Quote :Just reminds me of his BS a couple of years ago at Monaco where he was coming out of the tunnel and then "brake checked" heavily under safety car thus causing JPM to run up his backside.

Right, he purposely did so to be put out of the race because he was running third and had a chance to win. Makes total sense.

Don't take it for granted we're getting a S3 alpha only because we have a S2 alpha.

Well, if you are saying "(maybe) after s2 final", what is there other than S3?

Col: you are saying balancing should be done for real only when the physics are done. They won't be done until S3, so you are also saying no balancing until then.

col: you are suggesting no changes before S3. And S3 might very well be 3-4 years away. Not changing anything would be a big put off for new and existing customers and thus be a bad marketing choice.

He has also quite bluntly stated that he would not have a problem with Kimi. He also has said so before about other drivers.

Besides, he will retire at the end of the year anyways.

Quote :You also seems to be implying that Engine construction is the main factor in accelleration

It is one of the main factors. There is a .45s difference between the FZR and XRR in one single corner in AS North (the tight hairpain). The FZR has torque right away, the XRR does not due to its huge turbo lag. Without the stupid turbo but a nice N/A engine, the XRR would be much closer to the FZR.

Mass is great to balance cars if they are pretty equal to begin with. Like in WTCC. But as Carlos said you'd need quite a bit of weight added to the FZR and you are not really trying to tell me 100-150kg of weight dont change the handling characteristics, do you? Also, making the FXR leighter does not change its fundamental topspeed problem which is where it loses most of its time. It will still run out of power because it loses so much of it in the three differentials it has.

Weight is not a no brainer. It is a simingly easy way out for a complex problem which brings up new problems.

Quote :AND will not require all hotlaps to be reset ?

Why is there a problem with resetting them?

Quote :Why is ballast not a good option? I can't think of any good reason. There seem to be three options for evening out the cars lap-times: change the weight, change the power, change the contact patch.

There is quite a bit more options:
1. Centre of Gravity
2. Trackwidth
3. Wheelbase
4. Tiresizes
5. Weight balance
6. Weight
7. Engine construction

1, 2, 4 are directly responsible for cornering speeds. 3 and 5 are responsible for the behaviour through a turn. 6 of course is important for cornering speeds, topspeeds and tire usage. 7 is responsible for how good a car accelerates.

The FZR on the WR hotlap on AS North is 5kph faster through turns than the XRR was in qualifying were the fastest XRR set a lap quicker than the WR at that time. That means that despite factor 6 being the same on both cars, the FZR has big advantages here. Personally, I think it has the much better centre of gravity.

We are in the great position that unlike league organizers, we can directly work with car manufacturer in a way that all of the above factors can be changed. That way we can work with the cars for a while until they fit into the phantasy tech regulations which state a minimum dry weight of 1100kg. It is the more sophisticated method of balancing the cars which promises better results.

If you just change the weight or the power of course you might get the same results in the end, but the side effects like tire usage and fuel consumption will be much worse.

Ballast is not the best option if we have more options to change the imbalance. Ballast is a last resort to change things.

I agree it would be nice to have the weight option for leagues, but I'd rather have a ballanced class from the start.

F1 are at midhigh to high downforce for almost all tracks. The only exception nowadays is Monza.

Read BWX232's post, Cue-Ball. That's why people want evened out cars. A screenshot with a couple of all three GTRs or all three TBOs just looks so much nicer than a single make shot.

There's a bit more to look at, imho. Take cornering speeds in general: the FZR is about 5kph faster in the turns in AS North. This might be because it can run more downforce or maybe also due to things like trackwidth, wheelbase, tiresize and most importantly centre of gravity.

Weight and power aren't the only things to look at.

You gotta stop thinking "depends on the driver" and start thinking "driver with the same ability in different cars".

No n00b in an FXO or FZR will beat Rudi or Nils or Biggie in a XRR or RB4. But would Nils in a XRT have a chance against Rudi in an FXO (both being their favorite cars when performance is not counted)? Hell no. Simply because the FXO is a ****load quicker. Same goes for XRR vs. FZR.

