Thanks for the advice dude. I finally shot my vote next to the 4th generation Intel along with an Asus Z87-k. I hope that will last some time for me.

but i still want to agree that LFS needs to put a priority on what will affect our online races.

Any implementation will affect our online races. Except for the new language packs, of course.

I would just show that gif to anybody that mentions fully arcade in my presence about Assetto Corsa. It's like a gentle way of a punch in the face.

The proper way of setting the FFB up is still setting the Gain to a desired level, and if it clips then softly start reducing Gain until the clipping is gone, vice-versa. Those settings seem pretty useless in my mind. The effects are pretty nice though.

Dampening has a hard impact on how the wheel feels when you go off-road. The more damping you have, the softer the wheel becomes in gravel.
Help me choose :)

Hey there guys!

I've recently opened a discussion in which I got to a conclusion that I should make a more future proof upgrade to my PC, that gets more value out of my pocket.

I've came to the SURE upgrade path of

FSP Raider 650W
Corsair 8GB Vengeance Low Profile DDR3 1600MHz CL9 KIT

The questionable part comes now:
i5 3570k
ASRock Z77 Pro3/4

The other one:
i5 4670k
ASRock Z87 Pro3

I am not dedicated to ASRock as a brand, I just chose those because I think they are the best bang for the buck currently with those chipsets. If you can recommend an Asus or such that you think is worth the value and is around the same price, go on

Fact: I am not upgrading my PC all so often, so that is one thing to keep in mind. I'm not sure how long lifespan sockets do have, but knowing the 1150 is newer, it might have a longer future. At some point, both might be dead by the team I come to upgrade my PC again. So after all the 4670k has better pure performance without OC, the 3570k overclocks better though. I'm not a hardcore OC-er though, so that might be the edge of decision.

I hope you can help me to get on my path for a better PC

Hey there guys!

I've recently been informed about this piece of software.
http://www.quantum-rush.net/

I might not have the time to play much and test it throughoutly, but I received a beta-key to access, so if someone thinks he is dedicated enough to test the game and help the developers, just message me

Keep in my I only have 1 beta key.

Well, I know it's your personal preference, but I'd rather set the Kerb effects high and the road effects lower. Those microbumps from laserscanned tracks kill my FFB on straights. Feels awkard really, not sure if it's cause of my 90% Gain though.

I've already upgraded my video card all so recently, and I guess the current CPU is bottlenecking it a little too hard.

Thanks for all the answers guys. Now I'm really considering a full PC upgrade, with i5 3570, because I actually have the budget for it, I wasn't just sure that I want to spend all that money on a whole new config. Thinking about it, the Quad Core would be something I'd get rid of in matter of months, or a year though, so upgrading to an outdated hardware might not be the best option after all.

I also thought these heatsinks are all the same, and looks like I'm not alone then. I'm running this one for years with the E6300 now, and I didn't notice the loudness really. But I guess a Q6600 or a Q8400 for 50 EUR is a bargain for a temporaily upgrade. At some point I will just sell the whole rig and get something from ground.

Heatsinks aren't expensive indeed, if it has problems it's not a fuss to upgrade. Anyways, how about the Q6600 or Q8400 in comparision? I mean they cost the same currently. How are they for gaming?

Hey there!

I have an OEM fan for a E6300 @ 2,8GHz. Would it operate with a Q6600, or that's just a stupid as hell idea from me? If so, would I notice extreme high temperatures?

Quote from Töki (HUN) :I also hate idiots overtaking 1km/h faster in the inside lane. Or when they see you coming much faster, yet they start overtaking and you have to slam the brakes.. and of course they still maintain granny speed. If you cut me then at least floor that damn throttle instead of keeping me up for ages. Duh, it's not exactly rocket science. And I'm one of the patient ones... But I guess it needs no explanation, everyone had a situation like this.

I'm not sure if it's exclusive, but yea those Hungarian roads... I can't take the motorway without being cut off at least 10-15 times on the way by cars 30kmh slower than the speed limit. I guess that's the general "fck traffic" attitude, which is far from common sense.

My 5 year old PC can run AC on low graphics decently, even with AI. I was going low-budget at that time, so I don't think wealth would really restrict the fame of Assetto Corsa. If someone doesn't have a PC that can run anything above LFS, that is probably not intending to play videogames at all.

Well, you can compare the FZR and 458 as they are the same engine layout. They handle pretty similarly, unless you start driving an FZR with irrealistic dampers and ARBs. They both have the understeer on entry and oversteer on exit. That's the nature of these mid engined cars, which AC has plenty of. I see that you want to be outstanding by not following the mass, but you can't deny how much more alive AC feels after playing LFS. It's a whole new level in terms of car handling. LFS feels like driving on rails after AC, maybe cause I played this for 10+ years... but I guess that's how it is for me. AC still gives a challenge to handle the car around the limit.

But as far as I can see there is a difference in preferences for a sim... good good.. different taste makes the world much more fun

I respect your enthusiasm to drive the same cars and track since 2004-2005, but I'll just fly off to have fun in Assetto Corsa, which offeres nearly more content than LFS after just a few months of being released with decent enough physics to have a comparision to LFS.

I don't see the point of linking a video with a freaking cruise driver starting turns from the inside line. Of course it will understeer, not to mention the grandma-proof default setup.

I see that you love the way LFS setups are so widely changable, but there is one thing to notice. Those settings are pretty wild, and totally far from real. I want to see you setting that many things up in a simple road car, also the irrealistic setup values in most of the cars. Just because it's faster and feels better. At least AC has drawn a limit at what you can setup in a car, in the courts of realism.

Quote from undertaker00 :ermm,no.

I don't have insight date for the sales, but I can safely say that it should be more already (not counting the demo users) than LFS. Only due to the fact that it attracts people from LFS, rFactor, iRacing, Simbin games and probably most other simulators too, making it a collective. That alone should give AC tons of playerbase, not counting newcomers.

@Boris, I always thought LFS racing was more like soap racing with those tires... You are probably either slow or driving an MRT. The thing is, you CAN'T simulate real life FFB in simulators, just cause everyone would spin around the track. You have your butt irl to help you out on that. If you don't give any response to the user from the simulator, that would be dead end. FFB is there to cover the lack of real life feelings, and not because it's a super mega realistic addition to games.

Physics aren't first, at least not when we talk in masses. rFactor 2 with it's real road feature bring a lot of attention and fun into every part of racing, and iRacing has constant competition all over the classes, even being that expensive means something. It might not be the best simulation ever, but it has something to charm that much people to keep paying for it. Same with Assetto Corsa compared to LFS. It's not as profoundly accurate, but already attracted more people in the Early Access state than LFS ever did.

On the other hand, if you can't catch a slide in rF 1/2 then you are doing something pretty wrong. All of the slides are correctable, even high slip angle ones. I agree with the iR part though.
