sorry, if i used a bad tone in my comment, i´m a bit tired.
this thread just got me upset, because like some other forum members i liked the fact that this guy was brave enough to show his pictures and then somebody thought of accusing him for cracking based on the fact that his forum name showed "demo" and he showed a car that he wasn´t "allowed to know about" untill he is proper licenced.
this behaviour sadly is often seen in this forum and is really not nice against potential lfs customers.
why are people acting that way? also if they see somebody use the demo for longer than five minutes, why do they blame them for not buying a licence? if the devs liked any restriction on the use of the demo they would have coded it in.
this game and its devs are something special - the way the game is developed and spread is special - so the lfs community should also be something special. be nice and help eachother - and go racing!
@jazz: please reread my last two sentences and think about them for one more minute. my best wish for that people is that they might be treated in a way that helps them to see how bad it is to be mistreated and that they learn from that not to treat others bad. (they should not suffer in this learning process, but sadly often enough people are just willing to change if it hurts real bad).
(and for the record: besides food i eat and the air that i breathe, i´m 100% full of me!™, you are too, aren´t you?)
do any of you people have nothing better to do than think of a little something to accuse a new forum member for cracking?
there are pictures of ALL lfs cars on the official website, free to see for everybody! the cmx viewer is also free to use for everybody!
also there are tons of official screenshots of almost every corner of lfs, even some of unfinished or not released material!
it is because of people like you that some demo users might never buy a license!!! not because they have no money or lfs is not a good game, no because of people like you who do not welcome new forum members as guests and possible new friends, but blame them for stealing. do you realize that all this unpolitness might also cost the devs money?
ok, this one said the bad crack word himself, that was stupid, but that is no reason to treat anybody the way you people sometimes do!
best whishes to all of you and might there be someone who treats you the way you deserve to be treated...
and there is nothing that justifies bad behaviour, just because it was a reaction to a bad behaviour of another person.
there are simply too many servers and not enough racers!
five minutes ago there were 1100 racers (600 of them were demo drivers) online and 360 servers!
we´ve seen spikes of racers at over 2000 racers, but then there were almost 600 servers for those!
the popular combos got popular to some degree, because they are the few populated servers.
since in this day and age all fuzz is about social networks and automatic friend finders - why not implement automatic match making in lfs?
instead of having so many servers with only a few people in it let lfs world join these players based on their lfs stats to form races with full grids. the moment you choose automatic match making instead of manually joining a server you could be taken to a free server by lfs world to meet fellow racers that got sent there because your stats match. that should give good, close racing. there could even be choices if somebody likes to race with better drivers to learn racing lfs world could join these racers aswell. if somebody does not fit to the choosen server and is constantly crashing or deep below average times lfs world could take him to another server with some slower racers for the next race automatically.
this could be implemented for car and track rotation aswell. instead of browsing all servers for one that is providing the track/class/length of race you want, there should be some interface like in single player where you choose your car and/or track and that´s it! you will be taken to a fitting server and can choose a setup to race with. that way there even could be pick up endurance races where you can join a race that is allready in progress and take over a car from a player that is having a break or is leaving the game. this could be fun in s3 with night and weather to play 24 hours endurance races.
@dadge: hey forum police - did it ever occur to you that not everybody knows that he can log into this forum with their s1/s2 account?
maybe he is just a user that uses another nick on the forums than ingame?
and do you think it is impossible to play at another persons computer?
please do not assume everybody is as you think he is...
and if you accuse someone of misbehaviour - then don´t spam treads yourself...
after following this thread i made a decision: being loyal to lfs for nearly ten years isn´t gonna help anymore...
@scaven - please give the community something to play with... even if it is just the vws with old physics or a random test patch to check anything...
in the meantime i go and do something else...
if you are kind and the next patch does something to lfs soon, i would be happy to come back and play lfs for the next decade. otherwise i just have to get over it and forget it like so many good things of the past.
what i still don´t understand is why scaven alowed the people at the game convention drive the vw with the old physics and the rest of the community had to stand and watch. he has every right to decide the way he did, but this situation is giving bad feelings to most of us.
why not release the vw as it is? when the new physics are done we will have an incompatible patch anyways, and we have to learn the new physics on all cars.
the first years lfs was like a really long open betatest with new and exciting features every so often. to be honest lfs is one of the games i am playing for years and years. not much other "final" games are that good.
so please get back to the old style of community involvement and test patch publication. if the physics are that tricky then please step over your shadow scaven and accept at least some help from the community.
peace, mo
@scaven: you can try to do everything on your own, but don´t be surprised if you are alone in the end...

