Some games are just so extremely unrealistic that people think they can also do stuff like that in real life. For example, some guy lately said if you drive with 250kmh into the side of another car, you can use the other cars mass to block you from crashing into the wall. That way, he thought its possible to take a turn with just a few scrathes on his door.
Thats not a joke, this really happened.....
Sometimes I really wish I was born stupid, so I wouldnt notice all this... aahhh!!!
then its not an lfs bug and most likely a hardware problem (maybe also driver problem, but usually its caused by wrong voltage/overclocking/overheating)
Generally, when hardware, driver or software problems show up, the weirdest things can happen, so I guess the same error simply results in a different behaviour.
What about a special show/fair 'mode' that adds the lfs url to the top of the screen, using wide screen mode, and adding the url to the black whitespace on the top?
Just an idea... (well I guess people might not use this mode then... mhh)
also running vista 64 on my gaming comp and it runs smoothly so far...
actually, a really annoying bug in xp is removed - usb sticks can now be removed properly
Does it crash when you click the button/link, or does it show a popup or open a new page in a tab / window?
Try to describe some more details what exactly is happening.
Any other adblocking tools or crapware like norton internet security should be disabled for testing...
[edit]
tried to disable other addons or run in safe mode?
Just a little hint at the default mip bias settings:
On my computers, everything looks very pixelated then, almost impossible to look at. Im always using -1.00 for all mip values, and AF to make it look sharp again.
As I've seen a lot lfs newbies complaining about the flickering road specially on south city, some more economic default value might be nice?
-4.0 for the road is really hardcore (feels like a 60Hz CRT )
According to some Forum posts you will quickly find when google-ing for the error, the problem is caused by an outdated directX version. So install the latest one and it will likely work again.
Also, its important that the files are really overwriten... Maybe your stragne system has disabled things that are required for LFS.
I really guess it actually IS the joystick support, which is not present in your windows version.
Maybe try nlite and make your own windows, which should actually woth then
