Quote from XCNuse :In my mind for those curious, the LX8 and the LXR are different cars.

Amen to that.

With the S1 physics the LX6 was more than a handfull, in later S2 versions its very controlable. Time is right for LX8 time is right for more POWER!

A wrc stage is at least twice as long as the longest aston variant and three-five times that of westhill. Since rally is'nt about learning every mm^2 of the track driving it by heart, we need lots of stages for a realistic experience.

Imagine the modelling task getting such a monster to the same level as the rest of the tracks.
I'd rather have more conneted loop race tracks (asuming they will not hire any modellers). But I have nothing against very long tracks, i would love a nordschleife or isle of man style track. I have nothing against poor quality broken up tarmac like on rally stages, or dirt/gravel. A very long mixed gravel tarmac course would be sweet.

Another problem is that the dirt feel in LFS has fallen behind the rest in quality, its still on S1 levels imho.

Quote from XCNuse :Now there really isn't any point of this right now because Scawen just said AI is the next thing on his list.

Then its more important to give some ideas now. Saying "you should have done it this way" after the fact is pointless.

I think it would be very hard to provide a good interface for ai-programmers. But I do think we should be provided all the AI parameters (like an AI setup) instead of just learner/quick/etc. (a starter would be to set the consistency from machine to sloppy) That would push the burden of fine tuning the AI to the user giving more time for coding.

We also need a "playlist" so we can set the AI to autolearn some tracks over night.

I know Im quite redundant but I want.

* amateur level drag racer (you know, a street car with a HUGE engine tune up and humongous turbos with turbo lag you can measure with a stop watch) These are supposed to be road legal so they can be track raced for entertainment.

More Historic classes than the UF1
* 4door saloon, classic xtcc (not the modern space frame silhouette kind but from homoglated chassis style = heavy)
* Mid size car with soft handling (like the cortina and gta in GTL)
* Old school f1 (GPL! GPL! GPL!)

Thanks!
Take a well deserved break, becuase tomorrow is X1 patch coding time :bullwhip:

No, that looks like drifting, car ballet to the "serious" racers around here, so we cant have that

I have more problems with my neighbours when I forget to turn the speakers down then I get from lactic acid buildup in my arms from ffb.

But its prolly fixable with a similar kind of script as the one Shotglass mentions.

Quote from MAGGOT :This really needs to be locked. The same arguments and points are made again and again and again, and then flaming starts again.

Better keep them all in this thread than in a new thread every month.

Aston Cadet is all you need, maybe add some close bariers for extra trickyness. Sure, there is not very hilly but its technical enough.

Quote from duke_toaster :Alpha, then beta, then final*

*Also known as gamma with the "release and call finished first, ask questions/patch later" mentality.

Sounds logical, s2 alpha a-z then s2 beta a-z then final s2... with servicepack a-z. Then ist time for the preleases of S3. :
No worry though, its all in the name, it will be fun a plenty in every little patch.

S3 will include atleast one over powered four door saloon racer, thats what I hea... hope.

NO.
A. I think he will get more time for coding without it.
B. Its boring to cope with all the nagging and bs generated in the forum if he promise a feature, then realize its alot more work than expected, and postponing it for a distant patch.
C. If I havnt seen it it doesnt exist. (in a world of marketing I don't beleve anyone for what they say, only what they have done, as evidence I bring any game made by crapmasters in recent years)
D. New patches should be like opening christmas, its not fun if you know exactly whats in them.

Quote from Hartsa_550 :So, is it about time now to move on and concentrate resources to making LFS S3.

That is EXACTLY what the small "meaningless" patches are. You might think that releasing the whole alfabet (not to mention all the test patches) is a waste of time, but you are wrong. Solitary coding for years on features that doesnt work well in the real world is wasting time (and you cant know if they work or not unless you try them on a large scale)
The developement model (release phases etc) used for lfs is optimal for getting things done. Its also optimal for me becuase I dont have to wait for years for S2, Im driving it already there are just a few features missing and its done (unless Scawen invents a new extended alfabet

Im dreaming of a lx8, heaps of power and no downforce, slicks optional.

Something that is a real challenge to drive, like the lx6 was before the physics improvements. A Formula Historic FHI (think gpl car) would serve the same purpose. Pure entertainment, getting clean laps in demands concentration, doing fast laps is very hard, even getting off the line fast should demand concentration, plenty of "LOL, totaled it again" to be said.

I need a lfs icon with transparent background instead of black, my Quick Launch looks non perfect with a black icon among the others. I know someone has made it already so I dont have to find a iconeditor to do it myself.

Please.

I would like it like lfstweak, you select a car, switch the engine, widen the tyres etc. Limitations on engine position/size for diffrent chassis, tyre width, weight.

The car gets a name, Kit Car KC0 to KC9 (10 different versions based on weight/performance), so you can compete online.

No visual change except the tyres and a bulge in the hood if you add too large engine

Quote from tristancliffe :Get rid of the understeer and it's lovely. Trouble is, I've only ever once got rid of the understeer, and I can't remember which set up that was with

Wiggle the tail to steer. Use the pendlum effect of the 60% rear weight and you dont need any setup tweaks.
