Quote from atledreier :As long as your ports are directed to the correct IP that shouldn't matter at all.

Thanks again,
When searching google for this problem I found one person having the same problem but it was all in German and I don't think he got a reply as he wasn't quoted further on.
I'm giving up for the night I'll have another go tomorrow.

Quote from atledreier :Got a long list of cars? There was an issue with the server init string getting too long with many cars in the list, dunno if they fixed that yet. Try with one car, just to be sure.

I had 3 clients with one car. I then changed it to two cars still no luck.

When I get sent back to the booking part I can't change cars or cancel the booking.

Thanks for your help atledreier.

Does a static IP play a big part in things?

Quote from atledreier :Make sure both ports are opened and routed to your server. I tried with HTTP port at the default but that didn't work. Set the ports to some higher number (think I use 9700 and 8600 (UDP/TCP) now) and it works like a charm.

I tried your numbers plus a few others and I still get the same message.

I have a feeling it might be in the config as the server connects ok.

Guys, I'm try the create a dedicated server and all goes well until I try to enter.

I get requesting car list timed out. After several retries I get sent back to the server list to re-enter.

Any ideas

Thanks

I see a lan button in the multi player. Does that mean I can host for my mates using something like Tunngle?

I have GT6 and the icon for the academy is located in the main menu screen. Previously it was a separate download.
I can't tell you if it's in playstation store if you don't own GT6.
The link came in the last update 1.06.
I'm not threating anyone.

Quote from Bosse :Not trying to be condescending or anything but sometimes the solution can be quite simple. Did you try to use the shifter instead of the paddles in the Lotus 49? When using a shifter AC reflects what type of shifting is used in real life so if the paddles are used in the real car, you'll use them on your wheel as well and vice versa.
If you don't want to use the shifter I believe you need to specifically select to use paddles instead/not use the H-shifter (can't remember the exact settings).

I've actually not had any issues setting my G25 up in AC and I've done it a couple of times as I've reinstalled my computer. I haven't noticed any issues except for the FFB tweaking which, as stated above, is a bit of a pain as you need to exit to the menus, make the changes, reload car and track etc. But when it's done, it's done

Since there has been no progress in LFS I moved over to GT5 and GT6 which the wheel is just plug and play. Back on the PC I'd forgot about the Logitech wingman settings and how they went and also I didn't setup the shifter as in GT I'm lazy and use the paddles. Thanks for the info and I'll work on it further.

Well I had a brief stint last night, it's not bad although I wasted most of my time setting up the G25.
First drive the paddle shifters didn't work, second time and for the best part of it no reel feedback from the wheel. After much forum reading I got things to work and got a couple of time trials in.
My night ended when I went to drive the old Lotus Type 49 and the paddles didn't work again.
I have always had issues with PC racers and setting up the wheel, none of them seem to work right from the start.
Anyway good first impressions and if I've missed something with the Lotus can someone let me know.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :With Australian internet, you might have it downloaded by S3 release.

If I go outside to the shed and pedal the bike I can get up 3.5Mb.
But I can only get that for an hour because I get too exhausted.

Australia is confirmed for the first time since 2010 so i will be participating and at this rate should easily make it.

Have you heard of a start date?

Quote from MadCat360 :You don't own anything on your computer except for content that you create.

Purchasing a game is only purchasing the right to use (license) a copy of it.

Valve cannot remove these licenses from you. That license is between you and the owner of the content. they can restrict you from using Steam services (matchmaking etc), but they can't stop you from using your games. If they ever go under (extremely unlikely at this point) you will get to keep all the licenses you purchased - most likely in the form of a publisher transfer code (for Origin, direct download, etc).

Steam going under is a good example of losing your account even though it maybe remote. I suppose what I was getting at was that if you buy a CD of a game you have the game and no one can take it away. If all the software is on your computer then that's fine.
I was thinking that the software was running from the steam cloud or something and you just had a small piece of code to access it.
One thing that I hate is when I brought Battlefield 3 it was linked to Origin and you had to login to play the game. After I had finish the game I would want to just load it and play a bit of single player stuff but I still had to login through the web interface.
I keep on forgetting my password or there were updates which delayed me from just loading it up and playing. I hope steam is not the same.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :I doubt it will be available off steam considering they plan to use Steam Workshop to distribute tracks/cars that users create.

I have had a dislike for steam when I had way back at the beginning of it life.
It may have improved a lot but is it true that if I purchase a game on steam I don't own it.
For what ever reason I may have my account stopped at all the stuff I have purchased is gone.
If that's not true then I'll give steam another go.

True, maybe they need to look at the 2 disk idea again.

All GT6 is a filler to keep their 2 titles per console running. I wouldn't be bagging it's development, it's just a bit of fun and I'm in it more for the online fun with my mates.

When GT 7 comes out that should be the title that should get some serious scrutiny as they should have more scope for development. If they can't get that console racer to something close to a PC simulator then they need to have a good look at themselves.

Quote from CoolColJ :try the low/high beam switch?

I didn't have any issues with GT6 here, whereas in GT5 I did
The race cars are also much brighter

I did flick between Hi and Low. Low beam did put a sight glow just in front but the slightest uphill and it went. I am using a hi def projector so I may lose some definition with the blacks as apposed to a TV. The light were much better around the city tracks and Bathurst was ok too. See what you think when you do National B night series.

Quote from atledreier :Or your brightness settings?

It could have been just related to that particular car but it was like the lights were set too high. They worked the best when the nose dipped under brakes.

$73 AU dollars for the 7,000,000 credits seems very steep. The 1,000,000 credits I got for the 15 anniversary edition won't go far. So there will be a lot more grinding to do which I don't mind, I've done 25% of the game and made 490,000 in credits and so far I have only brought the Fit and the Civic type R with very few mods.
I have used the bonus cars on 3 events. It will be interesting to see if there is the classic race with descent return for winning.

I did a Honda Civic type R around Willow Springs at night could see bugger all. Had to sit on the lead car until just before the main straight to see where to go. Headlights still need a lot of work.

That's something that could be cut back on. The only appeal would mostly be the American market. Oval racing bores me to tears. These are the only cars I didn't buy in GT 5.
