there is a new office plate for the playseats evolution which can hold a keyboard and your mouse and there is a seperate holder for a tft screen. take a look here (sorry it is in german, but the pictures should speak for themselves and you could always use google tools for translation): http://www.ggp-racing.com/de/shop/17/

i have the playseats evolution with the newer model of the gearshift holder for about a year now. been using it with a g25 and i absolutely love it. to use it i just remove my office chair pull my keyboard and monitor to the frontside of my desk, lower my monitor to about desk height and let the racing begin.

the first thing you did wrong was plugging in the wheel before installing the drivers! if you first install the drivers (use the new ones from the logitech website, not the ones on the cd) it will prompt you at a point to plug in the wheel now.

this is possible if you have a second pc and a second license - then you can join the server as driver and as spectator and have two different views.
this is also possible with one license in lan only games.
in game there is imo no way to see two views at the same time.

are you running windows xp? if so, there is an option to turn off the automatic restart on errors. rightclick on my computer, then goto advanced, look for a box called starting and ..., click on properties look for system errors and uncheck the box that says automatic restart.
this might not solve the actual issue with the wheel, but at least you´ll get a chance to see any warning boxes or even a blue screen, which can help us to narrow down the problem.
have been using a red momo for about five years, but i never had that problem. faulty soundcard drivers are most often responsible for restarts.

goto logitech website and download the new lgs software or use the cd that came with your g25.
if you install the software a point will come when the installer prompts you to connect the hardware now. then the software will recognize the wheel.
you do not need the profiler application, only if you use different games with different wheel settings, than it will change the settings for you if you start a game. just like the game profiles in nvidia drivers.
if your wheel is working then goto windows properties gamedevices and set it up for lfs: wheelturn 720°, ffb 101% (this prevents the wheel from shaking on straights), damper and spring 0% (not needed by lfs), centering spring checkbox checked but value at 0%.
in lfs setup your axxes and kobs, ffb anywhere from 30%-150% depending on the car an how much you want to work the wheel.
happy racing...

the default setups cannot be changed so you can always go back to them.
if you change one of your setups then make a copy of it first, apply the changes to this copy and go back to the old one if you don´t like it.

I like the viewport options lfs is offering because, like someone mentioned above, they allow us to find the most realistic viewpoint per car.
also a very valid argument is that the adjustments have to fit to my seating position and wheel/pedals position. as i race with a playseat my seating position is very low and my feet are at the same angle they are in a real sportscar. however i have a wheel so i do not like to have one on screen and i like to have the dashboard view like in the two pics above, only slightly further back and with the realistic dashboard enabled.
if there has to be a forced cockpit view i would consider all viewpoints inside the drivers cabin legit.
next step would be forced helmet view (there was some f1 game that did this, and i played some egoshooter with helmet view - that was horrible).
why can´t we keep the freedom of choice?
if some people like hardcore they are free to establish servers with rules, but don´t bother everyone with your "best choice". i do not think someone who uses following camera wants to force the cockpit drivers to his viewport to get equality.
if it is implemented as a serverside option i like not to see it for spectators or in the replays.

is your momo making squiking or scratching noise when turning the wheel while ff is enabled? then myabe your motor has gone lose - this is a problem which all red momos feature due to poor construction on one part of the assembly.
goto: http://www.murchisons.net/f1/ and look at the instructions. i recommend to fix the motor screws with loctite or superglue so you don´t have to do this three times like i had to. Cool
also goto logitech.com and download the newest logitech gaming software (maybe you have to select an actual product before, because sometimes they only offer older software if you choose an older product). the current version is lgs 5.0. this is the driver and it also includes a programm which can handle profiles for different games.

edit: settings for momo: in windows - turn 270, ffboverall 100% (use101% if the steering turns itself left/right on straights, spring+damper 0%, centering spring ticked but 0%; in lfs ffb from 30 to 100 depending on the car and how much you like to workout...

as3 is like a long oval, there are no realy tight turns but very long straights, so the best would be to look for high turn exit speed. eddie jordan mentioned this in his new tv series where he tries to turn some car stealing young guys into mechanics and race drivers. he said that on some courses the corner entrys can be ridiculusly low speeds, but you need that high exit speed to take it onto the straights, because otherwise it will cost you time.
cutting the curbs in my opinion it is part of the race line on some tracks, but not all racing series use the same racing line on the same track, because some cars can handle it while others will break. this is what i like to see in lfs - realistic damage to the suspension depending on car class.

to my knowledge there is no limit in paralell installations. on my hdd are versions 0.04, s1h, s2v, s2w and one that was the w testpatches and is now s2x. all are unlocked and functional. you can use only one of them online at a time, but you are allowed to have multiple installations in your local network to race with friends offline.
as for unlocks keep an eye on them if you use them often so you don´t run out of unlocks.
when i copied my s2w to test the test patches i didn´t had to unlock it for a reason.

since one of the w test patches the ai can start from the pits, but you get the error message from above if you try to start a practice or qualifying session with already added ai on the singleplayer screen.
if you want the ai to sart from the pits (which causes some funny carnage in some pitlanes) start a practice or qualifying session, then press t and then write /ai, if you press return you´ll see that an ai has added. repeat this for as many ai you want and then restart the session with shift+r. now all are driving out of the pits.
if you just want to train the ai on tracks just start races like it was all the time, but do not close the session before the race ends otherwise the ai "learn" file will be reset and the ai has learned nothing. then race them (or let them race by themself) they will learn within about 60 to 100 laps, then there will be no further improve till scaven implements the new physics and the knowledge about tire temperatures for the ai. there is a knowledge file for every ai and for every car+track combo so if you change tracks they have to learn that track. also don´t rename your ai because that will also lead to new knowledge files and they are dumb as before.

everything else is like all the people in here already said.

