LFS was mentioned by the Dan Greenawalt (Game Director of the Forza Motorports series) in the latest edition of Auto Sim Sport (Volume 4, Number 3, Page 53). (www.autosimsport.net). It is a very brief reference but he says he prefers LFS over rFactor
...and 80% of the people who replied to this post aren't? the OP didn't attack anyone or call anyone names...all he was saying is that drifting takes a little more finesse and skill than most think...he never said drifting is great, he just said it is in a different league because it isn't about how fast you get from A to B, it's the style in which you do it...
Did any of you actually read his post or did you just see the thread title and jump on the 'hate' bandwagon?
this community has such a short fuse...and is quite hypocritical at times...
You're going to want go get a wheel or some other kind of controller with a more variable input because it is a wee bit difficult to control some of the more powerful cars with a keyboard and mouse. i'm not saying you can't master it with a bit of practice...it's just easier to pick up with a controller that has some kind of analog input.
Seems about right...a lot of religious people are zelots and/or very opinionated.
I think the whole idea behind all of it is silly. I can't grasp the idea of following something that no one has any proof that even exists. The Bible and other religious documents are nothing more than story books that teach basic morals. If you can believe that stuff than it must be just as sane for me to believe everything Nasturdamus or Myrddin Wyllt stated in their writings.
Religion causes wars, greed, arguments and a whole slew of other negative things. To me it is nothing but false hope or a false sense of security that leads to other complications. To each their own though...that's what is great about the world...we can all have our own ideas and beleifs...I'm not looking for a debate, just stating how I feel...
You can't start a topic about religion on a public forum without someone having a different opinion that thoes above...you probably opened a can of worms by posting this thread, heh...
Those kind of comments get old regardless of weather they are being used in a jokingly manner or not. Grow up, I'm sure you have better things to do than sit and take pot-shots at subject that has been repeatedly beaten like a dead horse. Sorry that you feel the need to talk down upon other people/countries in order to make yourself feel superior.
Save your money and avoid UTI. Wyotech is a far better school/campus.
I live by the UTI campus in Phoenix and I, myself, attended Arizona Automotive Institute (which ranks higher than UTI as far as real hands on training) and both UTI and AAI are jokes. I didn't learn anything new. UTI and AAI are great schools if you don't know anything and are looking for a basic education in automotive tech but if you already are knowledgeable enough to fix cars you'll end up feeling cheated in the end.
I have friends that went to UTI and I help them fix stuff all the time because they don't know how. It's almost sad that they spent 2x more than me to go to UTI compared to what I spent to attend AAI and they still know nothing. While attending AAI I would argue with the teachers and prove their theroy wrong. I have talked to instructors from UTI and found a lot of them to just be "parts changers" who were looking to get out of the shop environment.
Bottom line is...do your homework first before you throw down $20k+ on your education. I strongly recomend against UTI and I am basing my opinion off my personal experences and my friends lack of knowledge after attending UTI...I can just look at my friends and laugh...
I hope you take my advise because I would hate to see 1 more person make the same mistake that tons of others have, including myself...
I'll admit that sometimes I get anxious for the next update or piece of information and get bored of the current content but I always come back. I think one of the reasons I come back is because Scawen's posts reassure me that they (the devs) obviously have a vision for the final version of LFS. He always lets everyone know there is still progress being made but is so damn mysterious in the process. I think half the fun of watching LFS 'grow' is no one really knows what is going on other than the devs. Sure, we have a basic outline of what needs to be done but there are always other surprises that come along with the to-do list we are aware of. That's how it has always been, we think we are getting 1 thing and get a surprise along with it.
Do I wish LFS would move along a little faster, hell yeah. Does it bother me that sometimes it seems to crawl at a snails pace, sometimes. Can I reassure myself that LFS is still being worked on and we still have a lot to look forward to, absolutely!
It is pretty clear that Scawen is going to do it his way and not take crap from anyone about his method. It is his 'baby' and he can do what he pleases. I think this is a concept that quite a few people need to grasp, even if it is hard to at times.
Do you have a link to any information on that? I find that very hard to believe...