Update on grid distribution: since we had 5 cars withdraw from the event since sign up, we would only have 7 cars on server #2 if we stuck with the original 15 car GT1 grid. This is not really fun for the teams in GT2 which is why we will half 11 cars on each server.

This means the following Grids:

GT1
1 Cyber Racing - FZR #1 FZR 16
2 Ocrana Racing #2 FZR 15
3 Muroc Racing #1 FZR 12
4 digiServ Racing Club FZR 25
5 Cyber Racing - FZR #2 FZR 17
6 pii-oh-dii FZR 6
7 MasterBlasters #2 FZR 7
8 MasterBlasters #1 FZR 26
9 Max Payne Racing Team FZR 2
10 1ST|Racing Black FZR 11
11 Muroc Racing #2 FZR 14

GT2
1 Cyber Racing - XRR XRR 18
2 teamnic XRR 8
3 1ST|Racing White FZR 10
4 Flying Finn Racing Team FZR 19
5 Black&White Racing XRR 27
6 Pedal To The Metal XRR XRR 5
7 Pedal to the Metal FXR FXR 28
8 OCRANA Racing #1 FZR 9
9 Zwarte Wind Racing Car #40 FXR 23
10 Zwarte Wind Racing Car #04 FXR 24
11 Serbian Racing Team FZR 29

We didnt want this to happen, but the teams that withdrew left us no other possibility.

Since the drivers of car #10 (1st|Racing White) kept on chatting well beyond the third reminder that chatting is not allowed during qualifying (it was 7 lines after the last reminder), the team will be given a Stop&Go penalty after the start.

Quote :Here in Finland Rosberg is of course 2nd most interesting driver (after Kimi) but there are lots of people complaining "don't support him, he's German".

Is that really important? Can you only like people that are of the same nationality as you are? I mean, I understand supporting "your team" in team sports as soccer. But in a sport where no such thing as a national competition exists (apart from the A1GP which is...well, just another racing series), where is the need for that?

Quote :You sound like an animal rights activist trying to give me one of their brochures, do I have to give it back quickly too because they're in such high demand ?

Not quite. I just don't like being supposed to have an opinion and being supposed to have done something which I have neither. And I do take the freedom to speak up against this.

Just take a look at it. It's worth it. We all saw it at one time or another and we all got our biased opinion about it. So at times it is quite useful to read other opinions. That might lead to having a different thought about it. No need to change your opinion, just overthink it.

Quote :Ever since I said Michael Schumacher just might not be the most godly adonis to have ever walked the Earth you've been at it

Read my posts again in this thread. I have not once commented on your opinion on MSC until you suggested I would be attacking your opinion because you disliked MSC. That is simply not true. I reacted to your opinion about JPM and KR at first and then simply made a little fun of the rest, which, agreed, includes the MSC part. However, that was the least bit of it and it was included in a generelization and not specially picked out. I didn't do so for a reason: I didn't even want to get into it, especially not with an Englishman. Simply because I do know that English and German f1 followers have different points of view on the Adelaide 94 incident. I could have picked out any other opinion of yours in your first post in this thread simply because they all lack proper thinking and analysis.

On the Adelaide 94 topic, I'd suggest reading the Atlas F1 Court btw which is the most unbiased discussion you can get on it.

Button had Prost as teammate? When he was 13 and driving karts? Did Prost drive some kart races during his 93 championship run which was his last racing in Formula 1? Btw. JB's rookie year was at Williams against Ralf Schumacher who didn't quite trash him

Thank you, Becky, this shows how little you know about F1 and how anyone should just avoid your posts.

Anyone hits the curbs as hard as Raikkonen does. Just take a look at Alonso last year in Magny Cours for example, at times he was in the air with all four wheels. Nowadays, the only time you overdrive your car is if you put it in the wall. Everything else the cars can take. The times when drivers broke their cars by overreving or other "wrong" driving have been over for quite some time. This is what every mechanic, engineer, driver and team boss in F1 will tell you.

Quote :"We have a problem with not generating enough heat." = "I lack confidence on cold tyres".

Right. I guess you dont drive slower when your tires are cold fresh out of the pits in LFS than you do with them at optimum temp, do you? God should have given you a brain. Try to use it at times.
