Quote from Franky.S :you just need to ignore it, if they do steal your sets you just need to beat them and show them how to drive it

Not really what I meant, personally I do not care about it and my team feels the same way. But it opens the way for many arguments and I do not see how this could improve camaraderie between competitors!

Call me unrealistic, call me idiotic in this theory, call me an idealist if you want. But if you do, ask yourself this one question:

What, other than money or because you enjoy it, is a big driving factor in participation in anything group-based?

Camraderie

I completely agree with you, but there is one major problem to this, the MPR extractor. How do you want to get everyone training together when top teams openly use it, I'm not going to name anyone, but not long ago some teams decided to have an agreement not to use it and it is the same teams who come on the servers accusing others to use their sets and so on (don't ask me how they know that ). In single driver events they don't seems to care too much, but it will be a problem when the endurance season is going to start. The mentalities of many drivers was already an obstacle to camaraderie and the MPR extractor is going to do even more damage! (more than I wanted to admit)

I've never complained about the lake of content or development and I'll never do, but things like the MPR extractor is a real problems for league racing and patching it could help us greatly!

Quote from Cornys :

If there was less competition between the separate leagues do we as a community beleive that league racing would become more interesting once again?

Just to be clear on this one, GenR do not want to compete with anyone as league organisation (we only compete on the track as drivers), starting to organize leagues was just our last step to achieve in LFS, also we felt like we could do something different, so we are trying to offer different ways of racing and avoid what you guys are already doing as much as we can. But more importantly we want to keep friendly relationships and we try to compromise as much as we can, that's why we had a join venture with Thilo on the NEC and we are always working closely with Deko from NDR for the planning of our leagues. But of course it is not always possible to compromise with everyone, though if I remember well we've moved one of our races to accommodate you last year!

The deal here is to not be stubborn and to avoid thinking that if a league doesn't work well it is the fault of the drivers and/or the ''competition''. When we try a format and it fails, the only thing we can do is try to improve it or ditch it and start something new...and with the downfall of the community it is becoming increasingly complicated to find something which works well enough to maintain a full grid through the all season, so I do not believe that competition between league organisations is the issue here!...if you feel alone, then just try to get closer to the drivers and organizers, talk to them and try to find compromises, always in a friendly way of course!

For the TBO cars, it is more complicated, I've organised 5 seasons of Dailycious series which were very popular in 2009 and 2010, we had close to full grid for most races. But what I have understood about those cars is that they only work per periods and fail in others. The main reason we are failing with TBO trophy is because of the big amount of signups (which we didn't expect) and the much too high level we get in quali, this is alienating the midfield amateur drivers, but we are very much aware of that, so we don't put the fault on the drivers or the competition, but only on our bad quali format for which we are looking for solutions!

Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts! (Winston Churchill)

For the pickup part, I think we should add where we are, otherwise it is pointless as ppls would not know where to go.

Maybe like this:

Yes it is sad that north and south American based organisations do not do more for that continent and there must be enough racers to do something interesting...sadly the other way around, it is not possible for European based organizers to manage races in those times.

I agree with you Troy, that's precisely why I think we should spend more time rebuilding that mid field and amateur champs are key to maintain that. And believe me we had never expected that much sign ups in our leagues and we're going to look for solutions in future leagues and series.

=> basically almost everything gets the blame of that except LFS lack of content progress.

Yeah. Logical.

Well, I think it is refreshing to have a chat about those things without mentioning development (blaming everything on the devs isn't any better btw), personally I'd like to keep going without thinking about S3 or extra content, ppls who keep talking about it are contributing in demotivating everyone and it has no positive effect on the devs either... so what's the point?

I've been active in almost all sides of lfs, from demo to league racing (except cruise and Drift), and I can see many reasons why we got to this point, and most are not related to development!

Demo should have been restricted in some way, a simple 3 months time limited demo account would probably have incited more ppls to buy licenses as most racers only care about their stats....instead we have the biggest chunk of the racers camping on demo servers for years.

In S1/S2 public racing I think that multiclass racing has had a very negative effect on the general servers activities, it is very opportunistic to offer something for everyone as ppls will always join the most busy server, in the end it kills all the servers which are more specialized...there used to be many popular (single class) servers and drivers sprayed themselves over them, then when CTRA started everybody went there, and that trend has been repeating since... I mean nothing bad for the guys who manage those multiclass servers, they have done the best thing they could do to get a popular server and succeeded, so respect for that!...buy many got bored of the racing and managing unpopulated single class servers, they left or looked for something else!

