Sorry trebor901 but we're not accepting any new members now. I'm sorry about that though. I guess if you could get a majority vote from our members I'd have to accept you. (In other words, prove why you should be in the team )
@everyone - Our slogans now are:
"Moo Racing....Got Milk?"
"Keep it Moo.ving"
"Forget ValveTronic, VTEC and Turbooooooo, MOO POWA PWNS!!!!"
@Sketchy - we started at 6pm GMT. Maybe we could move the races to weekends to try and accommodate your time zone.
@everyone - I was supposed to be karting this weekend but that doesn't look so hopeful anymore, I think my chassis is bent
Ugh, I've just gone to setup my team and found out 130,000,000 is nowhere near enough. With Anthony Davidson, Liuzzi, BMW Sauber and Spyker Ferrari I end up with no money left.
Personally I make my own system for team or league websites. I did start making an automated league website where the admin just typed in some information in in the admin panel, clicked 'Apply' and it appeared the respective page. I need to finish it off as I'm going to use it for the website for my demo league. You are welcome to have a look at the source code if you want, just PM me.
I recently setup Moo Racing and I have created 2 skins so far. I have attempted to start others but I gave up on them and decided I was no good at skinning so I'm asking here if anyone could help me.
I have attached the images with the black spots on. It tiles perfectly and is meant for 1024x1024 skins as it creates too many spots at 2048x2048.
The main cars I need this for at the moment are the XFR and FOX, the other cars can come later. (I have skins for the FXR and FXO)
I see what you mean about getting members who can get on, not just any people who haven't even met the members but I wanted to get a small(ish) team setup and then get the team-members interacting. If any of them obviously don't fit in with everyone else it'll create tension and, I hate to say it but I will ask them to leave.
Yes, there will be another demo league in the future, maybe starting next month, I don't know, I seem to have no time at the moment. (I do really, it's just my excuse for being lazy ) I could offer the winner a place on the team but I'm not sure it some people would see it as a bad thing
1) I see what you are saying. I basically replied to this while replying to th84's post so I look up there.
2) Causing accidents and blaming other people, even if the accident was purely an accident, is still bad. The replay on the wreckers barricade is blatant wrecking and that's the reason I kicked him off the team. Thanks for telling me about him, I think I got a PM from you about him? Anyway, I'm glad he's off the team.
And lastly, this is to both of you, thanks for the advice, I have taken it in and I will use it, in fact I'll cap the number of members now, at 8. It's a start, anyway
Thanks for the concern and I see what you are saying but you are wrong with the "a post or two on a discussion forum" thing, I have spoken to them all on MSN and seen their driving on LFS. I can't keep tabs on them all the time and I'll have to accept that occasionally I will get drivers like Preston who seem all right on the surface but are/were wreckers. Preston was promptly kicked from the team when I found out he was on the wrecker's barricade. This was about an hour after he joined. I am surprised that he joined with the Moo tag and started wrecking but no team can avoid that. I assume that he had already been booted from the team at that time so he was trying to give me/us a bad name for kicking him off the team.
Of course every member of the team is liable to be booted off if I find out they have been/are a wrecker and I know that people like that would bring the reputation of the team down but I'll accept that and see where it gets me. If I end up having a one or two-man team who nobody has any respect for then I'll go about it a different way but until then I'll do it my way. If I went about it your way I would have a team all for myself for a long time, while I got to know all the members. I find it easier and more friendly if they come into the team before I start getting to know them more, it shows I trust them. Lastly, you're right, I know I need to research their history a bit more, this was something I failed to do with Preston. If I had looked up his name on the wrecker's barricade I wouldn't have let him on the team.
Oh, btw, please could you tell me when Preston came onto your server and started wrecking, I would like to know if it was while he was on the team.
And a general note to everybody reading - if you see anyone with the Moo tag wrecking then please report it to me AND the wrecker's barricade. After Preston I need to be more alert.
