alright, UAC is off, firewall access granted but still dont recieve guest info even though it loads the track, textures and even downloads the skins. It's like it times out. UGH, haven't played LFS online in 2 weeks. I miss it.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME?!

just the windows firewall. not sure about my router if it has one...not too savy on the whole networking aspect of computing but I'll try a clean install.

no dice. same error. Any other thoughts?

Ok, new rig, new problems. Transfered my old LFS folder over to the new HDD just fine. single player works and runs flawlessly but multiplayer doesn't.

Few specs before I go further:
vista 64 home premium
q6600
8800gts
asus p5k
2GB ocz 6400

So when I go to connect to a server, demo or full, it will DL the skins and do every little connection thing except recieve guest info. I've tried running as admin and full power settings but nothing has helped. gonna try and turn off the firewall real quick...nope. "did not recieve guest info, lost connection to host"

quite frustrating as you can imagine. I've got all the latest driver and everything. Any suggestions?Shrug

ps-i'm retarded and just found the 'separate axis' toggle. just took me a minute to find it in vista. not as bad of a learning curve as I thought

Just installed vista 64bit home premium into my new rig (q6600, asus p5k, 8800gts) and cant get my black momo to read the axis (plural?) properly. On xp it said the x axis for accel and rz axis for brake but now they're both on the same and not pressing either leaves it right in the middle.

I downloaded the latest drivers for vista 64 bit for the g25 since during my search I saw someone have luck with that considering the g25 is getting continued support but not the momo wheel. Vista recognizes it just fine but LFS doesnt...atleast as far as the two axies (?) go

well, when the q6600 is only $80usd more than the e6600 and overclocking on the g0 stepping models is outrageous then no reason NOT to. Only more and more programs will take advantage of quad cores in the future.

building a similar rig probably this week. Got the money and a friend's work has the parts. I'm going to have just one 8800gts 320 card but a q6600 with g0 stepping.

What kind of framerates do you get in LFS? My current p4 with ati x800 pro and get 150+ so i bet this new rig is gonna be rediculous

with the analog guage you can count how many times it goes around and i believe that the bigger the tire the faster the speed registered. I tweak a car with a ton of hp and huge wheels then dropped 5th and final ratios to .500. IIRC the guage was 720mph/rotation and i did about 14.5 rotations. 720mph x 14.5=10440mph wheel speed

and i think there must be since on is unlocked and the other that I unlocked last night is re-locked

Ok, I understand that we are given one unlock per week. Normally this would be more than enough considering I rarely have problems but I saw a thread where someone had different versions of the LFS.EXE file so things like tweak and smokemod would work. Upon seeing this I figured I could delete my duplicate LFS folder and just move the version V LFS.EXE over to the original LFS folder. This worked great...until I went to play it(patch v). Had to unlock. No biggie. Hadn't unlocked in a while so I did but just now when I go to play I have to unlock again. What gives? My patch x is unlocked but not v. Any idea?

said it couldn't load his car in the first one for me. not sure but i've been having some unlock issues lately. And the xrt drifting is just terrible. is that auto tranny and KB?

Many varied points of view here. I feel that limited, high quality additions to the game would be welcome. What ever happened to teh rally pack? Devs get too caught up in pumping out patches? Lets get RedRum and Kegtys workin on it. I know both of them have skills when it comes to these areas.

The additions could be fabbed up and sent to the devs who they and thier small group of testers to evaluate each item for balance, quality and general goodness of fit into LFS. Once a "beta" has been completed it could be released much like a test patch (obviously incompatible with previous patches due to the extra content if it were a new car or track, ect...) and it could be honed and polished into fitting nicely into the released verion of LFS.

Heck, hypothetically it'd be cool to have a contest with the addition much like the lx comp but not necessarily awarding prizes but just to get the word out...though by release I think it wouldn't need much help. News travels fast on here.

I understand that new content could cause an immediate massive shift to trying out the new fangled whatever but hopefully it would nestle right in and be happy with all of the other great content already provided for us.

(i didn't use 'modifications' just because, as stated before, they tend to have a bad rap for diluting quality. *cough*rFactor*cough*)

i let it sit long enough because i was posting other things with that instance of LFS running and it went down to -99. Also, it you have skinny tires and you put the aspect raito (second tire number) to ~ 200 as soo as you start moving the tires heat up to 9999 in about 2 seconds. kinda funny

just playin around with lfstweak a minute ago and saw something i've never seen before...negative tire temps. It's got something to do with my tires being 100/1000/12's. Tiny, skinny rim with super high sidewall for those who dont understand the number system. Normal tires and started at 40 degrees but the temp started going down with I hit the gas. Note:no smoke from them either...

I like this idea. 3rd party content approved and officially released with proper credit given. Think of it as "folding at home" for LFS. Let the dev team grow and expand to those in the community who know what they're doing while Scavier focuses on the core elements of making LFS what they dream it to be

are there .spr's out there from people who drive these alien-like times? like a 1:10 or 1:09 lap spr? the comparing thing on the rank page of the competition site is cool but in game would be better

i think that if, like evilgeek suggested, you get rid of all inputs that just wouldn't work (i.e.:control inputs that steer/gas/brake/shift too early/late/much/little and setup variables {outlying values such as final drive too low or high, camber too much, etc..} that just dont make sense) then this could be done if someone were to write a program to do so and have the time to let it run.

almost too many variables to list though.

car, tire temps, gas, different lines, setup, wind. you get the idea with the two largest and most variable components being set and line.

I find it funny with people talking about beta's and the testing involved. LFS has certainly gone through a different process of development than most games with thousands testing alpha daily