Reason : added another sentence
it is unbelievable how greedy some people can be!
lfs is one of the games i´m playing for years and we recieved countless updates and features for free in this time. how can anybody be envy of a demo user? most people just don´t get the different business modell of lfs anyways. if the devs were like any other game company we would be probably at lfs part 7 or 8 now and had to pay five times the money for every part.
just tell me three other games from 2001 to 2004 that you still play and that are not open for modding to keep you on it! you see?
why do you not let have other people have fun with the limited content of the demo? if the devs have any problems with that "overuse" of the demo the can restrict it anytime they want! if they choose to leave the demo unrestricted than respect that decision. also they did infact "restrict" the demo in the way that you have to register now to get rid of the worst wreckers.
so instead of picking on the poor demo users encourage them to play clean and fair and convince them to buy a licence to multiply the fun they have in the full version.
^^^^ he is using a test patch from the test patch forum - one of the new addidtions are abs brakes.
if you want to try the test patch backup your current lfs exe in case you want to go back to it.
all test patches till now are online compatible - the only thing that is missing is the hotlaps for the cars with abs because the implementation is not finished.
omg... you are a bunch of facists here... can´t you just be polite to anyone?
being a demo or a s1 or s2 licenced driver is nothing to judge people for!
Devs, please remove this attribute from the forums or make it clear and in big, bold letters to everyone how to use their licence name in the forums.
most people don´t join a forum when they buy or find a game - and if they do there is no big hint for them not to sign in with a new name.
in fact i think about singing in as demo user for my next comments just to see if my status affects the answers i get and the behaviour of you all...
do you see the little boxes that say "invert"?
toggle them to invert your steering axis and your pedals as needed.
then have a look at the little bars on the right - they move if you press a pedal or turn the wheel. just assign the right ones to the functions in the middle of the screen by clicking the function and then using the pedal or wheel.
if you don´t get the results you want - unplug the wheel, reinstall the wingman drivers and try it again. don´t forget to uncheck "use combined axis" in the wingman drivers.
maybe we all should write logitech emails until the rewrite the drivers in a way that they only use 10% of the motor power for the self calibration test?
when using the wheel we all can turn down the feedback strength, so i can´t see any reason why the wheel must use all of its power just for a sensor and movement test.
that might come from a slightly bent housing...
when i first fixed my shifter i used a little piece of rubber between it and the table to prevent it from slipping. when i fixed the screws it would bend the housing just a little (barely noticable) but i had the same problem with the sequential shifter not functioning properly and keeping stuck. after removing the piece of rubber all was working right again.
maybe you need the clear calibration program from the wingmanteam.com website to set your axxis right again.
first i would try to deinstall the logitech drivers from you system and reinstall them once again - if the problem persists try the momo tweak utility (that was made for the problem when the wheel is not centering right) and the other utilites from the wingmanteam site.
by momo force do you mean the red one?
if so this page might be also of interest to you: http://www.murchisons.net/f1/
why are all you guys so narrow minded in the last time?
there is no rule that one has to install the latest patch - in fact you can have as many different lfs versions as you like on your harddrive...
you can only use one licensed version online at a time but that is not the question here.
to the topic starter: what wheel do you use (if any...)?
maybe you have to use another amount of turning compensation.
mess around with the settings in lfs for a bit.
if it still is not geting better i assume you spin everytime the turbo kicks in - that is not as easy to catch without a wheel.
i bet there is no "racer" who is not drifting sometimes - it is just something that happens if you drive at the limit.
also i bet there is no drifter that would not benefit from racing techiques like heal and toe.
in the end we all are here because we like to move virtual cars in the best simulated environment that is available at the moment.
one thing that helps us all is to accept the fact that there are different tastes - otherwise we all would only drive the bf1 on the oval, because this is the "fastest" - there are diferent cars and different tracks so we can use our steering wheels for more than one direction...
