Quote :Unfortunately people think that incidents = a good race, a view I do not subscribe to.

Today's GP2 race was not great because of accidents but because of great racing (passing and defending) going on. Granted, Hamilton could only pass so many because he spun early on, but nevertheless, the GP2 is far from being an idiots' series where it only gets exciting because of crashes. If you consider passing incidents, it would be a different story of course, but then you would have no clue of racing.

Just a slight correction: BAR-Honda was using the "large" fuel tank.

They changed a bit of the rules for the brakes and stuff. Thats why Ferrari is using little winglets on the brakehousing (which are actually movable aerodynamical part) and those wheeldiscs.

Supposedly the brakehousings now are deemed to belong to the body of the car thats why those little winglets are allegedly legal. The exact arguments for the wheeldiscs I have not found yet.

Great, 300hp on a FWD. Talk about waste of power, rubber and time.

No, that is not planned yet, Tweak. In my big huge vision we would have 40 teams, prototypes and two classes of GT cars, changing weather and changing day/night. But currently, the main event will be run with GTR cars only simply due to the limited amount of cars that can run.

Renault didn't perform well in Indy either. They did have the mass damper back then. They also performed worse than Ferrari in Magny Cours, with the mass damper and with on-par-Michelin tires.

I'd rather think the bad performance on the weekend, while partly being caused by the lack of the damper, was down to a car that was not fit for the track, an off-day by Alonso (he was a second slower than Fisi, that is not due to some missing damper [and if it were, he would not be a deserving champion]) and a tire-choice made necessary by the bad handling car that didn't help either.

Quote :WSC was canned by the publisher after a large marketing staff change

I guess that's the way the Wests like to tell the story. But after announcing the game in 98, showing vids in 99 and increasing development time due to ever outrageous feature ideas by the Wests, the publisher simply pulled the plug before they got mugged in by the same problem RL has now: it will never be finished. I know there was something there for WSC. I still have the vids somewhere, but it's not enough to make a few renders or videos, you at some point need to present contents to customers.

Quote :All 3 races had crashes, bumps, offs, spins and anything else that is exiting in a race

Funny, I always thought racing was about passing others, fighting for position and ultimately do that very fast. Guess I was wrong the last 28 years and I need to adopt a new style of LFS driving.

No, they don't. I was making fun of their merchandise production years before they actually have a product in their hands and of their constant progress reports of things that might be a nice gimmick in an otherwise perfect simulation.

In reality I am quite surprise that people actually do think this software will ever see the light. The Wests have by now quite an impressive record of boasting and not producing (WSC anyone?).

Yes, ajp71. It's owned by one of the drivers in the GP Masters.

Yeah, RL is alive. Instead of producing key rings, they now produce real cars as merchandise. See attachement.

MoE Season 2006/07: Preliminary Schedule and More

As we promised, we want to start again in September. Therefore here you can now find the preliminary schedule for the upcoming season. All dates are preliminary and may change but it is roughly what we plan.

Sept. 23 (12h)
Oct. 28
Nov. 25
Jan. 13 (24h)
Feb. 10
March 10

All races will start at noon CET (summertime when applicable), except the 12h (10am) and the 24 (4pm).

We are looking for volunteers as marshalls who will support us on race weeks. If you are willing to contribute, pls send a mail to admins at mastersofendurance.eu.

Also, a few more notes on the new season:

1. Number of teams

We will accept 16 unique teams. We're not open to applications yet, so please do not apply yet. Currently we do thing we will have enough interest that we can safely say we will not allow two car team entries.

2. Support races

This is currently just an idea spinning around in our heads. If we do get enough marshalls and if there is enough interest (at least 10 additional entries, max 16), we will run support races on race weekends. These will be at the same track but will run a shorter distance (3h) and will run a mix of cars (GTR and FWD GTR). Teams can enter a second car in the support races. However, there will be no season-standings for the support races and the marshalling will be lesss strict during the race.

We see these races as a proving ground for young teams. If it is successful, we will in future require new teams for the real deal to have raced in at least 2 support races.

3. Coverage

If you are interested in covering the MoE, pls do get in touch with us via admins at mastersofendurance.eu. We will see what coverage possibilities we will get. English coverage is preferred.

Well, that's it for now. A new website will be readied in August.

Quote :I'm definitely at the grip limits through most corners.

Being 5s behind, you definitely aren't.

But that is besides the point. As is all this longing for WR setups when you are not even close to being a WR driver.

The race_s setups come with the game right out of the box. They are very good setups that are on a rather drivable side and yet fast. Work with those setups and try to learn how to the car behaves in different situations. Try to learn not to overdrive the car but getting a smooth line and smooth weight transfers. Only when you significantly improve your times using the race_s sets, you should look at other sets again.

WR sets are just that: a setup that some dude drove a WR with. They are by no means the best setups there are and even less good setups for beginners. Quite often they are very specially built for the driver who drove the WR with it but not for John Doe average driver. race_s sets are for that group of drivers.

There have been much bigger demos in recent years. Face it: dialup connections aren't what you need in today's gaming world.

Quote :Not like those snobby skinny F1 people who blame all on others.

There is quite some blaming going on in Nascar as well. Just do some reading about the Kenseth-Gordon incident at Chicagoland last week.

Quote :Ok, maybe i'm crazy, but i've seen Nascar-type cars on curcuits lately, doesn't Nascar (or some form of stock car) now turn both ways ?!

You are not crazy, they have been doing that for quite a while. There are always 2 road course events (Watkins Glen and Sonoma in recent years) on the schedule.

IRL (the other openwheel series in the states) adopted 2 road races since last year, as well. They were oval only before.

Quote :You've got to admire Landis as he's having a hip operation soon

Personally, I am wondering about that quite a bit. He's supposed not to be able to climb stairs without pain, getting his hip replaced but now puts on such performances? Yeah right, and those who got suspended from the Tour never had contact with that doctor in Spain.

Might be that your LFS needs to have logged in to LFSWorld once which it probably does not when just viewing a replay.

Quote :After a couple of weeks First allowed Redline to re-release without the skins and tracks so that the mod breached no copyright.

It is a common misconception in the first/redline case that the issues were about skins, carnames and tracks. The rights to those things never belonged to Papy nor to DK or iracing. Those entities were only license holders and as such, that we can be pretty sure about, they were not entitled to enforce the intellectual property rights on them because these licenses were, again pretty sure, not exclusive (or have you heard of DK having an exclusive license on Spa?).

The grudge DK had with Redline was, just as with the other mods, a cracked nascar.exe that allowed to run the game without having the original game cd. I am pretty convinced that just the good standing of Team Redline in the papy community led to the point where they were allowed to rerelease while other modders were not. The other things such as carnames, tracks and so on were only part of that and happened to be changed upon the suggestion that these things may infringe intellectual property.

Yes. It's been announced like 2 years ago and is pretty old news. Check RSC for more info about it, all kinds of it, even not simracing related.

Quote :0 is a nice age to start sportscars racing, there is plenty of opportunities: FIA GT, LMS, DTM or at least WTCC.

In none of these series you can make multiple millions a year. In NASCAR you can.
