I just fell off my chair laughing about that statement. If JPM is better than KR then how come KR has beaten JPM 5:1 this season? How come he makes it to the top10 quali every time and JPM does not? How come he finishes races and JPM does not?
In fact, I fell off the chair a second time reading your statements on the other drivers as well.
We will run 2 servers on Friday so that all teams can participate. If you want to have 2 drivers setting times, keep in mind that they must not be on track at the same time. Also, pls join the same server with both drivers. We will not count the faster of the times if times are set on different servers.
I know and I am disappointed about it as well. But it's simply a fact that if you want to race for the win, you gotta take the FZR. So I'm not disappointed about the teams choosing that car but about the general balance in LFS.

We decided not to invite two teams (which I won't name) for the following reason:
One team had a driver with dialup connection which we do not see as sufficient for the MoE. The other team had drivers with less than 200 laps of GTR experience online combined (!), which in our eyes is too little experience in the cars.
Race info:
Please remember that both drivers need to drive a qualifying lap. The grids will be sorted by the aggregate of both drivers' times.
Grid 1 will be GT1, Grid 2 will be GT2. There will be a seperate GT2 ranking and an overall ranking. We still do reserve the right to adjust the grids after qualifying if we see fit. GT1 will be 15 cars, GT2 the rest.
First Qualifying is Sunday, May 14, 21:00CEST (CEST=GMT+2), second Friday, May 19, 21:00CEST.
Other than that: more rule changes in the 21st century have been made against Ferrari than in favor: new points scheme, new qualifying system in 2003, no tire change in 2005. Every time these changes came after a dominant Ferrari season and every time Ferrari struggled to adjust. And these changes were done by the FIA.
Rofl. Seldom I have read funnier bullshit. F1 is a racing series organized and run by the FIA. The FIA is a club, a non-commercial organization that cannot be sold or bought. Noone owns a stake in the FIA because there is no stakes to own. So the FIA can neither be floated nor sold nor bought.
The part that can be owned is the Formula One Administration Ltd. (FOA) and the Formula One Management Ltd. (FOM). They are owned in part by Ecclestone's wife and different banks and they are controlled by Bernie. Again, no Ferrari in this part.
Ferrari used to (or still does, not sure) own a stake in the GPWC, the breakaway series that the manufacturers (Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Toyota, Renault and earlier Ferrari) used to plan. That is not associated with F1 or the FIA in any other way that the members of the GPWC participate in the F1.
If you want to make up conspiracy theories, try to get your facts straight. Otherwise the potential for self-ridiculing is quite high.
We got 27 applications so far. We are thinking of running two servers with 15 cars on one and the rest on the second server.
In that case, grids will be set by the qualifying times of both drivers combined (meaning each driver must drive at least one flying lap in quali). However, since we have 4 XRR and 2 FXR signups so far, we are considering moving 1 or 2 of each of those cars into the first server if they can't make it on qualifying time only. This has the reason that we are still hoping that these two cars can regain some of the time via longer stints (which is no given) and we do think of this race as a bit of a test run for the overall balance in the GTR class.
This is just a first notice of our thoughts, they might change until final acception of the cars.
If you had taken a closer look, you'd have seen the number of pitstops. The relevant numbers are that of the 2nd and 6th placed FZR: as little as the best XRR did. I know of the 2nd place FZR that while they did take fresh tires every time (R2s, mind you), they also ran a full tank each time. The XRR might be capable of running longer on one tank, but R2s afaik don't last the full tank on the XRR and R3s might last, but are another second slower than the R2s. So even if you ran the full tank, you'd be beaten on that distance by a one-stopping FZR.
Another stat: In MoE we had a whopping 3 or 4 FZRs, 3 FXRs iirc and the rest was XRRs. Now after the patch we got a signup of 26 cars so far, 2 FXRs (no real change), 4 XRRs (one is in doubt due to a driver injury) and the rest is FZRs. The XRR in doubt and one of the FXRs was only entered because I specifically asked that team to enter an XRR for comparison reasons because I knew they had some of the fastest XRR drivers out there. They were so kind to also enter an FXR.
I bet the 4 XRRs will have a hard time qualifying on the first grid for the 4h and that is not the way it should be. Period.
Correct. And that is quite a nice feat, actually. But right now, we have the FXO in TBO and the FZR in GTR that are the best car on all tracks under all circumstances. And that is what is wrong with the balancing and what should be changed. I'd like to see classes where Car 1 is better on track A, yet Car 2 is better on Track B.
F1 has always been about which team can bend (pun intended) the rules the best way without getting caught by scrutineering.
That was the case with the Brabham car mentioned in your link, with the lead in the tank used by Tyrell (okay, that was a pretty dumb try ), the wonderbrake by McLaren in 1998 or most recently Renault's launch control which was linked to the jumpstart-control frequencies in 2003 (or was it 2002?), the too wide Michelin tires in 2003 and the double tank used by BAR last year.
Last year, Ferrari was not once accused of cheating. Why? Because they didn't perform. As soon as they start performing again it's the old "nasty Ferrari, they got the FIA in their boat and who can't see that must be blind" routine again. For a Ferrari fan, that is a good thing. It shows that they are a force to be reckoned with again.
Frank and I are very pleased to announce that Alex Fischbock of German 24 Race fame decided to join our staff and help us with the upcoming special event(s) and the new season which will start in fall.
Alex is a very experienced member of the German LFS community who was one of the founders of www.live-for-speed.de and the 4Players Teamliga. He just got done organizing the most recent 24hours of Kyoto Ring GP and brings even more valuable endurance racing experience into the staff.
In the next couple of weeks we will be working hard to bring a new homepage for MoE online, a task in which Alex will play an integral role. And of course the Welcome Patch 4h of Aston North want to be organized as well.
As a quick reminder: application deadline for the May 21 race is this Sunday, May 7th.
The wankel patent must have run out years ago, patents are only valid for a couple of years. The engine system is now how old? 40 years? I don't think there is a trademark on Wankel, but I might be wrong there and copyright...hardly.
It would also have that turbo that SCAVIER love so much. Then throw in a Jaguar XJR-9 for a V12 and a Sauber C 9 for a B8 and you'd even have different engines in the class. Or just keep it to one chassis and engine for great balance and great experience.
That in itself isn't respecting the other driver, is it? So no need to argue any further.
Okay, misunderstanding then. I thought you meant "I'm inside, I can choose any line I want because I have right of way". Right to a clean pass: yes, all for it.
If that is what your racing etiquette books say, they are shit. There is no such thing as right of way, there is only respect for the other and the dire need to negotiate the track without running into each other. Therefore: if you are running through a turn with 2 cars next to each other, both cars need to respect the fact that another car is there. This especially comes true for your T1 occurence: both of you should have respected each other and carried on with slightly less speed than usual and I am sure both of you would have made it safely through the turn.
This does involve not trying to pass where it makes a pass totally unsafe which opening a third line in a turn would be the case.
As promised, here is the info for the May 21 race:
It will be held at Aston North, car class is GTR as usual. The race will be 4h and teams will consist of only two drivers. Each driver must race at least one stint (more than 45min). We will have 17 cars on one server and we are planning to run at least 2 servers with sorting the grid by combined qualifying times of both drivers.
Your application can be sent in from now on until may 7th. They must contain The driver names (real names), driver's lfsworld nicks, the car used and if we don't know you also your racing pedigree. If we get enough participants, we also could run three servers, but for that we must have 44 applications at least.
Please send your application to: applications 'at' mastersofendurance.eu