Yes, this generation is pretty poor when it comes to grammar but to allow such mistakes and not punish those who take shortcuts and ultimately 'un-educate' themselves is just plain silly. Ever seen the movie Idiocracy? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/)
Anyways, I think this, like 99% of the other suggestions, is something that will be addressed later. In my opinion this section of the forum is almost comical at this stage of LFS development. Sure, it is great to see what people want and what the community still wants to be fixed/added but after 4+ years I think the devs have a pretty good idea of what everyone would like, or atleast what the general concensus is.
I really don't see where the "this is a racing simulator" argument is valid when it comes to drifting...drifting is a form of racing, is it not? Just like drag racing is a form of racing...or tractor pulls...and so on...
While I agree that cruising is pretty lame and there isn't a need for a bunch of identical cruising servers to clutter the server list...there is no reason that people can not do what they like inside the application...they paid for it just like everyone else so why can't they drive their little virtual car around the track anyway they want...it's not like they are bothering anyone or hurting anything...
...my limited use? you don't even know what I do for a living so how about we stop assuming things.
I never said Vista didn't have issues, I said I have had 0 issues...I just find it funny how 99% of my customers have no problems with it and always thank me for pushing them to use it over XP. The only ones who have issues are those who are trying to use hardware/software that is older than time and needs to be updated/replaced anyway.
I transfer TONS of data over our network here at our office and have yet to see the network hang issue, I know it exists but I have yet to experience it for myself...and yes, the folders have data in them...most of them have 60GB+ of data in them...none of my friends/family/clients have had a chance to see this issue either...
We even just did a pretty large dentist office that has 4 front desk systems, 4 office systems, 30 opitories, central domain controller and 2 imaging systems...they really wanted Vista even though we recommended against it...they have been operational for a little over 6 months now and have had no issues, I have yet to hear one complaint from them, only praise...their patient and imaging database is over 450GB and gets larger every day...
Like wien said, companies are not rejecting Vista because it 'sucks'...they are rejecting it because there is no benefit of upgrading. It is simple economics...if it ain't broke why fix it? Things do, however, age and become outdated...do you honestly think everyone is going to use XP till the end of time? I guess we should all still be using NT4...
Again, I never said Vista doesn't have any problems...I said I have had zero issues and 99% of my clients have had zero issues and when they do it is either something they did to break Windows or some kind of hardware/software issue that is unrelated to Vista...
If you google around you can find more comparisons...its more like 50% of the time...if you compare all the tests XP and Vista end up being about the same...there isn't a single test where vista is spanked by xp...
Blah blah blah...when will the "Vista Sucks" argument end? Vista sucks just as bad as XP did when it first came out, remember all the issues? Probably not...I guess it is Microsoft's fault that Vista was put on systems that didn't hardly meet the system requirements ...the rants about Vista could be said about any operating system on subpar hardware...
I've been using Vista since its release and have had 0 (ZERO) issues with it other than a few driver issues that are not even Microsoft's fault. Stop blaming Microsoft for other people's problems. Do your homework before you go blaming Vista for problems that hardware manufactures caused...Microsoft want's to avoid that with windows 7 and that's why they already rolled out the 'guidelines' for manufactures drivers and software...
If you did your homework you'd find that Vista is actually faster (it may be marginal, but it is still faster) than XP when it comes to a lot of stuff...including gaming...so there goes the argument of 'Vista is slow', right out the window...
Anyways...
PPU would be awesome for cones and other obsticles...and that's about it...maybe the flags...
Multi-Core would give a larger benefit over a PPU in LFS. PPU is just too restrictive as far as what can be done...it will thrive in other generes of games but I don't think it ever will take off in the simulation market...
so...by me taking my cheap pick-up and dropping a 450HP LS2 into it...that makes me a ricer? taking something slow and making it fast makes you a ricer? if no one did that we'd all be driving around in briggs and stratton powered golf carts...because, after all, who wants or needs to go fast?
you're logic sucks...anyone who goes out and buys a cheap, 'crappy' foxbody mustang and drops a little money into it is a ricer, even if it runs 11s in the 1/4 mile? your logic says that anyone who does anything to a car unless it is deemed a 'super car' or meets some magical level where it is acceptable to work on is a ricer...
