Quote from Scawen :Yeah, as Flame points out, it makes a pretty big difference, so I hope you did switch on the option! Big grin

I got concerned that while in the engine sound editor, if anti-clip is enabled, then there is an issue that the person editing the sound can't tell if the sound will clip (because it will never clip). So that might influence the way they edit the sound.

So I think I should always disable anti-clip while you are in the engine sound editor.

Not going to lie of course I did not switch it on 🤣,(how stupid of me) but the sound is still too loud and it sounds distorted in the video.

I will note I did Send Jake_Blasted a new sound for his P166 mod that doesn’t clip or sound distorted, it’s up to him when he wants to upload it.

I will do more testing in couple of hours and get back to you with more accurate info.

Edit: P166 original sound has “exhaust pulse tone” it’s higher then lowest setting, I’ve noticed moving that up will make any sound distorted.

This is probably one of the best mods right now!

Wow dude you worked wonder with this mod! Great improvements: engine sound and performance, handling, suspension, AWD system, exterior styling! Just wow!

Only thing I’d say maybe turn down the engine inertia mul. (0.2) So it revs up a little easier, engine feels like it has heavy fly wheel.
Make the rear wing narrower so it’s the same width as the car

Keep up the great work! Thanks for fixing the clutch issue and improving the car

Quote from AEF :I don't understand... 2.6L 600BHP with naturally aspirated engine? However, nice mod!

I made this engine and sound, look up 1990 RX7 GTO and tell me if those specs don’t match or if the sound doesn’t match. Sadly we don’t have Rotary engines yet, but we got inline 4 with 2 stroke available 🤣

Quote from Scawen :I've added an experimental option to prevent clipping. It uses a small function on the output waveform to map 0...infinity to 0...1
So:
- it doesn't clip, regardless of how excessive the sound is or how many cars
- it is quieter, so you'll need to turn up the volume
- it is always distorted to some extent

I don't know how bad this distortion is.

I tried with many mods and many of my engine sounds and didn’t make much of difference.

At minimal just when it start to clip the distortion was not as bad but, still not enough to say it has helped.

Love the mesh of all muscle cars! 70s rear trans am, with a Hemi/Camaro front! Can’t wait to hear these muscle cars V8 bombing down the straights!

True but I think softer better than higher and stiff. Those cars tend to roll and lean and pivot

Are we actually going to get an S14 Silvia that feels real!??? I’m excited for this

This is amazing!! Nothing like real life homework and research! Today I will be driving the car and see how it reacts! My main concerns right now are suspension movement and travel, and differential and torque split. I hope those are close to Real Life

Quote from Mr. Apex :Thank you very much, Martin!
This super-light 95 kg V8 will go in my E30 Big grin

I'm sure the engine will be super convenient for lots of other projects as well. Will test it out as soon as possible!

Ohh yeah 🤣 95 kg Is impossible with LFS modeler… it’s like 140 kg

Some more suspension work needed in this, car tends to get tail happy while trail braking. Almost seems like car just has snap over steer out of no where.
Can we get a digital speedometer or something

Besides that sounds much better now, looks really good!

This onboard video has bad sound quality, but maybe for analysis purposes

But that’s a hayabusa engine not the Hartley

Quote from Scawen :Thanks for helping with the engine sounds! It has been fun hearing different engine sounds driving past. Although I know the sound engine is quite limited, some results can sound pretty good.

I was wondering if something should be done in code to stop the clipping. It's hard for the editor to know in advance (before allowing upload) if an engine sound will clip, as it would have to run it through the whole engine sound system.

But maybe there should be a clipping prevention system for the output waveform. One that could even deal with multiple engine sounds combining.

I'm not saying I'll definitely do that, and I can do my own research too, just thought I'd ask here in case anyone has a suggestion. Smile

Of course any time! I tried my best to make them sound realistic.

I’ve notice that a couple things make sound clip:
Going over 100mph the wind noise gets too loud and it will clip due to all the sounds. I keep all my audio setting in the middle as default settings. I turned down the wind noise in the shift A setting and it will clip easily
Header noise maxed out will sound good for race engines but it also causes sound to clip easily, have to add a lot of silencer and turn down exhaust volume to around 2.0
