Ditto, I'm getting the same issue although I'm on a vista laptop. I can ping and trace with no problems, server set up on my router. I was able to connect for a short time until I change a setting for tracks in DEDIGUI and now the same thing as 'justingt5'. So it did work at some stange and all I did was change Blackwood to SO1. I'll restart from scratch again today but I'll be interested in the responses for 'justingt5'.
Success.
Had to close windows firewall, even though it had the setting to allow. Unless I missed something, Vista and its security is a pain in the prostate.
It's taking me little bit to get used to, I got into the bad habbit of left foot braking and as a result I keep on pressing on the clutch to brake
But the wheel has a much better feel about it than the DFP, the feedback to the wheels more precise, and the quality and firmness of the pedals are a big improvement.
At the moment my times are slower, but this is due to the learning of wheel, I've only done about 5 hours with it and most of that is in single player as I don't want to get a rep as a wrecker
Also I've gone into rfactor, (don't laugh) and to my amaziment the G25 is very suited to this game and I've been having some fun there again just single player driving Bathurst and 'The Ring' you don't seem to have the lack of feel in rfacor as I did with the DFP.
If you need to replace you wheel and can afford the extra cash it's seems at this early stage well worth it.
Hi all, I need a little assistance, I've just brought the G25 wheel to update my faithful DFP and I'm getting a message to do with the axes. Here what comes up: "CreateEffect failed (1 axes) Could not set up FF steer device" It seems I'm not getting feed back when on the bumpy bits of the track but there is force on the wheel, meaning it's not limp when turning. Before you go into the profiler bits and pieces I've double checked all the settings and carried over my DFP setup. I'm using the latest drivers 5.02 and there were no issues on the DFP with these drivers and patch Z. It appears to be within LFS in the controller page and the game is not recognising something. Thanks for any assistance.
Interesting subject, I've been driving for 30 years and in that time I've had 2 accidents involving other cars and rolled my car once and lucky I'm still kicking. But all those incidents were under 25, I think when your young it could be more a case of over confident and maybe a lack of awareness to what is going on around you. I'm not a granny driver I still like my speed but I think my judgement is better and I see what’s happening around me better. My son has just turned 17 and is going through his learning process at the moment and he has to have his learners for 12 months and clock 100 hours behind the wheel, I think this a good thing as he can get more experience while under supervision. I think his developing into a capable driver and his execution of the controls is good but his awareness of what happening in front of him needs to improve a lot. So I suppose my point is that it could be more about how you handle on what’s going on around you more than being a bad driver.
I have just reloaded rfactor back on my pc, and I think the biggest problem with the game is you can't just jump in and drive and enjoy it.
Without mods and a lot of tweaking to get some feel and feedback this game becomes a chore.
There's a lot of people out there that don't have the patience to frig around with a wheel's ini file or and mods to make the game work well. LFS is a hell of a lot better in this respect. I have a mate who isn't into computers and love his racing but he would have thrown his wheel through the monitor in the first 5 mins if he had to setup this game. IMO they should have got the hands on right so you could enjoy the drive straight out of the box. This is the only grumble I have about the game.
Hi all is there a rule of thumb in setting up the gearing with the 45% restriction on the car. I seem to be just a couple of seconds off the fastest pace, the overall feel of the car is good in the handling department but the gearing doesn't feel smooth especially in down shifting. Any ideas on how to approach the problem, I tried Bob's setup program but get a little lost in the technical stuff. Thx
Hope this is the right place to post. On the CTRA Single Seater 1 tonight I was racing and came 2nd, but when the points came up I was 4th and Rexology was 2nd behind emil who was 1st. The thing is Rexology didn't finish the race he was out and disconnected in lap 1. So it's got him 9 pts for nothing. I didn't get a screen shot but I did save the replay if needed. The thing also is that I didn't know what points I was on before the race to see if it was just a screen glitch and I got the right points or if I've missed out. It's not such a big deal, but if it's coding error the admins may want to check.
Thx
I see snoring snoopy has posted a screen capture in the bugs and fixes section, thanks.
The one thing I agree on is there has been a decline on australian servers for racing. The drift scene seems to gaining momentum with plenty of people doing their thing. And although I can get away with racing in 200-300 ping servers I do get a little laggy which must hinder the fellow racers. When I first come on the LFS scene there was at least 10 or so servers, now I'll be lucky to get 2 or 3 for racing. I'll still love the game but it would be nice to have more home grown racing. And credit for those that can drift, because I can't and don't wish to, but I would like to see things turn around and have the drifters disappear and the racing grow.
I don't want to upset the drifters, the last comment was tougue in cheek.
