I will say that a practice session will happen at the earliest on Sunday, but I cannot announce this for certain. I will be free around 18:00 GMT on Sunday, but quality of internet connection is likely to be an issue at that time for me because of where I will be.
I'll see what I can do. I try to have sessions at the best possible times in which I'm free. Recently those times have not been very good
People have different expectations for the same thing. This is where arguments almost always come about. Drivers need to understand the way things are going to be and accept this prior to competition. Perhaps even lower your expectations for an event. You'll be surprized how good an event is if you don't expect it to be the race to end all races going into it. We are not professionals putting on these events, and we are not paid to put them on (in fact, the opposite is usually true).
Hum, it is weird to me that lights to SA are easy to get, but flights to a place like Vegas or San Diego or Phoenix isn't being that they are not much further.
I feel as though the US may as well be divided between multipule different nations. For example, the South East, the Mid-West, and North East are all so different as far as people it's hard to call them the same in my experiance. I've never been to the South West, but I'm sure it's different as well
I've never had this problem with travel sites. I write down prices and dates and have returned back to the same site multiple times with the same price, but you can never be too careful
5 days from now they will release 300 new tracks, 100 new cars, new tyre models, improved physics, improved damage, and they will introduce an official Live for Speed series with a 1,000 Euro prize purse.
Free practice number one will run as though it was an open track qualifying session on Sunday, January 5th at 22:00 GMT. This session will last 60 minutes. TeamSpeak will be required, and jump to pit and spectating will be prohibited UNLESS you are out of control in the racing line or you have been instructed to spectate from Race Control. If you jump to pit or spectate your lap count will reset to 0, but your best lap time will remain on the board.
Kyoto 400 practice session credit will be awarded only to those drivers who are able to run a lap time under 37.85 seconds & complete at least 15 laps.

This session is designed to allow drivers who are less experianced with oval racing and drafting to learn what to do with runs that they get while running in a group of cars. Our primary goal will not be to get credit for a session, but rather to educate competitors. I will be in the pit wall and avalible for chat and advice at all times during the session, and I encourage competitors to seek advice from those drivers who are quicker in the draft. Those quicker drivers I encourage you to help your fellow competitors as well, though I cannot require you to do so.
I've noticed in years past that most incidents and fusterations have been caused when drivers in a pack don't know how to utilize the draft to advantage all drivers in that group. This leads to two car break-aways more often than not.
Here's a basic guide on how to use the draft to go fast on the KY1 oval. We will try to follow it in this session in order to educate drivers and to get everybody fast enough to obtain credit.
1. Draft in the straights, pass in the corners. Enter each corner with as much speed as possible, regardless of the speed of the rest of the straight.
2. If you cannot draft into a position which will allow you to exit as close to the wall as possible don't pass. Lift and remain inline instead. This will allow your group to go faster and it will make accidents much less likely.
3. Allow passing drvers plenty of room. As long as you have their draft on corner exit you are just fine. In-fact, being too close exiting a corner to the driver in front of you is not as fast as being further away.
These are not rules, but they are a basic guide to how to draft quickly on the Kyoto Ring oval. Master this technique, and the Kyoto 400 will be a much more enjoyable event, and you will perform much better in it as well.
Before I start let me admit that I've never been further west than Alabama, but I am accusomed to traveling insde of the United States on the East Coast. I'll assume that the west is not much different.
1. Use Trivago.com to find a hotel. It's new (to me), and it has been very helpful in planning my trip this March to Martinsville for the Cup race. For example here's a 3 star hotel I found using Trivago.com (I don't need luxury, but 1 or 2 stars usually isn't good for a week or more stay) in San Fran. for $110 (80.89 Euros) a night (plus tax I'm sure). Phoenix (closer to LA and the Grand Canyon and less popular) you'd be looking at about the same price for a decent hotel room . Like this one
2. Why did you chose San Fransico out of curiosity? Along with that question, why do you want to go on this trip exactly? Adventure? Cultural Experiance? The Beach?
3. If you're coming for a cultural experiance there's a VERY cultural experiance in Phoenix on the weekend of Sunday, March 2nd. OR, there's also a race in Las Vegas on the following weekend (March 9th), but Phoenix would be a better fan experiance probably. I'm a little bias on the NASCAR idea though, so I'll receed to other things if you're doing it for reasons other than culture.
4. I cannot really contribute much more unless I know why you want to go on this vacation . As somebody said earlier I do suggest going to see the Grand Canyon since you are semi-close to it. I obviously haven't seen it before, but I do beleive that it would be something to remember. Grand Canyon from San Fran. looks to be about 11 hours. From Phoenix is looks like 3 and a half. From LA it looks like 7 and a half. Las Vegas is a little over 4 hours drive from the Grand Canyon.
Event will be 45 laps plus 2 pace laps. Only R2 & R3 tires will be permitted in this session as in all Kyoto 400 sessions. Qualifying will be single car runs starting at 22:15 GMT. This session will be followed by a five to ten minute break and then the race session will begin.

