-Jimmie Johnson (After winning the All-Star race Saturday night)
I actually think that V6 is the way to go in the lower series' . (Reads the article).
Actually, V6 would be just fine by me as long as the power was nearly the same. NASCAR needs to do what it takes to get closer to stock as far as look, feel, and size. Speed is really the only thing that needs to be different as well as saftey. I love that changes that the Gen-6 car has to get there (shorter rear deck lid, lighter weight, ect). I hope that a Gen-7 car would get even further and not reduce car counts like it has with the Gen-6 so far. When did your stock car have a V8 in it last?
Yawn. It seems like they keep taking races away from mile and a halfs and they keep giving them back to mile and a halfs (Nothing against the type, but there's too many of them as it is!)
Atlanta gave Kentucky a race. (California) gave a date to Kansas.
Iowa, Road America, Mid-Ohio, a Canadian Track, CotA, Rockingham to stay in the same general area (Yeah right), any new race track that's not a mile and a half . I'm with you PMD.
Talladega (2.66 miles) went from hail storm to race track in 100 min (1:40) a few weeks ago. The banking there helps a little, but with the same systems Indy (2.5 miles) could be ready to go in a little under 2 hours. Like I said, the way it looks right now, it'll probably be more than 3 hours. . The rain stopped just around 10:45 EST and it is now 12:05 and it's still really wet..
Edit: I guess I'm just really disappointed that qualifying isn't able to go off as scheduled
Yeah.. they have 8 trucks running over the track.. no jet dryers. No air titans (wouldn't expect that, but still). Like this it would take around 3 hours or more to dry the track since it has standing water in places it appears
Edit: Holy cow, those trucks are moving They are probably going around 90mph
After watching the truck series race I feel pretty bad for Bubba Wallace. He had a pretty good run going and he threw it way with only a few laps to go. You could see how bad he felt about it.
Due to the finishing results no actions will be taken as a result of this incident. Had the 23 gained an advantage in points as a result of this incident actions would have likely been taken. These would have been in the form of points penalties.
I will be on the server for at least a short amount of time starting now if anybody would like to come and practice. I'm not sure how many drivers there will be if any, but I will be here .
All Realistic NASCAR Events have a required minimum speed of 106% of the leaders lap times. Directly from the Rulebook:
This can be found at bottom of Page 6 in the Realistic NASCAR Rulebook. 7.3 is near the bottom of page 7
This will be in effect unless a number of drivers fail to meet the 106%, in which case we will alter that percentage accordingly. If a driver would like to assume a restriction of some kind and is still able to to maintain proper race speed there is nothing in the rulebook which penalizes or forbids such an action.
This rule has only come into effect a couple of times in Realistic NASCAR Histroy. Twice in the WTBOCS, once in a practice session this year, and once when a competitor had too much damage in an oval event.
47.43 second laps would be 106% of world record time of 44.74 seconds. Jettascubba posted above that an event had average lap times of 45.69. This would make minimum speed 48.43 seconds. It all depends upon the fastest competitor in the race however.
Okay, the poll will remain open until May 25th, but in the mean time I'll figure out a time to have a practice session. As I said it likely will not be this week sadly.
I'll put the server onto FZ5 at KY1 for public practice at this time if it's not set-up already. I'll put the race distance at 110 laps . Also, I'll put qualifying on 4 hours .
Thanks for the feed back. If somebody has a stable set-up which does not wear down the tyres and you wouldn't mind sharing please send it my way or post it here . You don't need to post your best set-up. Just post one that doesn't over heat the tyre
A few drivers have brought the final round to my attention and have expressed concern for the drivability and reliability of the FZ5 at KY1. I'm currently unable to drive myself, so I'll leave this one to a vote of the competitors. Discussion is accepted here. I may have a test event some time if desired, but this weekend probably won't work. It would need to be the next one unless something happens in my schedule.
All rounds would allow for up to 30 competitors
Option #1 - FZ5 - Kyoto Ring Oval - 108 laps / 200.016 miles (321.840 km)
No special rules at this race track.
Track Length: 1.852 miles / 2.980 km
Option #2 - FZ5 - Fern Bay Oval - 200 laps / 52.400 miles (83.800 km)
Competition caution for pit stops at lap 100. Restart order will be the same as the order which vehicles enter pit lane.
Track Length: .262 miles / .419 km
Option #3 - FZ5 - Aston Raceway - 200 laps / 40.600 miles (65.400 km)
Competition caution for pit stops at lap 100. Restart order will be the same as the order which vehicles enter pit lane.
Points will be awarded as follows in each round of the World TBO Championship Series unless penalties are assessed. Finishing position is on the left and the points awarded are on the left. This year there will not be bonus points for the pole sitter or for the fastest race lap.
Points will be awarded regardless of the number of laps completed so long as a driver takes the green flag.
I voted maybe. It would depend on the dates, times, and format of such a series for me . KY1 would work maybe for one race, but any more than that would not be very exciting.
I actually did watch the final half of this race after I woke up on Sunday morning. As I've said before, F1 does not interest me like other forms of auto racing for one reason or another. . I think it comes with an abundance of driving rules, but I cannot pin point that for sure.
I love motor sport period though. (Demo-Derby, Figure 8, Motor Boat, Motorcycle, Endurance, Sprint, Dirt, Pavement, anything) I'll watch anything and give it a try. I can't explain why I don't exactly find F1 interesting, but I am able to see what you guys enjoy in it. I'll sit down and watch the Monaco GP, then watch the Indy 500, then watch the Coke 600 two Sundays from now right in a row . If there is a rally race on TV between the GP and the 500 I'd watch it too.
Anyways, the point of the matter is that some people can't stand oval racing. I think they are crazy, but it really doesn't matter . Some people have posted saying that F1's tyres and DRS aren't entertaining. That's just as much of an opinion. When I first heard of it I hated the ideas, but as I've watched a little bit it's just become another aspect of that specific kind of racing. The only problem is that people who watch Formula 1 racing and have formulated an opinion of what that specific type of racing should look like, and others just don't like ideas period.
I've never seen F1 without it, and I've grown to be okay with it. It still doesn't appeal to me more than other forms of racing, and I'm not sure that it would in any event.
I was once dumb enough to argue my opinions on the matter, but I'm smarter than that now. . Fact is that you can't argue opinions and get anywhere.
Just out of curiosity by the way, what kind of draft advantage would a following F1 car have on a long straight-away without DRS? How bad would the Areo-Understeer be? Any ideas? I was thinking that on some of the long straights the draft could more than erase the loss in the corners.
We've worked with an area and that strategy has worked like a charm for the last year and a half . A simple marker is asking for people to try to jump it . I found that out the hard way in my first couple events .
