the ai seems to even gotten worse, because they can´t handle the new physics. they make good use of slipstreaming but then don´t use the extra speed for overtaking but instead breake much earlier.
i tried a five lap race in the bf1 on kyoto oval from the last grid position and i beat tha ai by two laps!!!
didn´t have to use the brake once the whole race (could the brakes be removed for kyoto ring? they only bring weight to the car and are not needed on this track... )
tested some other track/car combos i got different results. on blackwood and in the city the ai seems a little better than in all other tracks, but one have to keep in mind that the ai is learning each track/car seperatly, so they know my favorite tracks better.
with the updated phsics, there might be a chance that we see the lx8 in some form again. they stated already that the skins of the lx4 and lx6 are going to be updated, this might go for the rest of the cars aswell.
i seriously like to have a lx8 because i like the lx6 very much, even if it was hard to drive till yesterday...
have you seen the onboard video from michael vergers in the radical? this is realy scary... seeing how fast it looks in an open car. all the onboards from porsches seem slow against this. and the sound is cracking. and it was a road legal car he did a stunning 6 minutes 55 on the slightly shortened nordschleife.
don´t try this at home!

@boss: ah, i see.
ok its more like the nurburgring is the hole thing and the nurburgring-nordschleife is just a specific part of it, but in the old days the nordschleife practicaly was the whole nurburgring (or 90% of it) and it think it was even a longer version before that but it was no dedicated race track, back then.
no its more like aston cadet or aston national different parts of a huge track.
the nordschleife is not used for formula 1 these days anymore, they reworked parts of the course and added a new grand prix course in the late 80s.
but there´s public driving at the nordschleife on certain days and it is used for testdriving and the world famous 24h race which is amazing because of the different cars that are taking part. from eco-fuel new beetles to 800+hp porsche and viper all are racing this incredible "green hell" as it is called with radical weather changes among the track.
look it up further if you are a race addict, dig for some onboard videos otherwise you won´t belive.
best one to drive it in a sim on pc would be the reworked gpl track for gt legends. there you also got a fun to drive, yet sometimes to easy to be true, cars of the right era the 60s to mid 70s.
go check it

<edit> i forgot: yes i like to race the nordschleife in lfs - i want it to get real...
there seems to be no server online at the moment, and i think people had problems to join if i was hosting. yesterday it finally worked as shotglass hosted, dunno if he has time today...
@space: in this version of lfs there are only four views: wheels, in car, following car and tv camera. the wheel view is adjustable in menue - view- field of view... take something around or above 100 to beginn with and look if it suits you. not much further modifications possible i think.
@ all: are u ready to race the old tracks again?
starting a small server right about now... master server ip: 82.44.126.169
game name: demo_days
no password
game version DEMO 0.04Q (download in my link on the previous site)
to all the people not finding the old versions for download anymore: just follow my link on the first site of this tread and you´ll find the lfs download archives.
seems they messed up the main lfs page with todays updates so there´s no direct link found on the site anymore, though the contents are still there.
peace mo
@victor: if you read this, fix the lfs main page, please. thank u
@rts: yes the ai was better then compared to the actual s2, but the s2 ai is not finished yet. they are now so dumb because they have no idea about tire temperatures and dirt, things which have changed since s2.
but if you give them good setups and let them train for 60+ laps they get a little better. but if you change the default name ai123... to some real names all learning is forgotten and they have to learn again. the same goes for every car/track combination.
couldn´t drive that little beast for a long time - then i tried the easy setups from the beginner section and that helped a lot. now it´s up to a race setup from there. i like the lx 4 a little better.
another reason: it is a very nice programmed piece of software and it stays it its folder where an application has to be and is not generating random folders, uninstall folders, hidden save game folders or something alike.
thats not very play related, but a thing to mention in times when game developers think they can do whatever they want on consumer pc´s...
aside of that: if u want to seriously race on the pc - try it, buy it and then master it. it has a great community and people are always helping eachother.
don´t buy it if you expect counter strike on wheels (not to offend anyone).
okay shotglass: ur connection gives a different error; but i think i can connect to your game. the error is: "did not receive guest info"
think of turning master server off!

<conspiracy mode on> we heard about the physics and the aero updates that make strong cars more controllable. we saw a dense, foggy version of blackwood. we have a picture of a sauber and saw that bmw used lfs for a commercial. next thing is the bmw pitlane attraction show with driving simulators. this is to be reveiled at the nurburgring formula1 gp in may.
--> me thinks that the devs licenced lfs to bmw for their show, therefore they needed a f1 car. now the big issue is: what bmw gave to the devs? just money? i dont think so - i think they payed for a nordschleife licence or at least for a f1 gp circuit. the fog is also very good for simulating the nordschleife since there is often foggy or rainy weather along the track. </conspiracy mode off>
hi,
i brought this topic up in the big disscussion this morning, but nobody reacted.
do you have the possibilities to set up a server for a nostaligia race?
or can we just race ip to ip?
edit: why is my picture not showing correctly? why is the image resized in the link? why are the simple tasks always the hardest? /edit
edit2: at least the link is now working, but i really like to know how to insert a picture that it shows in the topic itself... /edit
the old blackwood guru preserving the spirtit of lfs gave some little idea:
you can download the first public demo 0.04Q from liveforspeed.net - it has the original feel and the original blackwood track in it - it even has drivers without racing suits or helmets...
how about a race in demo 0.04Q ???
the demo cannot find the master server, because the default ip adress not longer working, but someone surly can setup a server. if not, ip to ip racing must be possible.
anyone out there wants to waste their time with me?