P.S. Thanks for the good luck
EDIT: Heh, too slow. The majority of that post was a reply to banshee56's post
There's gonna be a team gathering tomorrow evening, 6pm GMT. On Moo Racing 2. Everyone's invited, even those who aren't on the team. We will be running a mystery combo.
I know you may think it is a bit high but I have set 10 members as the limit. We will then get to know each other, well we're already doing that but never mind. I do not want to give up on this team, if some people leave then its their choice, I can't do anything to stop them but I will carry on. I have started this team with the view to make it pretty well-known, hopefully for the right reasons, whereas some of the other new start ups, such as Castrol, didn't I suppose. I agree with what you are saying, that the teams that just accept anybody generally go down within the first month, but our team is not like that. Sure, we'll accept people pretty new to LFS but we expect them to be good drivers, as proven by the fact I have already booted someone off the team for being on the wrecker's barricade. Most, if not all, of our members play LFS for fun, nothing serious, which was the mindset I had when creating the team.
I guess what I was trying to say above is that we are selective, just not as selective as some of the more 'major' teams, which, IMO you cannot afford to be when you're just starting up.
Hehe. Seriously though, we have a system kind of like this but instead of being killed they are relegated to a lower social status. For example look in any school/college/university and there will be the 'popular' people, the 'geeky' people, the 'goth/emo/etc.' people, the 'loners' and any other group. Some people may try to get into one of these groups only to be shoved back out (not literally). Is this not the same kind of behaviour we get with packs of animals?
Yep, I'm gonna close it at 10 members. This does not mean we won't get more people but we'll become more reclusive and make people stalk us before we let them in
Its ok James, I don't mind if you don't agree with recruiting people through public posts on the forums but keep it to yourself. As someone wise once said: "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it". I know your post wasn't meant to be really nasty but it came across as being elitist. Thanks for the PM, it shows you really are sorry.
BTW, I will gladly accept any money you want to give me. My paypal address is [email protected]. Recommended donation is £50
EDIT: Sorry but this made me laugh, it was nothing against you, it was just what I'd put earlier.
(I'll say it again, this was not meant maliciously or anything)
I class myself as the leader of Moo, since I started it and ATM I'm doing everything (not including racing) for it. I also choose who to give out the admin password of my servers to so I have the most power in the team, therefore I'm leader. The thing is though that any of my members could put forward someone they want in the team and if their argument is strong enough then they'll be let in, without me even talking to them.
Then why read it? Nothings forcing you to come to this neck of the woods (forum ) so really there's no point you being here. Unless you just want to try and put other people down?
I'm not letting him get me down. I've got 8 members in my team and we're all becoming friends, which is the most important factor in a team IMO. Not how you recruit someone or how fast they are but if you can all get along.
P.S. Whats wrong the the n00b? (apart from the obvious stuff)
My respect of your team has gone down since you posted that. I know you won't care about that, you probably think I'm just some idiot who posts on this forum but I just thought I'd post it anyway.
EDIT: That was at James, not you Tommy (did I remember right?)
I first saw it on Motors TV, it was on a '3D Motors' or something like that. I decided to have a look at it so I downloaded the demo (it must have been just after S2 came out) and played that for ages. I persuaded my parents to buy a license for me for christmas 2005. I've been playing ever since.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I didn't have much time to play when I first got it, due to me persuading Frank Williams not to sign Kev's contract
What is wrong with recruiting from the forums? If the driver is safe and, in some cases, fast, what does it matter if they were recruited on the forums? Stop being elitist.
I gave a driving check to everyone apart from Niall (The General Lee) since I've known him since he was on demo and he is good, safe driver. I didn't give EmilO a driving test either because he's a long-standing member of the community, having joined in 2005 so I thought if he isn't a safe driver by now then there's something wrong. I gave driving tests to everyone else. (Oh apart from S14 DRIFT but he's done over 10,000 miles AFAIK)
