It's not a GPL rule, but a general racing rule coming from real life. However, except for drastic changes to the tracks, there can nothing be done about it really. The tires stacks have the problem that once hit the tires fly anywhere, causing potential harm to drivers that are close to the idiot and yet driving regularly. Putting in walls would make it unrealistic and very unsafe if something goes wrong.
Even in GPL they have the occasional wallrider on the open servers. So there is nothing you can do about it except only race with friends and/or in leagues.
40% of a 6h race are 144min. That makes a good 4 stints in the XRR (taken from experience at Kyoto). I don't see how a 4th stint takes you "far over the 40%".
We removed the penalty for "legit" disconnects. We found a way to extend the tracker to recognize real disconnects. However, the 2lap penalty for graveltrap/damage/out of fuel stands.
If we recognize that people disconnect manually to circumvent above mentioned situations, they will be assessed a 2 lap penalty and a stop and go.
The 40% rule stands. It was added to avoid teams having their best driver drive most of the race. We feel this reason is very valid and that OCR's situation should be solved differently than by removing that rule. If it were down to hardware problems or something like that, an exception can most probably be made. But except for the 12h of Kyoto the schedule is know long enough beforehand that teams should be able to get their scheduling and planning done well ahead and therefore they should not run into time problems.

We decided to leave the 2 laps penalty for disco/graveltrap since it was in the rules that way before the race. There will be a change from now on, though.
It was your "wtf" that caused the penalty. Only I couldnt give it earlier, because I was driving myself.
My own race went quite well, didn't put in the best times, but pretty consistant. Had to let Vince go when he closed up because I was in bad-tire-temps-state, but other than that it was fine.
The lappers all behaved very intelligent and smart, thx for that.

Statement: DQ of Twister Racing
We had to DQ Twister Racing due to reckless driving. F. Dörfel took out the leader and then drove with a totally wrecked car spinning multiple times during a stretch of 500m. Before that, one Twister driver cut and took out the faculty team once.
After F. Dörfel was ordered to the pits, he gave the car to M. Golombeck. He kept cutting the chicanes, ran through gras and almost took out then leader R. Reinkoort in the last slow turn by cutting across the bumps.
This is unacceptable driving and unless Twister Racing shows big improvement in their regular league activity between now and the next team, they will not be admitted to the next race.
Okay guys, tomorrow is the big day, so here a few thoughts:
1. For our stats tool we still need the LFSWorld nick of a few drivers, especially newly added ones. Could you pls post them in this thread? If you are not sure you havent submitted them, just post anyways.
2. It's a long race. A very long race. So drive accordingly. One of the rules of endurance racing is that you dont do contested passes any more than you absolutely must. Finishing after 12h is more important than wheel banging in the first couple of minutes.
3. The start: remember we will do double file from the last sector on. Leave room and be careful if you think you need to warm up your tires on the formation lap. We will drive single file (each car after the other) until split three, then form up in double file (rows of 2 cars). Be careful in the chicanes. The leader: hold speed 80km/h when the pacecar pulls into the pits until the admin gives you the green flag.
4. For information purposes, we advise a member of each team come into #lfs-endu at 9:30(am) CET, that is half an hour before the race.
5. Ocrana FXO GTR is short on racers so one of the racers of their other teams will jump in as substitute. Normally this is not encouraged, but we figured having 13 cars is better than 12.
1. Scoring now reflects what we have discussed above.
2. Disconnects are penalized with 2 laps as well (or the amount of laps it takes the team to reconnect if it takes longer than two laps). This is to make sure a team straned on the track does not disconnect to circumvent the 2lap penalty.
3. Qualifying days moved to Sunday and Thursday in order for our North-American racers. Thursday because it leaves a bit more time before the race. This change does not apply for the 12h of Kyoto.
4. The appeals-rule includes a "must submit replay" part now. This is in order to make sure we do have a replay of the scene. Of course we hope this rule won't be necessary.
Tweak: how many tire stacks did you have flying around? The last thing we want to have is tire stacks hitting another driver, so that is my main concern about this solution.