Here's my report. DFP and logitech 2.4 joystick connected to xp pc.
driving the FBM at blackwood I get trouble shifting up from 4th gear up and cannot get it into 6th using the paddles on the wheel. the car red lines and it takes a couple of tries to get it the shift up from 3rd to 4th and the same from then on. Down shifting is not a problem as with the rest of the controls. Took out the FOX and no problems at all. Back to the FBM and shifting up is still there. I haven't tried it with the flight stick disconneted to see if this is upsetting things.
Can I recommend rFactor? No. I gave this game a fair go be it only in off line mode, but the feed back to the wheel was very poor I spent a week and a lot of forum searching plus downloads to try and get the wheel to feel right with no luck. Then when going back to LFS it took awhile to tweak my setting back to the way they were. Apart from that it could have been a lot of fun, so maybe it's just me but it was just to much hard work to make it work.
Australian Rules all the way, and as one eyed Western Bulldogs fan you'll find. I used to like Soccer many years ago and enjoyed the english league we got on television late at night in the 80's. But now days I can't stand the woosies that fall over holding their leg when a gust of wind goes by, so it lost it for me and the hooligans don't give it a good name either. we don't have any high fences around our ovals. As for the grid iron, well it's like chess on grass. too slow too boring. Sorry guy's but I did say I was one eyed. But I do like sporting movies about any football.
Played it today, very pretty. I had fun shooting crabs under the water and watching them float to the surface. But on a serious note, I always play games on the hardest level, and these buggers are hard to kill. I was point blank range with a semi-auto and it took 2 or 3 direct shots to the head to kill him, they must all be wearing body armour because the suckers won't stay down. Maybe it's the demo but also had some graphic glitiches while playing, and what's with the 2 dudes in the single toilet that jumped out at me, I was scared I was gunna be bitch slapped. So I empited a mag into them to keep them at bay. It was a lot of fun but I think my money will go to COD 4.
I run a Quad 6600 with the 320mb 8800 gts, I get around 160-180 fps with a grid of about 8-12 cars I don't think I've raced in anythink bigger since I upgraded. This is just of the top of my head as I was getting 30 fps with my old P4 2.8 with the same sort of cars, also with the old system if I had a full grid of AI cars I would get 1-2 fps, so I'm very happy. Thats with all the eye candy on max with the new setup. Interesting to note how the frames can drop in spots around the track, must be the added details.
Go Holden, but wouldn't be nice to have toyota v8's. BMW v8 keep the v8 supercars but some varity would be nice it's getting hard to tell the difference between holdens and Fords now days..LOL
If I go back to the dark ages, pole position on the Atari. Then something like it on Intelevision, Then it got serious with playstation one and GT. Many other racing titles came with PS1 but GT couldn't be beaten, I went right though the GT series and I had to buy a PS2 to keep it going but at GT4 it had lost something. Useless gimmicks using up memory space that could have been used for better racing. And from there I tried many PC demos and then stumbled on LFS and haven't found anything yet to beat it and I have tried the other titles out there but they lack the ease of use and the feel back to the wheel. Bring on S3, and I'll be glued to the screen for Bathurst.
Hi, I have just had a go at rfactor and it could be a lot of fun but for my DFP, it's hard to use. The visuals don't sync, with all the F buttons off it seems as though steering assist is still on, has a strange loose floaty feel around the centre position and you can't use wingman to assign the buttons. if some could post a fix for this it would be great as I'm not to flash on modifing ini files.
LFS was so much easier with the hardware. At the moment there's no driving pleasure.
Help please.
I like the jump start penalty in the new patch but after just racing with a large grid I can see a downside to it.
The car behind me had a falsh start and cannoned into me and I then had the misfourtune in having to pit for a jump start which I didn't do. Hence my race of 10 laps was over before it began. I don't blame the racer as these things happen but it would be nice if I didn't have pay the price as well.
Anyway love the new patch keep up the good work
SD, the desktop display is 1920x1200 @ 60hz. The display adapter will let me select a resolution up tp 2048x1536. Also note the the graphics card is a second hand workstation card for CAD work and not a dedicated gaming card with the 9500 chipset on board.
Word. specs on my card of the net indicate that this card has Dual DVI-I supports any combination of digital and analog displays.
But please I'm happy with what I have at the moment so close the thread unless someone else has a simular problem, and I will be upgrading soon.
SD, the monitor is a Sumsung 240T. I got it second hand without any extras. downloaded the latest drivers from Samsung when I install it. The monitor is around 5 years old but the display is still very good, after clicking a few options in CCC I now have my desktop running at 1920x1200 @ 75hz 32 bit, but LFS will still only default to 1024x768 @ 75hz with the max being 1280x1024 @ 60hz. Now the good thing is that my desktop doesn't change when I go out of the game, this is using the digital cable. If I was using the analog signal there's no problem in game and out.
Devil, I appreciateyour efforts but don't take up too much of your time on this, unless you enjoy the challenge
