I thought that Bathurst was tied up legally with Ea sports and the V8 supercars Franchise, I reckon that they would want a big piece of pie to release it.
This info is only going back to past forums in Gran Turismo early days when this idea was floated around.
I did the component to VGA for my home theater and it worked a treat. The only thing I would suggest would be to use shielded lead to stop a little interference every know and then.
I downloaded the demo but I can't get it to work, it goes to load I get a black screen in the top lefthand corner and then the report the error to microsoft screen pops up.
I'm running a quad Q6600 with 3 gig of ram and a GTS 8800, my son loaded the same install on his computer that has less specs and it ran, although laggy.
Any ideas?
I've gone off the V8's, I find a lot of the racing dull. I couldn't care were they race, I'll only be glued to the race for Bathurst.
If they moved anywhere the ring would be interesting.
I would really like to see it open up to more different types of V8's to spark interest.
Sorry off topic.
To start with yes I'm an old fart, but IMO if it's not yours you don't have the right to decorate it. That’s up to the owner to decide. There was an article in our locale newspaper, there was this couple that had work hard creating their ideal home and after many years renovated their front yard and built a nice sandstone retaining wall to make the front of the house look smart, at great cost to them, within the week someone had tagged it. They were absolutely gutted. It gets down to people having a little respect for other people’s property. I've seen the council spend hundreds or thousands of dollars make some public place look brilliant only to have it look like a shit tip after a couple of weeks because there is spray paint everywhere. If the artists have been commissioned for the work fair enough, then go ahead.
I actually wear only one contact lens, I use my left eye for the reading and my right eye for distance, it's the right that has the contact. It was suggested by my optometrist, he said you train the brain and it knows what to look at. And it works. Amazing stuff.
I've worn glasses for 23 years and now I'm free
I now wear Ortho K contact lenses, you wear them at night while you sleep and take them out in the morning. It's like standard contacts but in reverse, my eyes are now like normal during the day. It cost a little bit more than glasses, but I love the freedom. It is now at the stage were I put them in every second night. If you need to now more http://www.completeeyecare.com.au/orthok.htm
Growing up in the seventies and eighties it was all around me and I never used or was ever tempted, I saw the bonging, popping of pills and the glue sniffing (addicted enough to do it during work). Although I haven't seen these people in a very long time it wouldn't surprise me if they are all dead or living a very poor quality of life. With everything out there trying to shorten life why push to make it happen faster, people live their own life and can do with it what they want. But why burden the health system unnecessary, self inflicted sickness either now or down the track can't be a good thing. Also think about the innocent bystanders who passively get exposed. Sorry as you can tell I'm a goodie two shoes. I'll get of my soapbox now.
If you have a couple of PC's in the house, use it as a home server. Plug a NAS drive in for more storage and install Microsoft home server to look after it. It has a built in battery so if the power goes off it has it's own UPS and everything is accesssed by remote so you don't need the screen.
Just a thought.
Ok! I'm jealous in Aus you have to sell a kidney and maybe some other organ to buy anything thats decent. We get bombarded with American TV and movies hence why we think the grass is always greener elsewhere.
I don't know what the exchange rate is but when I watch 5th gear or top gear cars seem cheaper in the UK.
I've never owned a new car, could never afford it and the most expensive car I've bought is my 1991 Diesel Hilux at $20,000 in 1994.
My car history:
Holden Gemini 1976
Willys Jeep 1942
Toyota Hilux 1991
That's over 30 years of driving.
If I can inclued the cars I married into
Nisssan Pulsar 1985
Nissan Micra 1995
I think if you can achieve you your passion in life good on you, I'd love to own a WRX Impreza STI but I can't see it happening but if the lotto comes around look out.
I love Bathurst, over the last week I've been watching highlights from 1963 to 2001 to get the juices flowing and I must say today’s race is a far cry from the early days. It only got exciting in the final laps and I think I nodded off somewhere in the middle. They need to do something to spice it up, in the days gone by you had a full grid and plenty of things going on if you don't want slower cars mixed in the field they should include other V8's of other makers and keep the specs the same. This would add interest from more parties and boost the racing financially. Ford and Holden are struggling with the cost as seen by Ford cutting back after 2009, don't get me wrong I love the Great Race and a Holden fan but I think it's time for change. But that's just my opinion.
Just got back from Bathurst yesterday and everything is in full swing, also I think I now hold the fastest lap time in a diesel Hilux 12 mins 40 secs
But remember the speed limit is only 60 Km/h. With 400,000 k on the clock I think the poor old diesel has seen better days had to drop down to 2nd gear going up mountain straight. Great fun though
It's been 20 years since I was in Melbourne but I liked hanging rock if your into a bit of bush walking. All the other spots already listed are good. If you get a chance Camberra might be worth a look as the nations capital and I've always like the war museam if your into that sort of stuff. I've done the outback tour and you would need 5 weeks to do the whirlwind tour of it, too big to drive in a short space of time. Blue Mountains are nice in NSW. Bathurst is on Oct 9-12 if your still around otherwise while your in NSW go drive the track it's a normal road most of the year, but watch out for the boys in blue.
Victoria is a nice compact state and you can do alot of day trips, and if you going to go to a zoo I'd pick Sydney as the best but it's been awhile since I've been south.
Almost forgot the Fairy penguins at Phillip Island that good to see too.
You'll have a ball and if you ever get to do it again make it Queensland
Ditto, I'm getting the same issue although I'm on a vista laptop. I can ping and trace with no problems, server set up on my router. I was able to connect for a short time until I change a setting for tracks in DEDIGUI and now the same thing as 'justingt5'. So it did work at some stange and all I did was change Blackwood to SO1. I'll restart from scratch again today but I'll be interested in the responses for 'justingt5'.
Success.
Had to close windows firewall, even though it had the setting to allow. Unless I missed something, Vista and its security is a pain in the prostate.
It's taking me little bit to get used to, I got into the bad habbit of left foot braking and as a result I keep on pressing on the clutch to brake
But the wheel has a much better feel about it than the DFP, the feedback to the wheels more precise, and the quality and firmness of the pedals are a big improvement.
At the moment my times are slower, but this is due to the learning of wheel, I've only done about 5 hours with it and most of that is in single player as I don't want to get a rep as a wrecker
Also I've gone into rfactor, (don't laugh) and to my amaziment the G25 is very suited to this game and I've been having some fun there again just single player driving Bathurst and 'The Ring' you don't seem to have the lack of feel in rfacor as I did with the DFP.
If you need to replace you wheel and can afford the extra cash it's seems at this early stage well worth it.