In league racing we have tolerated too many bad behaviour and the drivers who should have shown the good example didn't and many ended up believing it was the right way to get to the top, what we see now is the result of that mentality, they quit as soon as they see no chance to be in top 3 and respect now one on the track. It resulted in a very bad ambiance for all the drivers who participate in leagues, the amount of protests increase considerably and we got many fights and arguments...then many just started to look for other sims and a better racing mentality/ambiance... But like I said, we are all responsible for that, organizers and drivers!...Also we need new drivers to join leagues racing consistently and for that we should organize more amateur/beginner leagues and series, I believe that leagues like NDR's GTAL were very important for the league scene in general (@deko: hint!! ).

On the PR side, the lfs forum has been very negative in recent years, mainly due to the ppls who don't race and spend their time trolling and flaming others, this is keeping the important ppls away (the ones who race and have something positive to share). What we read in topics today is not representative of what the active community thinks, but they don't share it because they are just afraid to be bullied by the forum masters (or losers)... Maybe a stronger moderating system would help, but something more radical could be done too, something like needing a certain amount of kms per month to be allowed to post in most forum sections (of course I realize the need for some sections to remain open for new comers who need help).

Anyway I don't think we should point the finger at anyone, we are all responsible in some way and the way things are now, only a collective effort will allow our community to survive, by that I mean Teams, Drivers, Organizers, moderators and Developers!

My 2 cents...

Those Coke candies do increase in size, I should have put one without Rum on the picture for reference, but they were more than double size when I got them out...And I always eat them like candies next to what ever drink I fancy on the moment!

Quote from Bob Smith :General recipe is flavoured jelly, vodka, and 'mixer'.

Flavour-mixer combinations I'm planning are as follows:
* Strawberry and white rum
* Tangerine and spiced rum
* Orange and limonce
* Pineapple and Jager (not in photo because it's in the freezer, where it belongs)
* Lemon and gin
* Lime and midori
* Blackcurrent and amaretto
* Raspberry and American whisky liqueur

That's 140 shots worth.

You forgot the Rum&Coke candies!!

Take an air tight box (Tupperware) , put the Coke candies in it and top it with Rum (be generous, candies will absorb it) , then close it and leave it the fridge for at least 48H to infuse....when ready remove the remaining Rum, the candies have at least doubled in size and are very soft...it melts in your mouth, consume moderately!

Don't forget that we split the field in two categories, so half of the grid will be bronze or silver drivers for sure...in the higher categories there will be more pros of course, but I think it is a good way to show the level they have to achieve....but we'll give this one some thoughts!

I don't know if we should consider pro+pro pairing, this champ is meant to be 75% for real amateur, we allow pairing of different levels to challenge the more advanced driver to teach the amateur to improve his skills and pace...This is an attempt to do something different and there is more than enough stuff for Pro drivers, also I don't want to go through the discussion about the added ballast as it would have to be so high that pro+pro would not have a chance to win!

Rule book has been updated!

Ok here is what we're going to do, I think the first combo is ok with 1% and we do not want to change the restriction track per track, so what we could do is change it after the first race and keep it like that for the remaining of the season. So we have setup the ''& GenR Public Racing'' server with XFG+XRG(2%) on the second combo of the season (6laps race with 60min qual). Everyone is welcome to help us gather the needed data, so feel free to go there to donate your best lap!...note that it is our public server, so racing will be allowed...vote for quali if you want to HL.

Two rules: if you do a top lap, make a replay as we could ask it in the end...and no complaining here in the forum, admins will be regularly on the server!

Combo will change every 3 days till we've tested the 5 combo's, have fun!

Quote from TFalke55 :That's a very unpopular approach I'm affraid.

Yes!

And guys, plz consider that this is not a discussion on how the league should be, atm the rules says it is 1% and the start is more than 2 months away...The only thing I'll do here is have a discussion with the admins about it after we've done some more testing with race fuel (we are very active, but also very busy, so be patient), but what ever happens I don't think it is going to affect your car choice as if you prefer one over the other it is probably because you are already faster in that car without restrictions..if you're still unsure, put TBA in your signup form, but do not expect too much!

I'll keep you posted if we do a public test, in the mid time plz stop complaining!
