Didn't think you'd actually answer that question, haha!
We've all tried to predict when the patch(es) are going to be released and we're all always wrong but it's usually worth the wait and there's usually something more than what's been announced...we'll just have to wait and see what happens!
Oh, I know. I've been hanging around for quite some time. These forums have become a cesspool full of stupid with the few veterans still lingering keeping that stupid to a minimum. Just eagerly awaiting the next patch and the one after that, and that, and the one after that...all the way till Scawen finally says "I'm Done" and the team retires. So...yup. What did you have for dinner, SamH?
I'm curious as to what other stuff we'll find in the full game too...Just couple more weeks, hehe!
The one car I'm really looking forward to dicking around with in Forza is the foxbody, finally, a foxbody in a racing game other than Ford Racing. Hooray!
...weaksauce. After seeing all the awesome 720p picture/video that was said to be 'in game' and all the other visual candy...the demo doesn't really present that. At all...unless I'm blind? I'm playing on a 52" LCD via HDMI. It still looks better than Forza 2...
Instead of basing my opinion on the demo, I'm going to wait for the full game...I'm going to purchase it because I love Forza 2 but the demo did a bad job of presenting the game, in my opinion.
I think what it comes down too is the track choice was poor...I think they should of picked a real track or a track that you could compare to Forza 2 so you can see the contrast between the two versions.
Another thing that probably made it seem dull was I'm used to flying around the track in Forza 2 inside of cars that are borderline uncontrollable and have no problem getting sideways. Every car in the demo was boring...and it made the physics seem dumber than Forza 2, even with all the assists off the steering input was dull and add that to the track they picked and it made for a very boring experience. I played the demo for 15 min and then went right back to Forza 2....
You can't buy a single core CPU desktop anymore, every thing is dual core and up. Intel has 6 and 8 core CPUs in their future lineups. It's time to stop catering to older systems and start adding awesome DX10 neon light effects and NAWZ.
LFS could easily benefit from multi-core optimization. LFS could benefit from a lot of stuff but we just have to wait for it...
You know what I think? I think the devs should have planned better. You can’t release a good (incomplete) product, sell a bunch of it and then expect people not to want more and more of it or at least a finished product. That’s great that the devs want to run their project the way they feel fit but if everyone loses interest before it is even finished it seems like a bunch of wasted effort.
I also think these forums are useless now. It’s all groveling, annoying re-occurring threads and people suggesting the same crap over and over as if it had never been thought of before. Who gives a shit? LFS will be done with LFS is done and why I keep checking these forums must be due to how boring my job is and the lack of other content on the interweb. I know that every day I check lfs.net for an update will not be one. I also know that every day I check the forums there will be no new information regarding LFS. I know I will be greeted by the same kinds of posts, same suggestions and same annoyances.
I want LFS to continue to grow into its final ‘stage’ but unless something magical happens I don’t think LFS can keep up with the rest of the market. Even if LFS continued to chug along at its abysmal pace I don’t think I would be too interested in it unless it made some huge advances.
None of our opinions really make a difference. Nothing will change. Nothing has changed much at all in terms of development process and new content…we all, at least those who have been around since ‘Day 1’, know what to expect. Why we keep second guessing it is beyond me. Why I even took time to reply to this stupid thread is also beyond me.
no...the software is written to take full advantage of cell by offloading the load from the gpu to the cpu, which isn't very traditional. almost using cell as a crutch. devs have talked about ps3 being difficult to program for, they have also talked about the lack of gpu power. i'm not just popping off misinformation, these are things that have been discussed.
It does...compared to 360 it lacks power in a lot of areas. Fanboyism? Maybe you missed the part where I said I own a PS3? They looked slightly better...meaning there was and still is a difference between the PS3 and 360 texture quality...its not me making it up, it's facts...The games you are talking about are exclusives that have been written especially for that hardware...I'm talking about multiplatform...
There is something called value. I own both consoles...to me the PS3 has less over all value compared to the 360 dollar for dollar. I use Netflix all the time. I'm looking forward to last.fm coming to Live. I play the 360 more because the online community and usability is more simple than PSN's when it comes to playing with friends. I didn't say the PS3 was a bad console, they have a 10 year plan for it and it can only mature more.
The PS3 is more difficult to develop for so devs usually assemble things on 360 then port it over, that's a fact. Majority of games look better on 360 due to this and also due to PS3's lack of graphical power compared to 360. These are facts, not fanboy remarks.
I really loathe that debate....anyone who plays that debate is a fanboy. It cost me $400 for my console and the ability to use Live. I have more HD space than the comparably priced PS3, I have all the same games as PS3 (except for exclusives, that goes both ways). I have a better online experience than PS3, one that keeps mateuring (last.fm, netflix, twitter, facebook, community games, ect). My games tend to have sharper and more vibrant textures, this is due to PS3's lack of graphic processing power (Cell CPU is not a GPU).
They are 2 different consoles. I own both. I have played the same games on both consoles...it stuck me as odd that PS3 textures usually look more blurry and washed out compared to 360. If you poke around the web you can find comparisons confirming this too. I find PSN to be pretty poor compared to Live (you get what you pay for?) and Home is a joke. I like my PS3 but I like my 360 better because of the online community and ease of hopping into games with friends.
GT5 vs LFS is really a non-debate. I think GT5 vs Forza 3 is more reasonable. I used to love the GT series but after playing Forza 2 I was converted. The physics, damage, and sounds of Forza 2 blew me away. It seems Polyphony loves their eye candy because it sells. They never really talk about the 'sim side' only how pretty the game is.
Recently in an interview Turn-10 said, "The game [Forza 3] delivers these astonishing realistic graphics while calculating physics at 360 times per a second." That's impressive for a lil console, imo. Cars in GT5 can't even roll over, I'd say that's a big hole in the physics.
No, if forum members stopped doing that and pointing out useless things that are not bugs the forums would implode. You have been around long enough to know that.
I have played all the Gran Turismo's (1-5) and recently I picked up a 360 that came with Forza 2. I must say that Forza 2's physics are much nicer and way more refined than Gran Turismo's.
Everything from the tire physics to the engine modeling is far superior. Even the sounds are amazing, every car sounds like it should and not just a generic high revving V6 like in GT. Forza has something called a powerband...one that actually functions unlike GT's linear generic one. One thing that I never liked about GT was that all the cars felt generic and handled the same after a certian point. With Forza 2 that doesnt seem to be the case, each car has its own personality regardless of how much power it puts down. Forza is a superior product IMO and I eagerly await Forza 3 that has been announced for some time in 2009.
Gran Turismo has a name, and that's about it...well that and hype. After that its boring and just another arcade racer. Forza has more than that...including physics that actually work....
Everything except the video card is plenty good...The Intel GMA X3000 will be nothing but a big disappointment and really bottleneck the system in games (even in LFS)...You could get a $100 video card for that system and easily quadruple the video card 'performance'...
Is system good: Yes
Is video card good: No
Is fixing the video card issue a big deal: No (as long as it has a PCI Express slot)
