Dude, Scawen, release the karts! You're not going to hurt your customer base by doing that. Everyone that is going to leave because of content drought has already done so. the remainder would be elated to see some sort of content. The fact that that content will continue improving is another reason to stick around.
I've been a member of this community for 13 almost 14 years. After coming back I went and bought Assetto Corsa, because it has CONTENT to play. S3 just doesn't have that. When it does I'll purchase.
DP-1 was another car deal they let rot on the vine. waiting on the new tire physics seems silly since the new tire model should use similar variables between vehicles, especially with itterative simulation.
In the interest of variety and adding more types of venues, I humbly suggest adding a pair of football like stadiums to South City, one with dirt field, the other with asphalt, with access in and out via tunnel. Similar stadiums have been used as part of rally stages and rallycross courses at the X games, as well as Race of Champions. They would make excellent autocross layout spaces, for more compact asphalt races, similar to the autox races of old, as well as providing something that hasn't really existed in the game yet: A dirt autocross field. Additionally, the large parking lots surrounding arenas and sports venues often host autocross events.
Scawen, it's a good experiment, exponentially expanding the content already present in the game. I love the technology of this game, I just wish the new content came at a rate that didn't let the game become stale. Staleness kills fanbases.
Old thread I know. But wouldn't it be possible to make a 2d virtual mirror using outsim data? You can get the frontal views of the cars from the skins folder, use outsim data to figure out angles and distances. Scale for distance like an old 16 bit game... Or use unity
Just a couple pieces of extra asphalt that if added to Kyoto would provide some opportunities for different course configs, including a couple shorter "club" configurations. Hopefully in the graphic update. Pic attached
If this makes it to a patch in the next month or two I'll upgrade my licence. Also, offsets for timing on the cycle, for those who want to start a race in the day time in any place other than Europe
I suppose the fact that I've been burned a few times in that 10+ years would provide some context for my reticence. However I will definitely say that I've been enjoying some of the AX layouts and custom configurations the last couple days. Especially dusting off a GT-Cadet restricted XFR and driving some of the ultra short course configs. Gets the wheels turning on series ideas.
I AM however starting to look into a DIY Simpit, using my Driving Force GT. Have any really good OutGuage apps come out? Repurpose a tablet into a dash?
That's pretty much what I've been thinking. This year has been the year of me getting burned on projects I've backed. I'll buy in when the content is there.
Seriously though, a new car that would give some new flavor of racing would do it though.
To an extent, you're right to do so. If those new tracks appear, I'm totally down to upgrade my license. Was kinda hoping they would have some new flavor of car by now. Like an LMP, Daytona Prototype, Formula Ford, Cup Car... I dunno, just some new wrinkle. Hell at one time I even was exchanging emails with the maker of the DP-1 and had secured permissions for the team. nothing came of it.
Oh? "Old" Blackwood was already a thing of the past when I was playing. Has there been a second major revision?
MOMENTS LATER: Ah, I see the have expanded the off track facilities. Can't wait til they do the same with Aston. At one time I batted around the idea of an Aston Festival of Speed with Layout made rally stages and multiple days of events. With a whole surrounding environment, that would be amazing.
I'd have to wait till I get hands on with the game again before I decided if I wanted to donate. Hope the game has come a long way in the 10 years i've been away
Yes, I can see WHAT the content is. My question pertains to the value of said content. Especially in light of the fact that open autocross layouts are a thing that's new since I left the scene.
Is there enough content in the Rockingham raceway to be worth an additional 12 GBP when I've already got the other two liscence levels? Or does Rockingham add as much value as either of the previous two levels?
I would support something like this as a server-side tool for leagues, but not as a per-car adjustable item. And i justify this statement with the idea of changing Engine specs for leagues, and offering multiple engine specs as is done in MOE and was done in CTRA with engine air restriction. Multiclass racing without relying on engine air restriction would be well recieved if my experience and memory serves me. Not relying on intake restriction would allow league or server administrators to adjust power of a class up or down (within reason).
How this would be integrated with current setups i'm not sure, possibly by after selecting your car. This also skirts the issue that we would always end up with everyone running the same specs per-course. And in addition unless decided otherwise by the devs, only the default spec would be tracked on LFSW
Then your team manager adjusts the pit stop settings accordingly, while you concentrate of getting the car back to the pits in one piece.
The problem you just described it more descriptive of removing the f-12 menu and making the players set pit strategy pre-race, not of having another player able to cooperate with you and adjust the strategy while you concentrate on driving.
