I thought I was doing wrong , glad to see it is a kind of enormous bug
I noticed some framerate drop quite disturbing in the stage ... according to
it looks like this is not linked to demo only ^^
The article is most probably right BTW.
too bad it is not the awaited "RBR 2016" ... with all the models included (I suppose the budget is quite huge ...), it could have been top level by very far !
Still hope Scawen and Eric will include or allow some rallye stages with properly modelised rallycars of the 70s - 80s in the future !!!
I know, but being a fan of LFS and in a slightly less tiny margin of RBR and AC (I love them anyway), I am certainly not objective when talking about physics ... but clearly, I fear I will not be a fan of SLR !
I forget to mention the price and the DLC associated ... I am not gonna buy
After few testing :
- menu where only arrows are there to navigate : wtf ??? Did Emmett Brown take them for a ride with a DeLeroan ? RBR was clearly driving me crazy with this ... here, I have no words !
- graphics are quite nice, there is maybe better, but at least it is enough beautiful to have some good moment looking at the scenery
- configuring the wheel was really pain in the a$$
- the general idea for the cars and mode : brilliant. There are Rallye stages, rallycross courses, Pikes Peak (I would have prefer Hill Climb, and then include Pikes Peak). My dream combo based on Group B and older cars to create a simulation around them. And if I understand correctly there are present, aswell as some more recent rallye cars (wich is clearly nice).
- The demo is composed of a modern VW WRC car, a Peugeot 208 S2000 (I guess, not tested) (edit : in fact it is a R5 : 1.6L turbo limited to 280hp) and an old Mini with 95hp. the stage is 5.9km on MonteCarlo with iced asphalt, having lots of changes in textures for the road and scenery : quite nice.
- physics / handling : almost awful ...
it is not the case (I have a wife and two daughters, I do not request "attention" from mum ). It was simply a small joke on the engineering process done by Scawen when he sees something : he never stops. And this is in my opinion a quality, and this can be seen in LFS ; developpers are willing to do the job correctly, not releasing quickly something to proove they can do it on time as requested by the marketing !
Not at all a request to have you doing tyre physics "right now", Scawen
To not continue off topic comments, in HL mode there is now the "out of bounds" for hlvc. I tested briefly in Single player mode (supposing the same will happen in multiplayer), and of course hlvc is not to be checked there, but can't a time penalty like entering too fast in the pits be applied ? or a pit stop required ... I do not know if it is complex to implement, a too high constraint for players in multi, etc ... but taking properly a chicane and having the guy 3s behind earning 1s by cutting frenzy without warning is something frustating I guess.
He is unstoppable ... Do not fear the dark side of the tire physics coding, embrace it, it is calling you
Rockingham/AI related remark (very minor), I have made some AIs to race, and saw that the parking in the pits when the race is ended is a bit difficult for them. FZR ones are keen to destroy the rear tires by engaging frankly the reverse gear (and it does not make them parking better after )
same here. There is not the "challenge" you may expect from a rocket car like this (even if 'just' driving a F1 is not necessarily "complex" ... being fast is another story )
GPBikes is a must ! It has some flaws, of course, but clearly a simulation really enjoyable. But if Scawen is willing to compete with, no issue ! I am pretty sure LFS would rock !
Note that some proper bike for rallycross tracks should be included then
Instead of using autoclutch, you press a buton to simulate the clutch. As it is quicker, you have almost no speed loss when changing gear. So the advantages given to manual clutch user (I mean using a pedal) is there anhilated by people pressing a buton / or having a macro pressing the clutch when engaging the gear for example. The advantage is quite unfair for people really using a pedal.
example on an old hotlap I did on South City Sprint 1 with the UFR : http://www.lfsworld.net/rafa/?raf1=Emyn_SO2_UFR_049840&raf2=Flotch_SO2_UFR_049970
other faster guys are using bc thing, on the rafa comparison you can see that on the straight he is changing gear quicker than me, spending less time on it, having a higher top speed. I do think he is using the same kind of setup than mine ... so this is not the pressure in the tires that is making him quicker.
More vicious people are using a macro to simulate an axis when changing gear, resulting in instant gear change
Forgive me if I am wrong, but if the guy is using the left foot for clutch, and right foot for braking and accelerating he is quite good : http://www.lfsworld.net/get_spr.php?file=60476
There is a "shortcut" on the hairpin of Aston North Reverse that is not detected. This is a snapshot of the lap uploaded on LFSWorld, and 0.6K2 does not see it as "out of the bounds" stuff.
Long, sure, but if you read you will find why ...
Anyway, seeing the recent releases, and considering that according to Scawen that now his high priority is physics, I guess we can plan to have the Scirocco in a not so long amount of time
UF has an hard top, so when removed, it makes the car to weight less (considering you do not keep it somewhere in the car to perform races )
LX have a soft top, so only Cx is affected when off.
hard subject about LHD / RHD. In the begining I found very pleasant to have different adavantages given to the driver according to its country's specifications ... but when lots of people were not using cockpit view and were switching the driver position to take 0.1s per corner ... sometimes you feel bad (I have learned to drive with hood view because of this).
Hope it will not end like the roof option for LX and UF1000 : first it was giving a weight advantage (for the UF only) against a worse Cx ... everybody was then using the roof on, and then Scawen removed the adavantages/penalties ... sad end ! Simulation is put in the background while it should have been the main subject ! AC has found the workaround : put 2 versions of the same car with slightly different characteristics
In the end, maybe an hardcore 'option' would fit everybody : hotlap or multiplayer host only allowing onboard cam for example.