Quote from Jakg :The DFP replaces the momo - i think you've misread it somewhere

actually neither is a replacement, both are marketed and distributed for different platforms. black momo for pc and the dfp for playstation. that is why you see only on of them on the logitech website - they seperate pc and playstation users before the actual product selection.
regardless of that the dfp is fully functional at the pc if you install the drivers, but the black momo does not work well with the playstation.
so the dfp is the technically and prizewise better choice.

maybe scavier are able to merge the s1 and the s2 stages so we can all use the same servers and the only thing that seperates us are the cars and the tracks that are only available to the s2 users? it really makes no sense to seperate the licenced users the way it is now. only the demo users should be seperated because of the wrecking factor.
then it would also be good if there are more licenced people joining the demo servers from time to time, to show the people how it would be in s1+2 servers by helping with clean racing...

let your dad play lfs and let him compare to some crap games, maybe then he would see how cheap it is regarding value for money (the game itself is outstanding in development, content, physics. it has a great community and it has lfsworld with all the online stats and things). it also has one of the longest lifetime cycle i´ve seen with any game software and is not finished yet so it will life some more time. it is not like nfs1 to 10 or madden or fifa01 02 03 ... a new game to buy for every little upgrade. race07 anyone?
you see there are software developers with gamer ethics out there and there are some software houses that employ more sales and marketing persons and lawyers than actual programmers.

thanks all for your replies, it seems the horse isn´t dead already...
even the cruisers like it, the driftstars will love it and the racers can make setups for incredible laptimes. what about an option for roadtires or slicks and only slight race modifications like a private racecar, not a full blown factory race car?
and if eric made us a nice busstop we can call this the first complete online race simulator including traffic jam and vip shuttle...

new reason to release the lx8
molocco
S3 licensed
...as we all know the lx 8 was dropped because it would not be driveable with s1 physics and it would have no competitor. still it would be a hell a fun to drive this little beast.
now to my new reason: caterham is releasing the x330 to celebrate their 50st aniversary. this car has only a 4 cylinder engine, but 330hp and 300nm torque. the power to weight ratio is pretty high...
so if the devs wanted to give us something new to drive i think the lx8 is the way to go. the car must be easy to implement, because it is done to the most part already. the argument that there would be no competitor is not valid anymore, because there are other cars already in the game which stand alone...

please don´t just flame because i beat a dead horse, but i´m an lx6 addict and i need a higher dose of that...

yesterday there were lfsworld racer online gaphics on the top right side of the forum... why is it not here anymore?
i just was happy for this shortcut, and it is actually good for new people that find the forums for the first time, so they see that there is online activity.
please bring this info back to the empty space on top of the forum...
thank you!

if you use one of the newest testpatches (i think from w36 up) you can add ai players when you are in game with the /ai command - and they should drive out of the pits like scaven said in this thread http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 0&highlight=%5Cadd+ai .
this looks funny in some pitlanes and they are not able to return to the pits, yet.

peace mo

edit: thank you because you are one of the few that really enjoy the ai as it is right now. they were good back in s1 days, but they can´t deal with the physics change and the tirewear from s2. and they are somehow not always aware of the human player, whereas they chrash eachother only if they lose control of the car most of the time. they still learn the tracks a bit when they drive about 60 to 100 laps but theres much room for improvement after patch x.

my motor also went lose, fixed it with the help of mr. murchinsons fantastic website http://www.murchisons.net/f1/ which has covered the issue with a picture for every screw you have to unsrcew. this should be a sticky in every racing sim hardware section next to the black momo pedal fix...
i must admit that i had to do this two times as i only tightened the motor screws the first time - the second time i used loctite to glue em in - no problems since then.
the build quality of the red momo is unbelivable - ok the g25 pedals are more robust, but the momos also never failed on me and i used mine since the week they hit the market.
everyone who don´t need the clutch or the 6shifter of the g25 should try to get a red momo new or in mint condition, regardless the price, up to the point a new g25 costs.

Quote from Shotglass :they should have gotten a better driver for that demo though he makes the wheel look bad

and a more stable frame

i think he drifted on purpose because there ain´t much to show if you drive racing style...
agree on the frame...

i like the amount of buttons and the thickness of this wheel. since i came from a red momo the g25 felt a little thin for the first time. now if frex cut down their prices, say by 1/3, then it would compete with the g25 in value for money. still too much for me atm, need some proper studio monitors first...

...and the patch, the patch, the patch,... aaaaahhhhh...

\leaves for some more to drink...

if you use a logitech g25 wheel it is better to set the feedback strength in windows to 101%, because the wheel reacts more linear with this setting.

in game it depends on how much you wanna work the wheel and what force seems realistic to you. the cars all handle different and have different weights, this is changing the feedback experience aswell.

happy racing,

wonder why noone mentioned it till now - are your tires dirty by chance?
press f9 and see if there is a brown stripe in the middle of the wheels.
dirt makes the cars very slippery. also check tire temperatures. with blue
(cold) tires there´s also not much grip. but the effect is more dramatic with
the s2 cars that use slicks.
you have a g25 so you might have some sim experience, but the lfs tire model is surprising to some drivers at first.

happy racing

thanks for the replies. as you can see my problem is solved already.

the sequential mode on the gearshifter is of great use for me when playing richard burns rally. there i shift with the paddles and use the stick as an emergency brake.
in lfs i like to use the mode that comes closest to the car i drive. paddles in the single seaters. h-pattern in the lx6 etc.
the fz50 might have a h-pattern gearbox, but i like to drive mine with the sequential paddles. (i ordered this directly from the factory, besides my custom paintjob...)