Practice Session credit will be given to those who follow the rules, complete the session, and exhibit an understanding of the Rules and an adequate ability to race the FZR on the Kyoto Ring oval (KY1).
Special Notice: All competitors who are deemed by administration to have caused an incident (if a "racing incident" this means both drivers) will not receive credit for this session. This is ment to raise expectations for our practice sessions and the Kyoto 400 its self.
Special thanks to Dekojester and NDR for the use of their TeamSpeak server for this session
Entry list has also been updated with credits. As I said previously, credits will be harder to come by. It's not personal.
I know the time was bad for many, but I want to try and get the events at dfferent times of the day to give more people the chance to make it to sessions. Next one will be at a better time hopefully on Monday.
Event will be 54 laps (100 miles) plus 2 pace laps. Only R2 & R3 tires will be permitted in this session as in all Kyoto 400 sessions from now on (lesson learned). A green flag pit stop will be required in this session. Qualifying will be single car runs starting at 16:00 GMT. This session will be followed by a five to ten minute break and then the race session will begin.

This cooling is why I will allow R2's to be used still. If a race becomes a crash event, or if a short dash to the finish occurs the drivers at the end of a lap may change to the softer compound as to have an advantage. If you are on the end of a lap under Safety Car you have nothing to lose. You'll restarti n the same place rather you pit or not.
I may look into posting more on the chat if this makes things easier. Just for critical messages under the SC of course, but it could as you said be helpful
Sorry for the long string at the end of the race replay. I saved it locally, but it failed for some reason, so I had to come back and get it from the server side much later.
Credits have been awarded as well on the entry list. If you beleive I've missed you for credit please PM me. If I did not do so on accident I will explain why you were not given credit so that you may improve for the next time. It's nothing personal.
Thanks for another decent session. Next session will be announced once I decide when it will be. Likely, we will have either a mandatory pit stop or a competition caution so that we can practice getting in restart order since there were problems with each pitting under green and restarting order today.
Yes, you may participate in this practice session. Licenses are not required this year.
2 practice session credits are all that will be needed this year. All of those who are registered for the Kyoto 400 are permitted to participate in practice sessions.
Just make sure that you have a good understanding of the rules
Qualifying will be one out lap, two hot laps, and one in lap. Spectate once you reach pit lane on the in lap, but not before. The second hot lap is not mandatory. If you only wish to take one hot lap just return to pit lane on the second hot lap (third lap)
This will be fixed shortly . I have not been online since the end of the last session.
The Entry List has been updated with those who received session credit. If you'd like to know why you did not receive credit feel free to PM me. I may have done so in mistake, and if not I will be able to give you something to try to improve on so that you can be a better driver and competitor. I'd like to see everybody who is interested participate, but the better the drivers are the more enjoyable the event is. We can all improve. It's nothing personal.
Event will be 54 laps (100 miles) plus 2 pace laps just like the duel qualifying races. Only R2 & R3 tires will be permitted in this session as in all Kyoto 400 sessions from now on (lesson learned). Qualifying will be single car runs starting at 20:00 GMT. This session will be followed by a five minute break and then the race session will begin.

I would like to congratulate and thank every one of the drivers in today's practice session. The only real yellow was on the final lap, and the other was a competition caution to get you guys out of the trouble with tyres (tires) that I put you in.
Thanks for the patience, understanding, and good manners on the track today . Hopefully this will be a good sign of things to come