if i ever meet one of the rude people of this topic on a server i bet they also have no racing etiquette... all of them are just intolerant. what are they doing in a blue flag situation? swear at the faster guys?
to understand drifters a little more look at the video "drift bible" maybe then you see that it needs a lot of driving skills to move a car in any driving situation near the limit!
one thing that bugs me is the fact that older replays become obsolet with nearly every patch...
i understand that the game engine cannot play these older spr and mpr anymore because of the changes in the physics engine or else, but it is still frustating that i´m not able to watch older replays and lfs only tells me "this replay needs an older version of lfs" without telling me which version.
one workaround would be to name my replays with the version in the name, but then i still would not know wich version to use if i download someone elses replays. and i have to keep every version of lfs i ever had on my harddrive.
so please do something about the older replays, because there are literally thousands of hours of great racing just lost because we don´t know how to play them.
a seperate replay viewer is something i assume is very hard to build because of the very different physics and other stuff between, say s1h and s2z, but at least find some way to let lfs tell me what version would be needed to play the replay. maybe put a version stamp on every replay, just like the time and date. and then make every older version of lfs available with just the replay section active - so even demo users could watch every replay ever made in lfs with any track or car - without giving access to the tracks and cars themself.
this also could draw a lot of attention towards lfs - and we can make a replay database just like the setupfield or the lfs movie database.
don´t confuse your WEB password and your GAME password - with your WEB password and your username you can log into the forum, into lfs world and into your player acount on the main lfs website.
to unlock the game you have to use your GAME password (which you can change in your acount on the main lfs website i think).
yes, i don´t like the cluttering of the posts either, but if you just like to see scavens posts use the search function and let the forum show you posts sorted by username. (that is "s c a v e n")
you can also save the race grid after you added different cars to avoid having to do this time consuming method every time.
and you can save more than one grid.
to find the dfp in a store you should not go to the computer department but to the playstation area, as it is marketed only for playstation but will work on pc if you install the logitech drivers.
turn centering spring, spring and damper settings to zero in your wheel settings (or in profiler if you use a logitech wheel), because lfs only uses the standard force feedback and no additional effects like gtr or rfactor...
all live for speed versions are the same except for the content - that is what is so beautiful about this sim... the demo is a proper demo of the current technical stand of the full game and even the people who only bought a s1 licence till now get the same updates as everyone.
the possibility to join all users on common servers now will surly get some more to get a licence, because they get a chance to race with more experienced drivers and are not stuck on the demo servers with an unproportional amount of wrecking and chrashing.
the community on the other side should welcome them and be gentle if someone is not behaving right - but at the same time show them how proper and fair racing is bringing more fun to everyone.
and show them the way to the forums, because only if they meet the community some of them will realize that lfs is not just another racing game but a racing community and the longest living open betatest in history - most other games don´t get played that long and with the the same enthusiasm even if they are a major release!
peace mo
you can also have more than one installation of live for speed on your harddrive. i for instance have a lfs demo 0.4q, a s1h, s2v and s2y and all are unlocked! Unlocking of 0.4q is not possible anymore because the master server has moved but you can play and make servers online with all versions! you can even revert your unlocked s2 to a s1 or demo version if you want to but you need unlocks everytime so better do some parallel installs. this should be no licence problem since you can use only one version at a time... and it is quite fun to race the older versions from time to time to see how far we have come.

Reason : forgot some lines...
have my g25 since dec. 06 and had no whatsoever problems with it.
at first the wheel felt a little thin as i had the red momo before and the wheel on that one was really thick like a real sportscar wheel, but i accomodated to that and i like the bigger diameter of the wheel now.
i also have a playseat evolution and this has brought a whole new dimension of immersion to my gaming, because now i sit right above the ground and not in an office chair which always felt a little like driving a lorry. the playseat is really sturdy and the evolution variant has a much stiffer wheelbase which is not swinging from side to side like on the first playseat. i also have the gearshiftholder for the g25 which fits nicely besides the seat, but i think i will build me a nice little plate to have the opinion to fix the gearshifter right next to the wheel for using it as a handbrake if i drive some richard burns rally.
all in all not cheap but worth every dime.
i don´t know how many hours i used it, but on the average i´m on at least about five to ten hours a week.
