You could just turn damage off. The engine damage is really slow at the limiter so you can easily do many laps before your engine goes kaput. Auto lift.. no boris
All modern physics engines can do very good job if you put in the correct numbers. As far as suspension design goes lfs is probably the least advanced of them all. I remember reading something about how lfs suspensions only work in 2d but I don't remember what was it exactly. I think lfs suspension supports stuff like antidives and kingpin offsets along with complex bumpsteers and caster changes so maybe I'm just imagining things.
As for box physics you can make 3 wheel cars in ac and it works pretty much without any issues. While ac doesn't support 3 wheeled cars and asymmetric suspensions it still allows asymmetric cars to be created as long as the suspension arms are identical on both sides. I'd imagine motorbikes is possible too although I don't know if the rotational inertia of the tires is modelled in ac. But we all remember nkbike .
LFS had visual tire flex when others didn't. All car sims have had flex but not visual flex.
That box is just an illustration of how ac handles the car body inertias. Tires have their own weight and rotational inertias as well but it doesn't go as deep and complex as rf where you can have inertia values for all parts I think.
The problem with ac is that instead of allowing users to directly write the car body inertias in the files they use this strange box which is used to roughly describe the car dimensions for the inertia calculations. A box itself is easy to solve and convert into inertias but there is some kind of multiplier or set of multipliers that makes it really difficult to use the real inertia values if you have those.
Marussia did finish ahead of sauber so it is not exactly sensible thing to let marussia to drive last years car with cheaper costs and maybe little performance benefit of that last year's nose compared to sauber...
Banned for week, lol seriously? That's not a punishment. That's not even a slap on the wrists. At least I would have expected him to give back all his donations to even consider letting him come back.
Yeah, I watched that progress and thought that speed can't be real. But I kinda assumed he was not building the models from 0 but was taking some of his old models and just adding details. Not just flatout ripping from other games and asking for donations at the same time...
My assetto folder is 36gt and I don't really have that many mods... or so I thought .
As for mods the 10% that are good totally make up for the 90% that are not imho. I'd say rfactor+gtl is already worth it for the historix mod alone. Hell, I'd say that rf+gtl is already worth it alone just for the trans-am cars.
For whatever reason I did not try that truck mod (volvo fh thingy) earlier but I just did some laps around imola in it. Great fun. Only the ffb needs some work as it is only a heavy center spring but I liked it so much I'm considering dropping the lx8 and do some truck racing mod instead.
I think one important thing is that real circuits have certain inaccuracies which add character. Little changes in camber, slight "non roundness" of the corner arcs etc. Some fictious tracks have perfectly round corners and undulations. Also many fictious tracks don't have any bumps modelled in the surface which takes away lots of character imho.
Great skin. There is also a wheel painting template in the ac thread. Just don't use the mask layer of that template. It makes the holes on the wheels appear as if you were looking through the car.
fml. For some reason yesterday I have decided to delete tyres.ini, suspension.ini and car.ini. So now I need to make all those changes again I made yesterday.
But who cares. All the important stuff is right here in this image:
