Quote from Hahmo :
You can't see the letters unless you look at the keyboard from an angle, but I'm such a nerd I never look at the keyboard when I type so the letters are quite useless in the first place..

I also bought myself an Arctosa for Christmas as my existing Lenovo one was starting to play up.

The keys are pretty much impossible to see (gloss-black on matt-black is a terrible idea), but i'm hoping that it'll give me the Das Keyboard effect (can't see? Don't look - you'll type faster).

Not sure I like it atm...

LFS supports pretty much any resolution your graphics card does, so yes.

Quote from TehKill3r :Am I the only one or is nHancer not booting (properly)? All it does for me is show a splash-logo, and boot a service. I don't get any UI to work with.

Everything in this guide is probably unfortunately deprecated - afaik all the display driver control panels now have all this stuff built in (and it works).

Quote from Scrabby :Nope! Never really cared tbh, but it's only 15 minutes from me and 85€ for 3 runs so why not

85€ seems quite expensive - I normally pay about £30-£35!

Acronis yet again didn't work. Does Drive Clone Pro let me schedule it automatically?

Quote from Ni-san :Nope. Shipping costs around 12€.

That camera seems pretty light. Won't it vibrate a lot when driving?

Its all in the mount - I have a couple of fancy suction mounts and they don't vibrate at all.

I want a fancy dashcam but my £40 Chinese cheapies do the job

My 2011 13" MacBook Pro won't boot.

Press the button, CD drive grinds away, screen lights up, but I don't get the Apple logo or the chime.

Any ideas?

It's 3 months old so I'll be taking it to the Apple store on Thursday (no idea what they will want to do with it)

Quote from pb32000 :That doesn't sound too painful :P

It is when the "running total" for a month is hundreds and hundreds of pounds... or when the overall amount of fuel spent is more than you paid for the car...

Quote from nikopdr :Holy shit 24mpg on a focus, how can you actually pull that off?

Regards,
Focus 1.6L 33-35mpg master race

I'm guessing:

A - A Euro focus isn't a US Focus (and even if they are - I think the engines may well have some smog-emissions bullshit)
B - US gallons.

EDIT - To add something useful. About 44MPG, rising to 50 if conditions allow.

Quote from Migz :I had no clue wtf digital wiring was so i just ignored that. But he also mentioned other 0 awg needed. So i assumed adding a few runs from front to back is what he meant.

10 runs (no-one ever uses that much ever) of 0AWG would still be easily less than £500.

I'm sure £10k is doable with some of the crazy walled installs I've seen, but not necessarily easy with a "simple" box in the boot unless you start buying some ridiculously expensive amps.

Quote from Migz :How so? He's got a point, those things can add up to quite a bit. I don't think its anywhere near 10k, but what he mentions can end up pretty expensive.

Things like "digital wiring" & the big three (a few small runs of 0AWG costs virtually nothing!)

An image could be a workable solution - i've just had some really poor experiences with CloneZilla making images but being unable to restore them!

Quote from Bose321 :Actually it does (for those that support it).

But it's not relevant since you use 7.

The problem is I don't want some or a few of my apps backed up - I want the lot. And also things like my registry tweaks etc.

(I'm planning to upgrade to 8 at some point - it's on my laptop already and I have a spare key)

I thought that cloning software would be the the way to go but I've had trouble with Acronis before. I'll try the DriveClone software.

Don't know why but I have some irrational fear of Windows' built in backup software (both the backup one and system restore)

Quote from Bose321 :It's called Windows 8. It stores all the settings and tells which apps you have installed. No need for an iTimemachine or whatever.

But not the settings for the apps. And I don't want a live account Windows 8 style. And i'm using 7 on my desktop.

Pre-face - It takes me several days to setup my copy of Windows, install all the software I want, get it all the different apps settings across, registry tweaks etc.

I've got a good data backup regime in place - docs + videos (i've made) + music + pictures are backed up to my Livedrive account & docs + pictures are also backed up to my laptop as well

I recently had to do an iCloud restore on my iPhone and was VERY impressed by the fact I didn't *need* to set it back up, all settings etc stayed. Based on this i'm now using Time Machine on my MacBook which seems to work ok.

I wondered if there was anything equivalent for Windows? Don't care about the data, just apps & settings...

Quote from logitekg25 :false i believe, especially if there is a charging feature going on also.

if it is charging, then there are 2 currents running on the cable instead of 1; if not charging just digital, im not sure.

also im not positive about that, but thats my local audio shop's words.

iPod can do analogue out (using it's internal DAC) or digital out (use your own DAC) charging or not.

The connectors Apple use are quite clever.

EDIT - For proof, Kenwood units like mine using the analogue out + charging, Alpine X100 / X305's do digital out (using their fancy Burr Brown DAC's) + charging.

You can't do "fast" charging (more than 500ma) when using it though (to charge more than 500ma, you need to ground the data pins - which means no data obviously!)

Quote from lukelfs :So rather than making a new thread I thought I'd ask here, I'm after a fast but reliable SSD. What SSD's would you recommend in 60, 120 and 256 GB sizes?

I've read about the Sandforce controllers being unreliable etc. Could anyone help me out here

Thanks.

From what I've read, the Samsung 830 & OCZ Vertex 4 seem to be the way to go - the Samsung 840 Pro seems even faster but atm the price retailers want doesn't justify the £ (although as no-one has them in stock I wonder if the price will fall once they are
