If you're used to Android... get the iPhone, but it won't be just 300€, it would be 300 for the iPhone + 200€ for another Android after few weeks, because you'll hate Apple so much. 500€ total
Second that. I've been a console hater all my life, but a year ago I decided to get PS3 + T500RS and I haven't played any other racing game since then.
I was also very surprised when I went to the nordschleife a couple of months ago and managed to drive the GT86 like if I had been doing it all my life, it was much closer to the game than I expected even though GT5 physics are definitely not the at top.
Regarding the control with gamepad, if they adjust the physics of the game to be playable with a damn joystick, they're ruining the simulation straight away. A game that claims to be "The real driving simulator" should not support any other input that a steering wheel. But of course, that ends up in your last point: masses would not buy it
I don't really feel it that way. What I've realised is that most GT players install racing or sport soft tires to every single car they get. All my cars (more than 300) are completely stock, including tires, and I would say that the amount of grip I feel in a Type R EK9 is not far from the XFG in LFS.
LFS has the physcis, but nothing else, iRacing has the "professional" multiplayer system, but everything else sucks, Assetto Corsa unfortunately is not what I expected (Force feedback problems, I hope is solved in the final release), NetKar Pro has uninteresting content.... haven't tried rFactor 2 yet, but I don't have much hope after checking a couple of videos. GT5 is not perfect in any way but it checks every box with a decent mark, and that's why it gives me the best overall experience and I will buy it.
So no close racing yet? You still start 50 seconds behind the first car and your mission is to win the race banging other cars? Great improvement...
Will buy it anyway, but come on...
Because we've tried the tech preview and it's surprisingly smooth even for my 4 years old laptop. Will be harder with more cars, sure, but graphic engines are not stupid and only render with that quality the part you're looking at.
NSX, S2000, latest Camaro, Ruf 3200S and 996, BMW M3 E46 and Z4M are the best cars to drive that I can recall in my opinion.
No idea about tuning, all my 320 cars are 100% stock, even tires.
I never liked consoles and never considered GT5 as a real sim, but a year ago I couldn't resist the temptation to get T500RS + TH8RS Shifter + Speedmasters V2 cockpit + GT5 + PS3 to drive and collect all the Japanese cars that I love. Even though the game has some really annoying things, the overall experience has been great, and after almost a year and more than 20.000km, I'm still enjoying it.
Changes that I would love to see:
- No more standard cars, just premium
- Proper audio, especially engine sounds. I don't give a damn if the current ones are recorded from the engine bay, most of them sound like shit.
- Proper AI that allows you to have proper races. You start last at 60 seconds from the first car... is that what you call close racing?
- Faster and cleaner menu system. It feels so laggish, every time you press X takes few seconds for the action to happen, making all the navigation too slow.
- Rally is a joke. Please, either re-do it from scratch or simply remove it from the game. No need to explain why.
- Proper simulation of the clutch and please, fix this annoying thing that you misshift when shifting up too quickly while hitting the rev limiter.
- Driving aids only on the cars that have them for real. For example, not possible to activate ABS in a Caterham or stability control in a Countach.
- Proper body roll, especially pitching. In GT5 looks like slow motion and there is some delay when and after braking.
- Proper graphic car damage, and you have to fix it or the car would be in the same condition for the next race.
- More international cars instead of 35 versions of the Mazda MX5... there are some cars missing that just can not be missing.
- Support for triple screen without needing 3 consoles...
- And of course a bit more hardcore in overall
For the rest, just the expected improvements from a new title: physiscs, graphics, force feedback and so on.
Regarding the cockpit view, I think it looks cool but is just wrong. My steering wheel is my real steering wheel and my dashboard is my desk/cockpit, so what I see on my screen is supposed to be what I see through the windshield... I use the bumper camera, but the ideal would be the postion of the dashboard camera with no dashboard. Anyway, custom cameras just like LFS would be great.
That's called marketing, and every company does it, even car companies. Leaked pictures or renders few days before the motorshow? Balls, handed out to the media with "specific" orders...
Since I work for Lamborghini (owned by Audi) i know their filosophy pretty well and believe me, that's the one. They are even trying to ruing our Lambos doing the same shit with them, to make them safer, greener and bla bla bla trying to sacrifice things that they shouldn't.
They are excellent cars, by they're not that kind of cars.
Audi is not a hardcore brand, they want to build high quality, confy and safe cars, and that means sacryficing handling and driving fun is not an issue for them. If you were looking for a drivers cars, Audi is not the brand to go.
I can't stand the design of those "Chinese" cars, mixing different parts from here and there... I will wait until the modders replace every single vehicle with real ones, which always happens.
Graphics have never been the strong point of GTA, basically because a console can not handle such a huge map with proper quality, but it looks good enough to be enjoyed, I will definitely play this one
I just drive randomnly every now and then, because I think physcis and force feedback are still the best ever, however, the lack of content in the last several years have made this awesome physcis and FF pretty useless. Ok, you have them, and now what? I've been racing the same cars and tracks for 10 years...
But I understand how Scawen wants it to be, so I entertain myself with other activities or games hoping that sooner or later a big update will come.. is just a matter of time.
I don't have problems when I want to make the car slide, I just don't feel it coming, I don't feel the weight transfer that people talks about, not at all...
Good to know I'm not the only one Whiskey, hopefully is a problem with the TP version and will work fine in the final one.
Any suggestions with the force feedback settings with a T500RS? Decided to give it a go and to be honest I'm kinda dissappointed. I don't feel when the car is losing traction in the rear like I do with LFS (best FF ever IMO) or even GT5, and when it does, the second countersteering is just as bad as GT5, or even worst, while in LFS is lovely, extremelly intuitive and precise... help?
