I had a similiar problem once - I wanted to change my desktop theme ( windows xp ) and to do so I had to use some kind of patcher for explorer exe - but after restarting the PC my explorer exe was gone. Luckily I was able to get my explorer exe back by running that same application again, which had a uninstall or repair option or something like that So, try running that transformation kit again, maybe it'll help. If not, then try getting an explorer.exe from somwhere ( don't really think that will work, but anyway)
Edit: C:\Windows\explorer.exe :P
About the picture - it could be better nothing more to say, comments & criticism welcome.
edit: well after thinking about it, here's a few more words about the picture - i tried to capture that one "close cal", the moment that can change the whole race. To do so I took 29 pictures, opened them up in PS, organized them and started to sort them out. The remaining images got a nice little layer mask, but the whole thing looked crap - grainy at the parts where I failed using the layer masks propperly - so I took a look at the blending options of the main layer ( the background , first frame of the set of pictures ) and started randomly clicking on layer styles. I was lucky imho as this yellow/red layer style suits the picture, the red area clearly shows when and where was that crucial moment ( the XFR missing the UFR ). The main picture was rather empty along the sides so I started adding stuff randomly from my brush palette, and this is the result.

That's what I wanted to post after reading through this thread, but you were quicker After a brief look on their forums ( on the threads linked in this topic ) I really got the feeling that hardcore believers (they are the ones having a huge postcount and only saying "read faq/use search/already been explained/quote" or giving so short answers any IRC channel would admire) are just one person, or a family or something. It's a kind of hobby imho, like I play css all day long, he (or she) is posting BS on that forum and enjoying how others are finding it ridiculous and trying to convice "them" how f***ed up their theory is
Never before, but If I remember correctly I've heard stories of this kind from others ( screensaver poping in while driving with the wheel ) Good luck with fixing the problem
That sounds kinda strange. Could you try out other games which need a wheel controller, please? Anything will do, NFS, GTR, any game where you can do a longer stint with the wheel only - not touching the mouse or the keyboard. If it always happens after a certain period of time, then I think it is caused by a power saving setting in windows - sleep mode after a certain ammount of time, or maybe just the screen saver wants to pop in. But if it also happens in FPS games, then I have no clue where the problem might be (except the usual fiddling around with the drivers for graphics card/mainboard/cpu)
Here's mine. Not many things modified. The reason some of the icons are in the middle of the screen is, that i sometimes connect my old monitor to the notebook, and the resolution goes all the way down to 1024*768, and I cannot be bothered to rearrange them every time, so they just stay where they are
Want moar!11one_1 This was a very nicely made video, the syncronisation with the music was perfect, and it also fitted the scenes quite well. Thumbs up, and I really hope to see some more of your work, as good as this one, or better ;D
@sam93
Maybe you're right about the loss, but imo the basic ammount of friendliness didn't get lost, it just got overwhelmed by the massive "noobness" (couldn't find a better word right now) of the newcomers. Nowadays the trend seems to be less thinking but more typing, + somehow people find it easier to express their negative feelings (bitch'n'whine) than the positive ones, even when the situation requires saying something nice, or not saying anything at all.
How mouch would you ask for making one more of that pedal set + shipping to Europe ? In all seriousness :O :P after seeing that video, there's no way back btw, lol@ the BOV sound
@delankster
The front wheel looks perfect, the rear one looks a little weird maybe it just need to reposition the center of the radial blur, but I'm no expert @ blurring
@bash0r
By optimizing do you meen that it needs more rain or some fiddling with the oppacity levels? I had one more layer with rain, but decided not to use it. Yeah, the mirroring is quite strong, but i had to do it that way as the reflection is lacking the undertray of the car , so undert the slpashes I blacked out the whole thing ( see attachment - it looked better without the ripple effect, but as I mentioned, forgot to save the original layer -.- ).
@JJ72
Why not? BMP would've been a lot bigger, and I didn't want to loose quality because of the JPG compression. About the spray - so far I haven't been able to make a more realistic water splash - It's quite difficult making it look like 3D whereas the image is just 2D ( adding depth to it is the problem, imho ).
Thanks for the comments!
@JO53PHS
That's quite nice :O ( the reflection of the wheels isn't spinning )
For full size click *here* (1680*1050, interlaced PNG, 3.42 MB)
[4 hours of work- forgot to duplicate the reflection layer before applying ripple, and only noticed that when it was already too late :< , comments&criticism highly appreciated]
@JJ72
Did you use some kind of "guide to make tarmac look wet" tutorial :P ? If so, could you be so kind and post a link to it,please!
@Mistikal
Very nice edit, just two things :o both about the front light - I think it's reflection from the water should look like the light's reflection on JJ's picture ( vertically distorted ). And the second thing, as the car is so close to the wall, shouldn't there be some kind of lighter spot on the wall ( where the frontlight shines ). Other than that, brilliantly done, both of you. I wish I had the skills you guys have :O those pictures make me want to timejump into the future to finaly see the rain in LFS :P
CoH is a good RTS, but I found World in Conflict even more addictive than CoH. You should give it a go, the story is fantastic, so is the gameplay and the whole "feel to it".
@Chrisuu01
I don't want to be offensive, but could you please write the words correctly! Sometimes it's rather hard to understand what the heck you want (even lolspeak is easier )
Well, 9 or 19, does it really matter? Basicaly we can say that i liked it because it was colorful, but colorful in a very stylish way :P I like to watch films with little, or no expectations (can't say this statement is true when the subject is a sequel :P), so when the end credits show up I can't say that it wasn't what i was awaiting it to be. You can't take Speed Racer seriously, but if you let the story carry you away, you'll enjoy the film, imho. Don't trust the reviewers, watch it and then decide whether you liked it or not
