13 drivers broke the 200 MPH barrier, and Carl Edwards got the pole with a speed of 202.452 MPH / 325.815 km/h (35.564 seconds). Marcos Ambrose stoll holds the track record from last year at 203MPH, but the tires were changed before the race actually started because of reliability issues and the new tires were a good bit (5 MPH or so) slower.

Also, Jason Leffler's COD was a blow to the neck (Layman's terms), so (I can only assume) that he was struck by a piece of debris in the neck after contacting the wall.

AND:
Quote :There are five race tracks the Sprint Cup Series currently races at that #48-Jimmie Johnson has not won a Sprint Cup race at:
Michigan: 0 for 21 with a best finish of 3rd in 8/2007
Kentucky: 0 for 2 with a best finish of 3rd in 7/2011
Watkins Glen: 0 for 11 with a best finish of 3rd in 8/2007 and 8/2012
Chicago: 0 for 11 with a best finish of 2nd in 7/2004 & 7/2008
Homestead: 0 for 11 with a best finish of 2nd in 11/2004 & 11/2010
plus Johnson ran five races at Rockingham Speedway and didn't win there

Yet his vegas odds are 4:1... AND here's JJ's record at Rockingham since these stats weren't listed ( http://racing-reference.info/r ... &trk=101&series=W ) best finish of 2nd in 11/2003

JJ has had a podium finish at EVERY Sprint Cup track in which he's started

Very sad news. Too young, and too much ahead of him. Thoughts especially towards his son Charlie :'(

Now, with the 2013 season in the books it's time to start looking towards 2014's season

I'm looking at a schedule something like this:

The 4th Annual Indy Car 250, but changes may be made for this race such as single file restarts.
The 3rd Annual Kyoto 400, but in the FZR and NOT the XRR
The 2nd Annual Roadster 175 (this was a competitor favorite)
Fern Bay 300 (comp. caution/red flag at lap 150. No positions gained or lost under this caution)
1 race at Aston Raceway (probably in the XRG for 150 laps)
1 other race, but I will make the rule that it will not be in a track/car combination that's wide open. I'll suggest the 2nd annual Horsepower 200, but I want you guys to give me some other ideas.

I'd love to read over any ideas

"Juan Pablo Montoya talking about teams struggles about earlier in the year, 'we were behind Danica in points.' said a matter of factly."

Bob Pockrass via Twitter

Today's race was dominated by Jimmie... HMS is going to like the TRD engine problems I'm afraid . Jr ran nicely the entire day and brought it home 3rd . It's nice to see the most popular driver actually be competitve (for the win) for once

Watched flag to flag for the first time this year (Missed bits of the 500). Not all that bad, but the 2nd caution screwed nearly half of the field over

Jimmie is stuck up, but I don't really think it's Jimmie; I think it's Chad who's "rubbed off" onto him. Chad always is telling him what he's done and he's always seemed to think that he's better than the competition. Slowly, I think Jimmie has picked it up from him with all of the time that they spend together.

There was no doubt in my mind that the restart was jumped. Like you guys said earlier, it was Jimmie, then it was the field a whole car length behind. It would have been okay if he was the leader, but he just wasn't. It's Juan's restart to make

Look for Juan to win a race this season . I think Pocono would be a good track for him, but of course the road courses

Driver Championship Scenarios for the Horsepower 200
Cornys
S3 licensed
Going into the final round of the 2013 Realistic NASCAR Cup Series there are three drivers still able to win the overall driver's championship. Martin Kapal leads Patrick Hall by 84 points and Rony Kronpušs by 110 points. All else are unable to obtain the drivers championship without points penalties being enacted in this final round.
  • IF Martin Kapal finishes 6th or better he wins the championship regardless of other competitors.
  • IF Martin Kapal finishes 7th or better and wins the pole he wins the championship regardless of other competitors.
  • Patrick Hall must finish at least 7th to have a chance at winning the championship (6th if he doesn't win the pole).
  • Rony Kronpuss must win the race in order to have a chance at the championship. Martin Kapal would need to finish at least 13th or worse and Patrick Hall could finish as high as 2nd as long as Kronpuss either had the fastest lap (tie-breaker) or the pole.

SPOILERS!!! Don't read if you don't want to know yet! (not sure how many watch downloads around here still) So, Jimmie Johnson gets black flagged and JPM almost wins another oval race only to have it taken from him. Pretty interesting race in the final 100 laps

Also, TRD engines were more like TuRD engines at Dover

Quote from S3ANPukekoh3 :video?

There really isn't a good video of it because the cable was so thin you can hardly see it on camera. Here's what NASCAR published on YouTube about the incident straight from the FOX broadcast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD8VozXLi60

There's probably a better video, because I saw at least one good replay during the broadcast. Sadly I can't find that one

3 fans were taken to a locl hospital and releaced

I knew FOX sucked, but I didn't realize it was this bad

Quote :• Negotiations for a new television contract that would go into effect in 2015 are "getting down to the last bit of it.''

France said his hope is to renew with the incumbents. Fox already has renewed from 2015-2022 for a reported $300 million a year. ESPN and TNT are the other current partners. NBC also is a player for a major portion of the 36-race schedule.

"My hope is to remain where we are,'' France said. "But that's why you have negotiations and discussions. We'll have to see how that plays out.''

What on Earth is wrong with Brian France? Does he even watch the coverage of the races on TV!? . Evidently not.

You mean drunk day?

Anyways, 30% chance of rain starting at 1PM and lasting the rest of the day. It shouldn't be an issue. We a few hundred miles west of Indy have had that all week and we've got nothing more than a sprinkle on one of the days. Nothing all other days

It should be exciting . Green flag in just over an hours

I started work this week and I have had a lot of time to think it over. I've been thinking about taking the trip Sunday morning from 4AM to 8AM to watch the race then drive home that evening. The only thing holding me back is the fact that I don't know if I'd be able ot stay awake

Sadly, I decided not to go. 5AM to 3:30 PM shift Wed - Saturday has left me more tired than I'd like (And it's only Friday night ). I'd be able to drive, but not likely enjoy it like I want to. Next year though, I'm almost certain I'll be there to cross it off my bucket list

I'm looking up the lights series finish
