing tyres, so I decided to use one of the GT5 stock recommended cars, since they come with all tyres.
I've never driven a Lotus Elise 111R on Tsukuba, but it seems race tyres smooth out the inherent twitchiness of the mid engined short wheel base configuration, although once in a while it'll snap sideways when you least expect it to, like at 4:30
A bit like real life then.
Within a few laps I qualified 2nd, stock against tuned cars! It just felt like understeer doesn't exist in this car. Seemed like this car is just made for this track, and I had a big advantage over the front wheel drive cars in this race
Me think I'll buy me one of these....
You can barely hear my car though, against the exhausts of tuned cars. And my car looked so high off the ground
Race was a lot of fun, and felt good to beat the host (the 2nd placed MX-5) which probably spec'ed the race to fit perfectly with his tuned car
For some reason I couldn't connect to PSN with my bros account?? ( it said Unable to connect, but when I made a new account it let me sign in )
Had to start over again.. was level 25 and just unlocked endurance events..
Add - Adampett
The save game is locked to each account. Maybe he was already online with the same account?
Wow, Mclaren F1 on Tsukuba is so much fun.. like i downloaded some new physics patch or something.. how the steering wheel gets heavy under braking etc.. After like half an hour managed a 59.685 with abs off, sports hard tires, stock including setup (brake bias 4:2 though).
I got about the same time with medium sports and wing, but my 458 on same setup did high 57 seconds with ABS
And about 1 second slower without ABS. Less power too....
has anyone managed to do any type of brakestand in gt5, it just doesnt work at all for me.
if you try with any brake at all it stalls, and if you manage to get it to not stall, then you just plow the front tires no matter what.
in lfs you can jam the brakes in the xrt (which doesnt have too much power as it is) and it will still be alive.
You'll have problems doing those types of things in GT5, but try without ABS on, and minimise the rear brake bias
Ahh the RUF, cannot wait untill I get one myself, guys, have any of you used the race car modifications in the maintenance section? every car I tried to use it with just says not available for this vehicle, I mean wtf, in GT2 you could mod all sorts of cars but in GT5 have not been able to race mod any new car at the moment. What cars can you actually use it for?
You can only RM about 20 cars. There is a list somewhere. It's pretty expensive though, and best done before buying other parts as you get some with it
Ok i'll send as soon as i can, it's used but i've never actually driven it
EDIT: I have a tuned speed 12 too, crazy fast in a straight line.
I won't be able to send it till this time tommorrow, the Toyota 7.
Do you want your Subie back, or are you duping it with the save backup, send, restore trick?
I don't have an enzo i've got a 458, murci sv, vette, tuned evo x that did 6:50 round the ring with 500bhp, evora, fully tuned fireblade 7, RM'd S1 elise and S2, rm'd camaro, 22b, nomad diablo, fgt, calsonic gtr r32, 99 subaru rally car, subaru sti (new), nsx-r (awesome car) thats all i can think of right now.
edit - I think I prefer Subaru IMPREZA Rally Car ‘99
Can I borrow some ones F1 car for a day? I need to finish one more expert series challenge. I'll give it back ASAP
psn : TEaaron
Thanks
I can maybe lend you mine, not using it for a while, but you'll have to wait a day or 2 until my gifting recharges
also about that Thrustmaster wheel
From Darin Gangi at iRacing forums
I have a T500RS here and it's incredible ! Pedals are decent but not as good as Clubsports.. The wheel on the other hand which will work on the PC once they have their drivers worked out, is a step above anything on the market from Logitech or Fanatec. Actually makes the G25/27 feel and look like a toy. It's more like an ECCI or Frez wheel and feels like it too.
I'll be posting an unboxing and first look vid tomorrow about it..
should i buy the ruf rgt or is it not good?
It's pretty good - loads of grip if you feed the throttle, rockets out of turns
Sudden snap of oversteer isn't exactly making the cars not understeer.
Most of the time I am actually driving with abs set to 0. I really like how you can trail brake into a corner with the car sliding just a bit. On tsukuba in first turn it is really nice in the miatas. But the way it randomly just snaps sideways spoils all the fun of it. And putting abs to 1 doesn't even make the snap oversteer to go away.
My money is on the force combining if it is a simple problem. Although in that case it should happen on corner exits too...
Is this with a properly setup brake Bias? I've never had snap oversteer with ABS on
Hyperactive - Turn off ABS and then tell me the car understeers on corner entry.
Having ABS on 1 or greater removes the weight transfer effect. Not sure why they did this, as Active Stability Management is already a separate aid. With ABS off, if you don't brake in a straight line the car will rotate
Also all cars have a default suspension setup that tunes in understeer. A +0.20 rear toe, zero camber, and stiffer front end would do that.
As noted before, offline play doesn't account for the fuel weight. Which why I suspect online feels so different.
Somebody did a test with the 2CV, and the acceleration for online free run was 4 secs slower than in offline practise mode.
So it's carrying extra weight, fuel weight most probably.
A couple of online race videos against Japanese guys.
I like racing em, despite the slight lag, I always have good races against these guys.
I hate using Racing Softs, but everyone seems to use em online
RX-7 FD at Suzuka
Using a RX-7 FD I built for the recent seasonal event. Nice battle with the Evo 4.
Limits for the race were 1000kg minimum weight and 485hp.
Car felt a bit understeery, need to retune the suspension. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x55_uzVKd84
SuperGT race at Fuji - Stealth NSX GT500
Beaten to third at the line. I got shunted off the track at the start, I didn't see the guy there on my left, I should have looked, but I didn't have anywhere else to go.
Didn't realise I had my wipers on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSfURgejQgg
So, in summary:
- The cars I have tested in GT5 have a 100 liters fuel tank.
- In the practice mode, whether fuel consumption is enabled or not, fuel weight is not taken into account for the car handling. So it's not possible to tune the suspension set-up for the added payload while practicing off-line.
- In the online mode with the fuel/tire depletion activated, fuel weight has a substantial effect on handling and acceleration (depending on the car; lighter and less powerful cars are in disadvantage here).
