Quote from JJ72 :If anyone is into car livery design there's a contest going on for UK residents!

http://artcar.dunlop.eu/en/index.php?task=artGallery

they say no professional graphic designer allowed but I am not sure how well they can police it.

It's always for the UK!

Quote from Whiskey :From what I've seen (after reading the important posts on WDM forum), I understand that we'll still be getting weekly/monthly updates, am I right?

Also, I read something about the road tracks not available to the "poor" guys. Anybody knows what is the minimum toolpack I'd need to have?

I'm thinking about upgrading my junior toolpack or not. Not decided yet

Ian has said that development will continue as it always has, just that they may stop accepting new signups since they will have the funding from whatever merger/absorption/whatever deal they are about to announce. Those who are already involved will remain involved.

As far as the tracks not available to Juniors; the poll resulted in an overwhelming 'yes' from the community, so I guess Juniors will not have access to the two country roads venues. If that's that case, you just need to upgrade to Team Member to get access to them. Beware, though; other tiers are to be given other exclusive content, so don't think popping up one tier will give you access to everything through the whole cycle.

Quote from edge3147 :Right and because Scawen and Crew are such good developers and well known people, I am sure they are the first people Rockingham went to about this. I would bet money, that Rockingham already had a laser scan of the track and offered it to Scawen and Company for a price.

Scawen has already said, publicly, that no money changes hands in any of their licensing deals one way or the other. The companies do not pay Scavier and Scavier does not pay the companies. Rockingham happened due to a mutually beneficial agreement between the two parties that had nothing to do with one giving the other any money.

Quote from Myffe :lolwat photoshop can edit video now?

I guess if it can edit vector graphics and build websites why not make it do videos, too? Seems Adobe is combining all their programs together...

Quote from CodeLyoko1 :nice graphics, but WTF shift 2 physics? I'm so not buying this. I saw some gameplay and the physics are very bad. no oversteer or counter streering at all. nice graphics, but i have rfactor 2, lfs and iracing now, so no C.A.R.S

The engine backing the physics is from Shift 2, but the parameters are not the same. From what I understand, the engine itself is actually quite advanced. It just requires the right 1s and 0s to get it to be realistic. It's not quite there, yet, from what I can tell but it's definitely better than a lot of other titles. As far as rF2 is concerned, the only cars I like are the 60s F2 cars. I tried the Meganes and I can't bloody stand them. There's no feel in the FFB and the car behaves oddly. I've yet to try the FRenault or the new GT cars, though.

Insisting that you can tell the physics from gameplay videos is laughable. pCARS isn't perfect, but it's looking promising. Promising enough that I have just upgraded my membership level, which I didn't think I'd be doing.

Quote from BlueFlame :I thought the customers had shares in the company when they purchased the game?

Nope. They buy into the game, not the company. For legal reasons they don't call it investing, either. Simply just has the possibility of a return, no contract or anything concrete.

Quote from Fuse5 :punching above your weight is always a good idea for striving further : D

i doubt they are too keen on outsourcing though, that will probably go against their ethos, and the pristine image they have in the industry

gogoogogogo
now, more images plz

You'd be amazed at how many companies outsource a very large portion of what is in their portfolio; and that includes major design companies.

Quote from anttt69 :somebody tell them Donington is not that near Derby. nearest major town is Loughborough

I don't think they're too fussed. Watkins Glen is called Connecticut Hill, despite the fact that it's not even in the same state; WG is in up-state New York.

Quote from Mysho :If I buy the access to this game for €25 there is no need to pay anything else in the future at all? I mean, when the game comes out officially.

Nothing has been set in stone. IF it goes the F2P route (which is sounding less and less likely), I think that investment will offset content purchases until you've broken even. If it goes the boxed/full price route, that amount will be taken off of the purchase price.

Quote :After the departure of Infineon, only one Sprint Cup track still has a naming-rights contract: Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

Wow, the racing series with possibly the most blatant advertising schemes in the world only races at one track that has naming rights... that's pretty surprising to me.

Quote from flymike91 :That's really cool I hope he succeeds. Driving the 'ring in our own cars has always been out of reach for Americans. I hope the state government doesn't shoot it down based on the high number of deaths each year on the 'ring, as a re-creation could be built with more and larger runoff areas and as a rule require helmets to be worn. (not sure why helmets aren't required anyway)

Maybe in a couple months when I'm done hemmoraging from the move, two extra months of rent upfront and my hefty tax bill I'll finally dive in and get a 360 and FM4...

The biggest issue I'm having with pCARS is that it seems that 5 degrees on my wheel is 20 degrees in the game. =/ The smallest rotation of the wheel sends the car darting to the side; small movements are all but impossible. Granted I haven't had the time to really try to tweak anything, yet, but the fantastic options for car paint schemes (OOO Chrome!) are pulling me back to it...

Quote from JJ72 :I just got employed on a one year contract by an architectural firm, so progress on this side will be slightly dampened, however I can show you a sneak of my new racing team identity update:

with a font set to go with it too, then it will be website, team gear, garage panels....the lot!

Congrats on the contract! (More room for me to muscle into livery design! )

All the best mate, hope you enjoy it!

By strict you mean you must have prior offences to be allowed into the country, right?

I'm not sure what income tax is here; mostly because of school I actually get more in a return than I pay (and due to me not working while in school and thus having a low income under the personal allowance). This year will be a shocker, though... which reminds me, I need to get my shit in order and file my 2011 taxes...

In Ontario, our sales tax is 13% (which has gone down) and we don't get changed any tax on basic food items anymore (with some exceptions, I'm sure). I haven't driven much since I moved downtown, but I think gas right now is around $1.20/litre, I usually spend $8-12 at McDonald's, and the rend for my (2 bedroom, 2 full bath) condo is $1795/mo. I'm not sure what our national average salary is, either, but I'm a little shy of $40K/year as a Junior Designer.

Not too bad, really. No complaints. Anywhere else in Canada is cheaper to live, too... except maybe Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary IIRC.

IIRC it was an aero experiment done by Scawen for McGill as a possibility to be put on the real FSAE car. I'm assuming it was either unsuccessful or the FSAE rules ban aero packages; I'm not sure. Either way, it's not on the real car in competition spec so it's not in LFS, either.

Woohoo! We made the list!

I love Canada, but I could see myself quite happy in all the other countries from that sentence as well. Don't think I'd want to live anywhere but those four.
