I don't want to trade in a balanced class, just because one user thinks one car is too slow and boring on one track.
It's like saying "powerboost the LX6, I find it boring to drive on WE1", so a big -1 from me to OP
Did you even bother to read my post about the Wranglers? They were almost stock, only thing exchanged were the tyres (because stock tyres are usually some compromise, not pure offroad) and a winch (which just makes sense for serious offroading).
Even the Jimny (older model) could do good offroading while being completely stock. I know that, we had both of them.
The Defender is a very good offroad car - but by far not the only one
I like the the mod-approval thingy duke_toaster suggested (or at least I think that's what he meant), even if it could require a few more mods for the IS-section
btw: can we have xylophone raping hippo turd in lfs?
Ermm. No? There is no chrome - at least on the Wrangler my father has. This one got leaf springs all around by the way
Plus some guys drove up to the top of the Ojos del Salado (6642 meters) with almost stock wranglers ... How can you call that a non-proper offroad car?
I would scan the article, but a) my scanner is broken and b) it's german anyway
Just had a quick read through. Anyone willing to explain how you cannot have the meter on the outside view? I just like to drift outside so I can keep an eye on where I am positioned on the track. I've had a look at the ini but I do not see anything.
Technical limitations of LFS. You simply can't use it outside.
@OP: Only if we get gravel rallies with tight turns
@slide ways: first of all: It's spelled "why", "you" and "are", second of all racing is about being the fastest, auto cross as well as drag racing are about being the fastest.
Sorry Tristan, but your MX-5 just doesn't have the off road capabilities like my father's Wrangler... now it's your turn to prove what is girly about that one
(Ok, I admit, most of the time he drives it in RWD mode )
Skidmarks and see-through windows would be nice, sure, but what about auto-skindownloading? That would make it much easier to get other people's skins... maybe it should only work for licensed users though
+1 from me for anything with cooling damage, even the gearbox
I actually think there should be two more limitations.
There should always be more licenced users online - Simple. If there are 600 on each, and a demoer askes the server lists, they will get "There cannot be more demo players than licenced players. Buy S2!" or words to that effect. It shouldn't start booting people when licenced drivers get booted off.
A 15 second nag screen when requesting the server list - er, self explanatory.
Nah, that's one of LFS' good points, that it is so unrestrictive. Demo users have a hard time online anyway, and they miss some nice features (auto-x, skin-download) and fun cars/tracks as well as clean servers.
And if I remember correctly, LFS wasn't made for profit, it was made to be the best driving sim out there. If our dear devs wanted profit, they would have sold their souls to EA or somebody almost as evil.
on-topic bit: Larger auto-x area would be great, yeah
Uhm... critizism...
Well, the framerate is horrible, you see one car every 40 seconds or so, the chat is also enabled, there is no content (none that I could see at least)
You still got a lot to learn before publishing your videos
Ive tried the mouse and just simply do not like the feel of it, LFS is the first racing game i have played on the PC and all the others ive played on consoles so a controller seems the better option for me.
A gamepad is - in my opinion - the worst choice for for LFS. I can hardly drive with the keyboard, it's so-so with the mouse, but the PS2-pad is horrible for LFS. The G25 wheel however, is great
Not too sure, Indi 500 was my first sim though (I couldn't read much English that, it was all down to guessing )
Accolade's Grand Prix was most likely my first racing game, my love for racing sims started with LFS ... I know I'm late
