And also for the Mini Cooper JCW, IIRC.

And honestly, I don't know if active diffs are very common IRL, so for now it's a +0. I still want to read something more about them, and find out if they are an interesting option to racing or not.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Bad idea tbh. The cars are fine as we have at the moment..being able to choose levels of "trim" would just make it more NFS than LFS.

Not really. It's like having both cars, XFG and (a possible) XFT, the same way we have the XRG and the XRT. I see no NFS in this.

and +1 to that. It'll result in new cars and way less 3d modelling time for the devs (i think).

Do you have that problem in LFS only or also in other racing games?

Yes, something like it happened in some other forum i also visit.

There was this "Newbie" and "Member" status. You start as newbie and get to member after you make 100 posts. In those days there were huge amounts of spam, because everyone wanted to be a member. I noticed cases where they were posting the same reply in different threads just to get that holy 100th post.
Then the "newbie" was removed. Everyone is a "member" now, and there is little or no spam at all.

And back on-topic, +1 to this.

Quote from Joker1 :I think that lfs should bring back XRGT Turbo back into the demo version on lfs. becuase most players prefer the turbo over the regular and most players quit playing for that same reason.

Buy the license if you want it. You won't regret it.

And speaking about license, can you believe my bad luck? I was about to buy S2, but instead i had to buy a new cell phone. In the old one, i can't hear anything from the speaker, not even people talking to me, and it was the 2nd time in 3 months that happened, so i just bought a new one. I bought a Samsung SGH E-250, and i'm very happy with it. Can use it to talk, it accepts MP3 as ringtones, and that's all i need.

What if the original modder wants to distribute it for free?

Quote from ajp71 :Did you read what I posted? Reducing downforce would if anything reduce the chance of a car taking off due to wing failure.

/me is now confused
jonny__27

Quote from ajp71 :Cars taking off at high speed is usually caused by sudden failure of aerodynamic devices through physical breakage or poor design that produce downforce on the car. Simply having no downforce or some lift won't cause cars to take off if balance is maintained, GT40s, 917s and Lotus 49s all ran at around the speed modern F1 cars do and they didn't just randomly take off when they felt like it.

Yes, i know it's not common, but the danger is still there, and the best thing to do is to avoid it as much as we can. We don't want to return to deaths in F1, or do we?

Quote from tristancliffe :1. Are you sure they'd reduce downforce to save weight? Don't you think they'd work out if more fuel onboard + more drag/downforce equals a faster race time? With less downforce they'd have lower corner speeds, and higher top speeds, meaning the cars will have to accelerate more, and perhaps use MORE fuel?

What about the drag? Ain't it the key factor in aerodynamics to fuel consumption?

Quote from tristancliffe :2. Since when has more downforce equated with more safety?

Since the first time i saw a racing car "takeoff", and with those amounts of speed and little weight, i am a bit concerned about this.

Quote from tristancliffe :3. Do you know what you talking about?

I guess i am.

Quote from Becky Rose :In fairness young drivers are not Portugal's biggest problem on the roads, it's every single one of you insane nutters!

I remember being driven from the port to the airport in Lisbon by taxi and the driver was tooting his horn at an army truck, full of guys with guns, because he wanted to skip the red light we where sat at.

Never. Ever. Again.

hehe, our taxi drivers but well that's a standard for most of them here.

but there's something worse than us. My father went to Romania on work last week, and he said that in Bucharest the red light is the only traffic rule respected. STOP signs, speed limits, road markings, and all the rest is ignored. (at least is what he said)

Quote from LewX :Ah ok i think i might have been reading, "...performs like a 2.6L." Anyway on the topic of rotary's.

http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/08/next-gen-rx-8-g.html

EDIT: Another question - would it be possible to make a rotary that runs on diesel?

That RX8 Hydrogen RE isn't the one that can run either with gas or hydrogen?

But i think they forgot to mention that in hydrogen mode the power drops from 228hp to 110hp (unless they improved it already).

About the diesel, from what i found, it's possible, but very very expensive.
jonny__27

Quote from LewX :Yeh, isn't it a 2.6L because it has 2 rotors?

Actually i think they are 2 rotors, 650cc each, which perform the 1.3L together, but my memory isn't as good as it was, so i might be wrong.
Forum suggestion - New section

Since this is a racing simulator, i assume most of the racers here are car lovers like me, so i suggest the creation of a new section, about cars and automotives in general.
Yes, we have a similar section already, but that one is for racing only. I'm thinking on this new one, for instance to talk about the latest releases, reviews of cars we tested, and to ask questions we have about, for example, problems in our cars, among a few other subjects.

I have those reviews on videotape

and to ban refuelling in F1 it's a +1
In my point of view, it would add a little more strategy to the races. when to attack, when to run slower and save fuel, and such. but maintaining the pit stops for tyres.
one thing bothers me though. in order to save fuel, teams will surely reduce the cars' downforce, and in that case, will they still be safe?
