Does BBC cover practice sessions online? If so, where? (If you want to go on about geoblocking, don't bother as I already know what it is)

A few years back you could watch all the races (not quali and practice) free live.

Then you could watch all the races live on two channels simultaneously and quali / praccy on Eurosport. (though Eurosport in terrestrial isn't a free channel, you have to have some kind of a pay channel package for that).

Now I'm not sure if you can watch anything but MotoGP and that's on a pay channel that used to be a free channel but isn't / wasn't any of the free channels that had MotoGP in the past because those channel are/was still free.

LFS Broadcast overlay (F1-style race classification)

Hi ho. I've accidentally done something that might be of interest.

LFS Broadcast overlay (see attached pic) is quite simple really: It's an F1-style overlay with the current race order and gaps.

You can download it at:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16059823/LFS_overlay.zip

A quick FAQ:
How do I run this?
- See README-file. I've also copied it here below.

It doesn't work with fraps / procaster / full screen?
- Unfortunately no. This is because all of the above are / would require me to do a direct x hack which this is not. If you want to capture something I suggest you use either Windows media encoder (built-in screencapture) or Flash media encoder ( You might also like to see this screencapture driver:http://www.splitmedialabs.com/vh-video-sdk/vh-screen-capture)

The timing is not correct?
- Short answer: I know.
- Long answer: It is correct. It's just not the latest split time.

I'd like to suggest feature xxx you could implement...
- By all means. I might ignore it though. I have a long list of stuff that's still missing, it's far from ready (quite obviously).

So why publish something that is not finished?
- You're in the wrong forum for that question mate.

Quote from README.txt :This program is run by opening 'overlay1.exe'-file, which
is included in the exe.win32-2.7 folder.

The program will then ask you to input an insim port. Therefore
you must at this point open Live for Speed, and type
'/insim xxxxx' to the ingame chat, where xxxxx is your desired
port number. Any port will do, I suggest you use either
32300 or 29999. THIS PROGRAM MUST BE RUN LOCALLY, even though
you can connect it to a remote host.

Then insert the same port you enabled in LFS in the command prompt
window. A "insim TCP: F1 overlay" -message will appear in LFS. The
program is now running. Just wait for it now

Additionally, there is a file called "config.txt" where you can
configure the position of the overlay window. Instructions are included
in that same file.

You may not copy, redistribute, sell or masturbate to this program.
If the program is broken, you can keep all the pieces.

Happy Christmas.

Quote from Cornys :I am not familiar with the service in Norway, but I'm going to assume that, like in most places, you are required to serve in the military at some point in your life? For somebody like you I could see this being difficult

EDIT: I might have missread something here initially...

anyway

Quote from Swiss-Spirit :Sadly, for Germany, Eurosport didn't want to continue and it's now on Sport1.

Wrong, Dorna didn't want to continue with Eurosport... Their coverage overall was too wide so instead Dorna preferred local tv stations which presumably means more money for them.

Quote from Torben :And then they are not even adminned?

Actually, and I'm ashamed to admit it, that is partly my fault:

When this 'service' started a year or two ago, before it was marketed on tv, Victor posted the news here. So a lot of LFS forum regulars, including me, checked it out. Then after trying it out, I noticed how all the names in the connection list are yellow. Everyone was connected with the admin password. Of course because most people using the 'service' were complete lfsn00bs no one naturally knew how to exploit this.

Then I was a bit of a twat and told Vic to tell them to stop having everyone connected with the admin password.

There was a math party, and all the functions were invited; the exponential function was alone in the corner, so sinx came to it and said:

- Why are you alone? Come and integrate with us.

The e^x said:

- What for? It would be the same, anyway...

On a more serious note (which is doomed here), by using L'Hospital's rule you can "divide" by zero if the divisor is zero or infinite.

Quote from boothy :You cannot use hamachi with LFS as it does not support the IP addresses hamachi uses.

Then howcome in the same thread

Quote from breadfan : I play LFS with my friends over Hamachi, because we want to have a private server and none of us has a public IP, so we are forced to create a VPN, where we have our own unique IPs. The LFS played is either S2 or demo, no cracks involved.

Can I give an opinion: I find the 6 race rotation way too short too. However I could live with it if the combo doesn't suck arse like yesterday. Don't get me wrong, it's been a long since I've actually even played lfs but doing laps with xfg/xrg or tbo around so long or ky long is as interesting as the inside of a cucumber. The longest tracks don't mix with the slowest cars. Secondly there were literally no setups available in sg so it was all a bit meh. After all pickup racing shouldn't depend on your ability to fine tune a setup over a week (which wouldn't even be possible because the track would have changed over 60 000 times in that time).

I know some people like tbo or gti even on the longer tracks. I personally don't really like the slow cars and I hate tbo with great passion but on shorter circuits it would have been a bit more bearable. So can you please either ditch the long tracks in whole or return junior ngt or gt2. Please?
